    Here is the essence of what free grace does for the true believer. We are never justified by works because our works are all tainted by sins. The only way a person can ever become justified, that is, declared not guilty before God, is by the free grace of Christ through which we are redeemed. This is why a true Christian can never lose their salvation. It has been divinely sealed by the free grace of Christ. Since He was the one who redeemed us, He has stated that He will never lose any of us. ( John 6:37 KJV) All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Those who swallow and follow the free will heresy have no concept of the free grace of Christ in redeeming His children. They, in essence, declare themselves justified based upon their actions and not on the action of Christ. This is why many who believe they are saved are not because a spiritually dead person cannot enact their own salvation by their own volition. It is simply not taught in Scripture but is forced upon certain Scriptures so man can retain his pride, even in salvation. Justification not only declares us not guilty of all our sins but places the believer in a position of righteousness. Amen glory to God for saving me...

    This verse teaches the very plain truth about every human being and that is that everyone has sinned without exception. The word “come short” carries with it the meaning of “inferior or failure.” Man’s sin has caused them to fail in grasping the glory of God, even though man in his pride likes to think that his track record of works bring glory to God. ( 1 Ki 8:46 KJV) If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near; Even in the Old Testament the fact was made clear that there is not one person on Earth who has not sinned.

    In answer to Rosalina's Romans Chapter 3 comment on 9/14/2013, 11:52am...If we have faith in the blood of Jesus Christ--then we will BAPTIZED IN JESUS name. Then and only then can/will the blood be applied for the REMISSION OF SINS. Peter said on the day of Pentecost--BAPTISM WAS FOR THE remission of SINS.

    For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

    Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

    In the beginning of the unknown beginning God Almighty created the visible and invisible universe. Gen 1:1. Job 38:4. He alone knit me together in the womb of my mother (same to everybody) Psalm 139:13-15. Deception from satan stole me from the LOVE of God. (Same to every mortal being) John 10:10. We believed untested ideology of man rather than the WORD of God. We are lost. Luke 19:10. Yes "Let God be true and every man be a liar" Rom, 3:4. The Son of man came to seek and save a wretched man like you and I. I need Jesus Christ for my salvation (same to you as well).

    (This is my response to "NOT TRUE" comments. The issue is not whether the law is good or not. The issure is in our inability to keep the law. As Paul said in Romans 7: "I don't understand myself at all, for I really want to do what is right, but I don't do it. Instead, I do the very thing I hate." Then he says, "But I can't help myself, because it is sin inside me that makes me do these evil things."

    So how can we "be perfect" as Matthew 5:48 tells us to? We do this by letting Jesus take away our sins. This happens when we place our faith in him. This washes away all our sins, present or past. Anyway, all sins are "past" once we have committed them.

    By not "making void the law" Paul is simply saying what we all understand. That is, it the law's purpose to expose our sins. It does this by always being a part of the Bible. And it has done its job well. It did it so well it killed Jesus for our sins. But once it had done its job, its administration over us ended. Because as Paul said, "We died with Christ on the cross." And as any legal student knows, the law has no power over someone who is dead to its effects.

    Paul summarizes it like this. "So this is the point. The law no longer holds you in its power, because you died to its power when you died with Christ on the cross. ... Now we can really serve God. not in the old way by obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way by the Spirit."

    I hope this clears up this matter!

    (Verse 23) "For all have sinned ..." This means that because of our sinful nature we are going to commit sins. This applies to all people, whether we live under the law or grace. The issue is then, how do we get rid of these sins. Or stated more plainly, how do we make ourselves righteous.

    Paul states plainly that we do this by letting Jesus take away our sins. "He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God's anger against us." He goes on to say, "We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us."

    In other words, the death of Jesus was a subsutitute for our deaths. That is, it was supposed to be us dying on that cross, but Jesus took our place. This is what it means to say that we are saved by grace. Because in his gracious mercy, God did not punish us, but instead placed the punishment for our sins on Jesus.

    I use the terms "God" and "Jesus" to mean the same because as it is expressed in John 1:1, "... and the Word (Jesus) was God." That's why Paul in 1 Timothy 2:3 calls Jesus "God our Savior."

