Matthew, let me share something with you. We've all made mistakes in life and we all experience some level of guilt and fear of judgment. But let me tell you that Jesus Christ shed his blood on the cross to pay for all your sins. We can never have joy and fulfillment in life just by having good morals and following rules, because we still fall short of God's perfect standard ( Romans 3:23). The peace that we all seek is found in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary ( Romans 5:8). Place your faith fully in Him to forgive you of your past, present, and future sins. Salvation from Hell can only be found when we come to the realization that we are hopeless and helpless apart from God's saving grace. Call on him for Salvation as Romans 10:13 admonishes - "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved". Then you can have freedom from sin and condemnation as Romans 8:1 tells us - "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus". If you have any questions about these comments, please ask. I want everyone to know the peace that Christ brings. "Matthew's Matthew Chapter 19 comment on 6/29/2012, 1:26am... I will admit I am afraid of judgment because I've made mistakes in my life. I can't remember everything but I wish I could take back many of the hurtful things I've said. I have accepted God into my life but my family does not know I have. I have good morals and follow rules and I do not want to go to Hell but I am still afraid..."

I can't express myself well because of language barrier. However, I knew our sin was washed by Jesus when we believed him as he was died on the cross with bleeding himself. Therefore, we have no more sin with his blood when we agree him as our savor. We have throw all of our self esteem, our will or concentration of the life of flesh and the present life in order to belive him at once. As soon as throw our self conconsciousness to be a good believer or perfect believer, we would be easy to get into Jesus. I think myself always was interrupted to be a good believer. Also Satan never allow us to close to the cross and believing Jesus. He may allow all of other things except this issue. I recognized after I read Romans 1-3, believing is simple and God will take away our sin --not by our effort, we will be clean after I agree to him as he died for us. The Jesus came and we, foreigners were saved. He completed his work for us. We only believe him frist and study more about Bible and obey what he said, I think. Hope my English was understandble to you. As long as we believe in Jesus, he took our sin away, we would save and we would be brothers and sisters in him through him. God bless you. Thanks.

I'm a practising Christian. I regard myself as having 'signed up' at some point in my past, and attend a boisterous CofE church. But in my darkest moments of doubt it occurs to me how absolute is the vision of Man in these words. Christians want nothing short of perfection (for themselves and unfortunately sometimes of others). How can we, human-all-too-human beings use that vision in our daily lives without an huge subconcious arrogance. Sometimes it seems I become aware of that secret arrogance and flip over into the most morbid thoughts of isolation and worthlessness in immense cold Universe. In that state I watch myself gradually return to a smug forgetfulness of the intuition. Yes, I have sinned/do sin. Yes, I ask forgiveness. But what rings most true to me is Jeremiah 17:9.

I disagree with the people who says we all siners because we are living in sinfull world. Romans 3:24 it says we are being justified freely from sin by his grace through the redemption that is in christ jesus. We have sin because Adam and Eve,but bible says if we confirs our sins he is faithful and just to forgive our sins.God have mercy and his mercy,The reason he sent his only son is that we must repent,Jesus came for us to be saved.may God help us. from sidwell

Who can claim to be a sinless person while still living in this sinful world? God's eternal word declares that we have all (including Pastor, Bishop, Clerg, Papa,Elder, Reverand & church member) have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

  • Michael Lydon on Romans 3 - 13 years ago
Belief isn't necessary to Receive Grace. Nor is a man's unbelief enough to slacken the promise and faith of God.

The Bible is not a Law Book for the purpose of beating people over their heads.
  • KP on Romans 3 - 13 years ago
Ye must be perfect. Nothing less. Perfection is a judicial imputation from God the Father to anyone who believes or agrees with the Gospel. There's nothing mystical about faith. In regard to salvation, it is to simply agree with God's report. Of course the stakes are high. We should understand our destiny beyond time is the issue.

Why do so many complicate "faith". Again, it is nothing more than agreement with information that you cannot prove empirically.

Once we believe or agree with the Gospel, God imputes judicial righteousness to us. We are the equivalent of someone who never broker the law. It is an oxymoron of grace. We are judicially perfect, yet still a sinner.

Lay aside the lies of "election" according to Calvin. Lay aside the lie that salvation is an ongoing process involving our works and sacrifices.

The work is done. It is finished. Sin is dead to the extent of penalty, spiritual death. Certainly, we don't have the license to sin, to take advantage of God's grace. But, when we do sin, by acknowledging our sins, God the Father is faithful and just to forgive us and to restore fellowship.
  • Conservative Christian on Romans 3:22 - 13 years ago
The faith of Jesus is the righteousness of God. If we believe God, through Jesus Christ, that the Word of God is true, then we are given the power by way of His Spirit to become children of God. The heart has to be converted. Remember, we are saved by Grace through Faith (I believe this is the Faith of Jesus). My faith has no power to save anyone, much less myself. I have to believe God and it will show by what I do. Faith is in Jesus. Christ is everything!! To receive Jesus is to receive His Word because He is the Word. If we don't feed on Jesus, there is no life (eternal). We feed on Jesus by reading and studying His Word and then by putting it into practice, which shows we believe. We pray to God, by way of Jesus with faith, believing that we receive Grace by what we believe. The two main requirements for salvation is to believe and repent. If we don't turn away from sin, then we don't believe and we know what happens to those who continue in sin or those who turn back to sin.
    Gotta go!

