Chapter 26, it was like the temple but made of a tent

We live in a fallen creation because of sin. While we may not understand everything that happens, God wants us to put our trust in Him. God is always faithful, so we can always depend on Him no matter the situation.
God never promises that this life will be easy, but we have hope. Hope through Christ.
Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
Elaine, I want you to know that you're not alone. Psalms 46 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Then Jesus continues to speak with Nicodemus; that what he is hearing now is coming from One Who knows & Who has seen the working of God's Spirit. And further (in John 3:13), Jesus says that there has been no one to have gone into Heaven to learn of these things & bring them to people, but only the One Who was always in Heaven & has come down from Heaven.
Jesus' Words here don't just speak of life after death, but specifically about those who did rise (whether in spirit or in the first resurrection), who did not return back to share this Truth about rebirth with them; people living now could not learn this Truth from anyone, but from the Son of Man Who is the Son of God, coming from God & bringing it to man. And Nicodemus should have understood at least a little of what Jesus was saying to him, because of his knowledge of the Scriptures.
And yes, true, there'll be a day when God will bring forth a new Earth, devoid of any stain of evil, where all of Heaven & Earth will reside ( Revelation 21:1-7), and all sinners (unrepentant, remaining enemies of God & the Cross of Christ), will only be found in the Lake of Fire (v8).

The firmament, raqia, meaning an extended surface, expanse, God called heaven that He placed the sun, moon, and all the stars. It is from the earth to the furthest star. In Genesis 1:6-8 the second day God said let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters to divide the waters, WOW. This shows how little we understand the size and power of our God, we cannot even comprehend that. We ask what is this water that is above the farthest star we know of?
In the ancient world among all peoples everywhere believed the sky (firmament) was a rock-solid dome over the earth beneath which were the sun, moon, and stars. Some in the past believed there was a sea above this solid dome. Some believe the water was a canopy of water vapor that covered the earth before the flood. This greenhouse effect might have made the whole pre-flood world tropical and helped people live for hundreds of years, and the water used to flood the earth.
With the sun, moon, and stars in this firmament that could not be because this would have created intense heat that would cook everything. I think this is one thing outside of our understanding, you can word search firmament in scripture, but God throne is above it, Paul called it the third heaven, 2 Corinthians 12:2. The waters above may be the waters of life as we read in Revelation 21:6 and Revelation 21:1,17. The water Jesus offered in John 4:10-15.

HOWEVER, one verse earlier in Isaiah 65:16, the Bible says, "For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes."
It is likely only our "past troubles" will be forgotten, not all of our memories. Our memories will eventually be cleansed, redeemed, healed, and restored, not erased. There is no reason why we could not possess many memories from our earthly lives. The memories that will be cleansed are the ones that involve sin, pain, and sadness. Revelation 21:4 declares, "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
Many people die on the operating table and are resuscitated, and report seeing Jesus or long dead relatives, friends, pets.
When reading it, the easiest understanding would be that it is God Who comes for the catching away of the saints, with the spirits of the departed believers from Heaven. But we know from reading other Scriptures of this particular time & of the future Millenium period, that God's Presence is nowhere seen, except finally after the creation of & habitation in the New Jerusalem in the new heavens & Earth ( Revelation 21:1-4; Revelation 22:1-3).
And then in 1 Thessalonians 3:13, we read: "To the end he (Jesus) may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints." So, Paul states here that it is Jesus that comes with the spirits of the saints. Then when we align this verse with the one in question, we could read 1 Thessalonians 4:14 as, '...even them also which are asleep in Jesus will God send along with Jesus'. As well, we see the clear distinction of those who are asleep in Jesus awaiting resurrection (v16), & those who are asleep in Jesus in Heaven (v14); these are not Old Testament saints, but those who have put their trust in Christ & have since passed on. When we die, our spirits leave our body to return to the Lord Who gave it, awaiting the day of resurrection when both spirit & body will be reunited & living forever with the Lord (v17). This was the great comfort to the despairing Thessalonians, who believed that the dead would not be raised or in the case of 2 Timothy 2:18, where those two false teachers taught that the resurrection of believers was already accomplished.
But we are assured that our rising to be with our Saviour is certain & those who have died 'in Christ', are not forgotten, but will come with Jesus & together we will join Him to reign with Him for eternity.
Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."
We can't simply will ourselves into no longer having fear under our own power; because without Christ we can do nothing (even simple things like trusting Him) - therefore, we need to pray that He will be the one that makes the change in us.
John 15:5
"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."
The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - "Pray without ceasing." so keep praying day after day without ceasing until He gives you that trust and answers your prayers and cry for help.
The Bible shows us fear is a sin ( Revelation 21:8), so it's something we all should be on guard against, and it's good you are confessing it, because James 5:16 makes it sound like that's part of how we are healed from such a fault:
James 5:16 "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
And like any other sin, God promises to give us a way to escape it:
1 Corinthians 10:13
"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
Next time temptation comes, go to the Lord Jesus for escape, trust Him, and keep your mind on Him:
Isaiah 26:3
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."
Maybe even sing hymns as you pray - it helps you keep your mind on Him and when they prayed in prison the chains broke off( Acts 16:25)
I have read your posts and if I may point out a few things you may look at about Peter. I agree by using Matthew 16:18 making Peter what the Catholic Church is built on is misplaced because Jesus is the corner stone which the foundation is laid and if we look in Revelation 21:14 there twelve.
You may think of Peter being cowardly for denying Jesus but remember he was the one who cut off the ear of that guy when they came to arrest Jesus, and Peter was the only one who followed them to where they took Jesus. Did Peter repent, it is not written the words he said but it does tell us he went out, and wept bitterly, Matthew 26:75. Also Jesus made him say he loved Him three times, John 21:15-17.
There is one thing to keep in mind, even though Jesus told them several times, Jesus being arrested, crucified, buried, and resurrected was hidden from them. Luke 18:32-34. Then Jesus told them when He met and ate with them and opened their eyes where they would understand, Luke 24:44-47. In Matthew 16:22 Peter thinking Jesus was going to set up the kingdom there was no way he was going to be killed and the purpose of His death was hidden from them and Satan.
All during the time they were with Jesus they thought He was going to set up the kingdom then. They even asked Him before He ascended, Acts 1:6 and I am sure Peter and the others were confused thinking Jesus was going to set up the kingdom but here He is arrested and possibly going to be killed.
The reason you see a difference in Paul, Peter and the other 11 were told to only go to the lost sheep of Israel, Jerusalem first, to the Jews first, this is why the early battles about the Gentiles not having to be circumcised and obey the law. Acts 15, Peter had his dream in Acts 11. It was a learning curve for them that it took some time, but it is part of fulfilling prophecy.