    (This is my response to Rev. Autrey's comment dated 8/14/2013 at 1:19pm on Romans Chapter 3):

    It is "NOT TRUE" that God saves us by faith "EVEN" we didn't keep the law.. It is "NOT TRUE" that trusting in Jesus Christ makes us righteous in the sight of God "EVEN" by not obeying the law.. LET ME CLEAR THIS.. Our Lord Jesus Christ himself said be ye therefore "PERFECT" even as your "FATHER" which is in heaven is "PERFECT" ( Matthew 5:48).. The book of Romans Chapter 3 was telling us that because of the LAW our SINS were revealed.. Therefore, there is NONE RIGHTEOUS.. If we come to the KNOWLEDGE OF GOD.. then we shall have faith in the BLOOD of our Lord Jesus Christ for the REMISSION of SINS that are PAST.. Meaning they our SINS shall NOT be REMEMBERED on the day of JUDGEMENT.. That made us be found PERFECT in the sight of God.. But that doesn't mean we shall make VOID the LAW through FAITH.. YES.. We ESTABLISH the LAW ( Romans 3:31).

    (Verse 10) "No one is good, not even one." "... for there is no man that sinneth not" ( 1 Kings 8:46)." Man is a sinner by nature. He cannot keep God's laws, nor does he want to. That is, when man sinned in the garden, God locked his mind into the sinful mode that he told God he wanted. This means that we are naturally evil, and we cannot make ourselves un-evil, no matter how hard we try.

    Let's say it this way. By trying to do good we still remain evil. This is true, even when we try to keep God's law. "... For the more we know God's law, the clearer it becomes that we are not obeying it" ( Romans 3:20)

    That's why God saves us by faith. Meaning, because of our belief in him, he gives us credit for keeping the law, even though we didn't keep it. It like a teacher erasing an "F" from a students report card and writing in an "A." The teacher does this because the student believes or has faith that the teacher will. Paul says it this way. "But now God has shown us a different way of being right in his sight, not by obeying the law but by the way promised in the Scriptures long ago. We are made right in God's sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. ..."( Romans 3:21-22)

    What a gloriously freeing Word from the Spirit of God through the infallible pen of Paul.. No one has excuse and need not make any!! Paul is identifying the obvious condition of all humanity including those who think they follow the minutest tennants of the Law and prescribes the only healing option for mankind.. Jesus Christ!!! paying it forward by taking the emotional anger of God for every sin down through His Story. And providing the way of continual communion in the Spirit of Christ through dwelling within the heart of evil man!!! wow, ****s my mind, especially in a day of SELF improvement and SELF effort.. In a day when we say "I am rich, and have need of nothing" the resetting of the human comp*** back to , "you are poor, miserable, blind and naked." Thank you Lord God for your Word.. Judge us by your Truth, Your Word is Truth

    Many other believers say that with this p***age that we are no longer bound with the law and with it the sabbath is abolished... you are absolutely wrong. Romans 3:31 clearly states that we do not abolish the law, we stablish it. therefore, we must make the sabbath holy....
  • Tom on Ephesians 2:15 - 11 years ago
    We have to keep in mind this Epistle was written by Paul. Peter warns us in 2 Peter 3 15-16, that we are to be careful in interpreting Paul's letters. Through this p***age we can plainly see that Christ abolished the "Enmity" or hostility between the House of Israel and the House of Judah. I think that to correctly interpret this p***age we need to remember that Israel became a divided nation. They split into Northern (House of Israel) and Southern (House of Judah) kingdoms. Many interpret the next part of the verse to mean that the Law has been abolished. This interpretation is in direct conflict with many other scriptures such as Romans 3:31, and can lead to the error of lawlessness as Peter said (referenced above). The King James bible says "Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the Law of commandments contained in ordinances.....". I believe what Paul is trying to get across is that Christ has brought peace. He has brought and end to enmity, or hostility or any dispute even regarding the Law of Commandments contained in ordinances.

    Grace does not give you a license to sin according to 1 John 3:4 Sin is the transgession of Gods Law the blood of Christ forgives you of your past sins Romans 3:24 and allows you yo be reconciled back to God youre saved by grace because you did nothing to earn this however dont take advantage of Gods grace by disobying his law.

