These are those who were "SENT" to preach the gospel, "How beautiful are the feet of "THEM" that PREACH the GOSPEL of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" ( Romans 10:15). Jesus Christ was SENT because HE preached the gospel ( Mark 1:15). Apostles and Disciples were SENT because they were ordained by our Lord Jesus Christ to preach the gospel to "EVERY CREATURE" ( Mark 16:15). Before I Lord Jesus Christ were taken up to heaven HE ordained "ALL NATIONS" to OBSERVE ALL THINGS HE COMMANDED ( Matthew 28:19-20). THEREFORE, The "SPIRIT OF THE LORD" SENT JESUS CHRIST TO PREACH THE GOSPEL ( Luke 4:18) and then JESUS CHRIST SENT APOSTLES AND DISCIPLES, AND ALL NATIONS TO PREACH THE GOSPEL. SO, If you heard the gospel from WHOEVER that BAPTIZED you in the NAME of the FATHER, AND OF THE SON, AND OF THE HOLY GHOST, then you MUST OBSERVE ALL THINGS whatsoever Jesus commanded, and that INCLUDES preaching the gospel to EVERY CREATURE in ALL NATIONS. Then, you are SENT.
John 20:21-23.....Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has SENT me, so I SEND you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."
[apostalic succession].... Romans 10:15.....And how can people preach UNLESS THEY ARE SENT? how do Non-Catholic preachers preach if they are not in the line of succession going all the way back to the Apostles???
Why would Jesus go through the trouble of giving the apostles this authority if He preferred the practice of personal confession direct to Himself?
Whatever kind of letter it was or to whoever it was addressed that question has no substance in knowing the process of salvation. It was clearly stated in Romans 10:13 that, "WHOEVER shall CALL upon the NAME of the Lord shall be SAVED".. While Romans 10:14-17 stated the process of salvation backward before you can call the name of the Lord and be saved and that is to "believe what you've heard from a preacher who was sent to preach the gospel of peace by hearing the word of God so that faith shall come to you. (Simple).
It's true that he came not to destroy the LAW but to fulfill it. In fact, it is also written in Romans 10:4 that Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
I would have to ***ume the word of God, also, means every verse in the Bible pertaining to born again salvation. All these verses would have to agree with one another, because ALL scripture is inspired of God. Therefore, ALL scripture DOES agree with one another. In other words John 3:5, Romans 10:9-10 Acts 2:38, and the rest, MUST ALL give us the same STANDARD information, pertaining to salvation or the born again experience. Unfortunately, mainstream Christianity "VERSION" of salvation is drastically different---from the version found in Acts 2:38.
scriptural reasoning--SCREAMS--THAT ALL INFORMATION PERTAINING TO SALVATION MUST absolutely be THE SAME.--IN ORDER THERE IS NO confusion>
This is my answer to Bobby's comment.
Bobby--if you will notice--Romans is a letter to the church at Rome--these folks were ALREADY saved. Paul was addressing SAVED folks. Bobby--why not go BACK in the scriptures where the church was started--where folks ACTUALLY received INSTRUCTIONS how to be saved. The book of Acts is scripturally where the New Testament church started. NOW compare the instructions Peter gave those men in Acts 2 to those so called "instructions" in Romans 10:9-10.
IF Romans is actually "INSTRUCTIONS" that lead to salvation--then why is there no mention IN ROMANS of REPENTANCE, baptism in Jesus name, and receiving the Holy Ghost. These instructions were in Acts 2. You mentions Eph 2:8-10--also. Again, WHY are these "instructions" TO OBTAIN salvation SOOOoooo much different from one another???
The mainstream Christian world is TOTALLY AFRAID of Acts 2:38???--BECAUSE it ****s holes in the false doctrine of "believe in your heart and confess with your mouth".
Romans 10 and Eph 2---are EPISTLES--HELLO EPISTLES --LETTERS to CHURCHS OF Rome and Ephesians ----folks who were ALREADY SAVED. These ARE not INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO BE SAVED>
Comments on Hebrews 7:8. You say: “The only way to pay tithes today is to witness that Jesus lives... Our life then becomes a living epistle, in honoring our Great High Priest”.
While I like very much the idea of honoring our God by our lives, as “living epistles”, I don’t agree with your idea of not paying tithe. Here’s why: The “tithes and offerings” principle/law was established by God way before Sinai. Remember Abraham paying tithe to Melchisedec ( Genesis 14)? The tithes were supposed to take care of the “men of God”, the poor and the orphans. The tenth belonged to God before the cross, and is His today. The same Apostle Paul says: “The labourer is worthy of his reward” ( 1Timothy 5:18), and “Even so hath THE LORD ORDAINED that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel” ( 1 Corinthians 9:14). You don’t suppose the Gospel Workers should be paid of government subsidies?! … Your reference to Romans 10:4 doesn’t apply. Here’s what bro. Malachi says: “Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee?: In tithes and offerings ( Malachi 3:8).
But the best argument of paying tithes and offerings is made by Jesus in Matthew 25:40, “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me”. And you know what will happen to those who don’t… God bless.
May the Lord bless you richly.