LORD (YHVH) has a face, but humans cannot look on it and live, Moses saw his back parts Exodus 33:20-23. If we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior and are sealed with the Holy Spirit, when all is new, we will see our LORDs face. Revelation 21:1-7 Revelation 22:4. We will see God and Jesus both, because they will be the temple, Revelation 21:22

God is not the God of confusion; I pray that you are led by the Spirit of truth and are delivered from the confusion that man is so good at. I will only address the one part, about the temple in the New City. If you read Revelation 21:22-23 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
The Holy Spirit is not spoken of. My understanding that many may disagree, God and Jesus will be among us and there will be no need to communicate through the spirit because we will be faced to face.
Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. You must with prayer come to your own understanding of the trinity doctrine and if scripture truly supports it, be led by the Spirit of truth.

Clearly a millennium Psalm; God's glory is to be declared "among the heathen.." (v. 3) Offering is said to be brought to Him in verse 8. His rule over the earth will be with a rod of iron ( Psalm 2:8-9; Rev. 2:27). Justice will reign supreme; as He is to be "..wonderful; counselor; Almighty God; the Everlasting Father; the Prince of Peace." ( Isaiah 9:6). Again the fear of the Lord (v.4) is an important thing to remember for all of us. The new song (v. 1) could be an extension of the song the 144,000 sing at the throne; perhaps when they rule and reign with Christ later on in the 1000 year dispensation ( Rev. 14:3).
The fact that the sea is roaring (v. 11) indicates that it is before there is "no more sea" in Revelation 21:1. There will be no more sin or death in the new heaven and earth in eternity. Sadly; many will follow Satan's last rebellion at the end of the Millennial period despite such wonderful living conditions on the earth. It takes a supernatural change to man's heart to be saved; sadly the failures of man have been evident from the beginning.
1. He will not leave us or forsake us:
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. - Deuteronomy 31:6
2. He is with us to the end of the age:
".. and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:20
3. God's peace will guard our hearts and minds:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Revelation 21:1-4.
Hellfire is something that takes place at the end of this world, and not at death. John 5:28,29; Matthew 13:40. In it, soul and body are completely destroyed. Matthew 10:28; 2 Thess 1:9. It will consume the wicked into ashes. Revelation 20:9; Malachi 4:1-3; Psalm 37:20. Even the devil will be consumed to ashes. Ezekiel 28:18,19; Isaiah 47:14.
In the new earth, when all sin has been eradicated, there will be no more suffering or pain or death. Revelation 21:4.
answers one of your questions. Whats outside the new Jerusalem.
God will create a new heaven and new earth.

"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea."
I believe that the new earth that God will create will be inhabited by people and animals, because God tells us so.
Isaiah 65:25
"The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent's meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD."
All of the people and animals will be different than we are today. The new heaven and earth will be total love! Everyone loving and getting along!
We will all be pet lovers in Heaven, and on the New Earth!

Did Satan deceive Christ when he tempted Christ; NO, because he had spiritual KNOWLEDGE.
Eve was deceived because she had no spiritual KNOWLEDGE, if she would have had that KNOWLEDGE she would have been like Christ and would not have been deceived.

Our physical sun burns and gives light because Christ CAUSES it, Christ is the light (sun). ( Colossians 1:17)
The star the wise men follower was CHRIST, he is the BRIGHT and MORNING STAR. ( Revelation 22:16)