    Grace is too Marvellous for words, by Grace I have recently discovered that less than 500 years ago no one knew the name Jesus. After Seth was born to Adam and Eve it says then men began to call upon the name of YAH, people knew His name and called upon Him, but then came those who thought His name was too holy so they took His name YAH out and inserted, God, Lord, Jehovah, Adonai. Our saviour the son of YAH has His father's name in him and His purpose. And His name is YAHoshua meaning YAH is salvation or salvation of YAH. We are commanded not to add or take away from scripture. Many of the prophets had the name of YAH in their names like JeremYAH.

    All humans are guilty of this 1 Kings 8:46a (for there is no man that sinneth not). Job 15:14, 'what is man, that he should be clean?’; and he which is born of a WOMAN (Adamic nature) that he should be righteous? So until you allow Jesus into your life Today, that glory is absent. Colossians 1:27 says Christ in me the hope of Glory. Receive your glory now by saying after me 'LORD JESUS, I believe in you now, all that sacrifice was for me, I accept you today, come into my life an restore the Glory. AMEN. GOD bless you.
  • David on Hebrews 10 - 11 years ago
    I believe every sin can be forgiven, except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit which is the power of God of that saves us. In Mathew 12:31, Jesus says every sin and blasphemy can be forgiven, except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Hebrews 10:29 says that people have trampled the son of God (by rejecting the Son of God and blood that was offered through the power of the Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead). Many Jewish Christian (who were grounded in Christ) of the first century, thought about returning to the Jewish faith. Some of Jesus teachings didn’t line up with the teaching of the rabbis. They questioned if Jesus was really was the Messiah. These Jewish converts were being persecuted. They did not want give up old Jewish traditions and forms of worship. And they thought that keeping the law would save them. They continued to sin by offering sacrifices in the Law of Moses instead of believing the sacrifice that Christ made at cross. The scriptures cannot say that we commit sins. We are saved because he died for all our sins, past, present, and future. Romans 3:23, for everyone has sinned and is fallen short of the Glory of God. 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins. Johns 3:16 says God so loved the world that gave his begotten son that whoever believes will not perish. So the sin that the writer is dealing with in this passage is unbelief in the power of God to save you. The sin of unbelief of Jesus Christ redemptive work on the cross is the sin that cannot be forgiven (unbelief of the power of the Holy Spirit). These Jewish converts witnessed many miracles of God and still did not believe in Jesus.

    I think it's important to see that we're all unworthy of this marvelous Grace. We're all sinners and none of us was seeking God. Thankfully he was seeking after us and he gave us the measure of faith that we have. The object of our faith is the only thing that matters at this point. We must place it in the Lord Jesus and his substitution death. That's the faith that will see you through! Jesus is the way, the truth and the life!

    Without the spirit of God in us, we will be living naked without worrying about our nakedness and without any worry as if we were not short of glory.

    I am not less of a sinner than anyone else, I am the biggest sinner that I know, and so is every sinner. We all need to accept Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and have faith in Jesus Christ alone (thereby forsaking all hopeless attempts at our own self-righteousness to gain entrance into Heaven). This verse goes well together with Romans 3:10 which reads "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:".

    I would like to focus on verses 23 and 24; Saying But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. Precisely God is looking for a true worshipper in this scenario, who will worship him in Spirit and Truth. So many people believed and worship God, Praising God but they don't know if whom they are worshipping. Here God stated that we must have the qualifications that God wants to see. Verse 24; God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. It is true that God is Spirit that is a fact 1+1=11. Being Spirit, He doesn't have a body, doesn't have a blood, a bone, even flesh meaning God is invisible, we cannot see him but we can feel him. Being He is the TRUTH this is the power of God to forgive on our sins, to save us from our sins without accepting the process of God for salvation then we cannot enter into the Kingdom of God which John 3:5 stated. Unless a man is born of water & of Spirit he cannot enter into God's Kingdom. Because our destiny actually is for damnation in hell, once you died you are already judged ( Hebrews 9:27). And there is NO MORE HOPE for salvation to our SOUL, because we are all BORN SINNERS according to ( Psalms 55:1, Romans 3: 10,23) and the wages of sins is death. We will all die in flesh and some of will all die Spiritually in hell if they don’t repent. The only remedy is to accept Jesus Christ in Baptism bacause this is His command before ascending in heaven that he commanded his disciples to baptize all nation in his name ( Acts 2:38-39). That is the reason that God seeketh a TRUE WORSHIPPER WHO WILL WORSHIP HIM WITHOUT SEEING ANYTHING because God is Spirit. God bless you all. Jesus loves us!

    @Bell,
    On Luke 7:36-50:
    1. Speaking of the difference between a self righteous religious leader who is mostly interested in proselyting good decent people that do not realize they are sinners in need of a saviour and a person that realizes that they are unrighteous sinner that knows they cannot cleanse themselves from being a sinner without a saviour;
    2. The anointing with alabaster box of ointment is a picture of a sacrifice of repentance ( 1 John 1:9);
    3. The women here being called a sinner ( John 9:31) by the Pharisee is most likely a reference to her actions, not just a person born into sin (as all humans are Romans 3:10,23), she is most likely a prostitute;
    4. The parable of the creditor and two debtors validate this event between the Pharisee and the woman of low reputation;
    5. Most people who get saved from a life of being a decent person do not seem to appreciate what they received through salvation as persons who get saved from a life of unlawful activity;
    6. John 18:9-14, the Pharisee and the publican are on the same moral fortitude.

    I "DO" know this: JEHOVAH GOD spoke "verbally" three things to me during the trial. In 1 John 4:1, I found it to be a spiritual warfare. I was "not" prepared. It took me to the edge of sanity, a battle in the mind that produced visible revelation.
    1. Louvenia, who comes to ME and reasons with ME or persuade ME that I may change my mind;
    2. Louvenia, who decides between you (man) and ME (GOD HIMSELF) who is right or who is wrong;
    3. HE said to me: you go to your director and he tells you something, then your co-worker tells you something else, now you change your mind with new information. JEHOVAH GOD said, look I know "all" things. I AM ALMIGHTY GOD, no one can come to ME and tell ME anything I do not already know. This is why I do not change my mind/break a promise. The spiritual warfare left me undecided toward life, knowing that ALL things are in subjections to ALMIGHTY GOD approval. So NO, NO, NO, if men believe or do not believe, I believe this does not move GOD to break HIS promise or HIS will. Trust me, By faith! I requested death (cursed! myself), in order to separate myself from the very thing I was in the midst of. Only to awake! And find myself instructed and repositioned, in that very thing! I was in the midst of 1 John 4:1 Spiritual warfare. I personally found that death did not separate me from ALMIGHTY JEHOVAH GOD, because I knew what death is.

    Verse 32 reminds me of the day we all stand before the Lord Jesus Christ and if we didn't accept Him as our Saviour, then we will say bless me too Lord Jesus and He will depart from us as God departed from Egypt in verse 41. So the Lord lay on my heart to any that don't know that you are going to Heaven when you die to read Romans 3:10; 3:23; 5:8; 5:12; 6:23, and 10:9-13. Ask the Lord Jesus into your heart and tell someone what you did. Put God first in your life and ask God for wisdom, to grow from reading the Word of God . Find a faithful Church that serves the Lord Jesus Christ with all their heart.

    When you’re born again Romans 10:9-10, you have the faith of Jesus Christ, after that it is by believing, the word faith is Greek word Pistis, in the grace administration which covers Romans through to Thessalonians, most of usages of faith should be translated believing, 2 Timothy 2:15.

    Faith in Jesus Christ Who Is God; many say they have faith in God but not in Jesus as Savior. When asked whom I believe in I always say in Christ alone. Yes I believe in the Trinity and almighty God, Son and Holy Spirit. Ask someone sometime when they say they believe in God. You may find they do not believe in Jesus and God's Holy word. Romans 3 spells out very clearly who we are before we get saved and who we are after we get saved. I pray for all true bible believing Christians especially as we see the end approaching.