Romans is the dynamite of God. It tells us what we were, what we are, and what we shall be. If you have a strong knowledge of Romans, you WILL stay strong in the LORD. Read it, mediate upon it, believe it, and REMEMBER what it says. Use it to lead others to Christ. Rom. 10:17

This is where God commanded Adam And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Before I begin let me say that God hath made 7 dispensation meaning God made different time of salvation and for every time, there was salavtion as I explain thru the knowledge of God wherein God commanded Adam to freely eat all the fruits in the garden, but the tree of knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day you eat of it, you will surely die.

So man disobeyed God when they eat the fruit of good and evil they died on that day because 1,000 years is ONE DAY FOR THE LORD. But before God remove them from the garden, He didn't let them go out without changing their dress, God put them with a SKIN OF ANIMALS which is the SKIN of the LAMB, THE TYPE AND SHADOWS TO COME, meaning this is where God will take place his salvation to mankind. The SKIN OF THE LAMB represent the BLOOD OF CHRIST to be SHED UPON (Heb.9:22) Without shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.

The Skin covering of Adam & Eve representing what God will do to remove the CURSE (DEATH) which came into the world by ONE MAN, and so SIN entered the world, and DEATH passeth to ALL MEN, for ALL HAVE SIN. ( Romans 5:12) We are all BORN SINNERS IN THE SIGHT OF GOD ( Psalms 51:5) There is none righteous, no not anyone in the sight of God. ( Romans 3:10)

The only solution for this CURSE that we INHERITED IS THRU RECONCILIATION BY OBEDIENCE THRU GOD'S WORD, THRU IMMERSION BY BAPTISM IN WATER IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF OUR SINS, AND YOU SHALL RECEIEVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. ( Acts 2:38-39), wherein you will clothed with Christ, and we will be buried thru his death thru baptism, that is why Galacians 3:27= All have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Because there is only ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, and ONE BAPTISM (Ephessians 4:5) There is only ONE GOD and he is the ALPHA, the OMEGA the BEGINNING and END ( Revelation 1:8)
He is the IMAGE OF THE INVICIBLE GOD ( Colossians 1:15) He is the ONE True GOD that was manifest in the FLESH ( 1 Timothy 3;16) He is the True God and eternal LIFE ( 1 John 5:20) And He will be SOON COMING IN THE CLOUDS FOR HIS BRIDE (The Church) Titus 2:13) ( Matthew 16:18-19) For there is no other name in heaven whereby we must be saved ( Acts 4:12) He is the messiah that the Israelites until now still waiting for Him to come, but doesnt understand this Messiah is already came back to heaven in His throne as God Spirit ( John 4:24) To God be the glory in Jesus Christ name, amen.

    Godbless you all

    In response to Doug.
    Check out:
Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

My 18 years old prayer request is that the Christian believers from everywhere, some day will understand from Gal.2:16,2:20,3:22-26 as well from Romans 3:22,26 with which faith we have Salvation and in which faith we are living in righteousness in front of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. For sure with (by) faith OF Christ, Noτ by faith in Christ, as is written in original Greek Textus Receptus, but unfortunately very wrong translated as faith in Christ in most languages. Only the King James and some other English translations are giving correct meaning of this most important bible verse together with only one correct translation from Slavic languages in Serbian Vuk-Danicic translation, and Latin Vulgata and in Spanish Rheina Vallera version. When the Christian preachers and pastors will learn much more Greek language, then they will spread in correct way the Good News of Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus. Amen

First of all, I do not want to take away the main point of the gospel, which is to point the way to salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We should not try to alter the Bible by telling God what we think He meant. Read Acts 17:26--we are one blood. The human race is one race. Eve is the mother of all living, and through Adam we all receive our sin nature. The Bible says in Romans 3:4 that God's truth is true no matter who says otherwise. And in I Cor. 1:25 we read that God's foolishness is wiser than man's wisdom.
It is no stretch of the imagination for me to believe that Adam and Eve's children married each other. The gene pool was perfect in the beginning. You read of Abram marrying Sarai, his father's daughter. God had not yet given the laws to Moses restricting close relationship marriages.
When you get right down to it we are all related to each other, like it or not. That doesn't say we should go out and marry our siblings or cousins now. It is a bigger stretch of the imagination for me to think that God created other humans at the same time he created Adam and Eve.
And the subraces were not created as such; they developed over time through natural selection and genetic characteristics.

The bible says that the local church and his word would last FOREVER. Last time I checked, we still have his word, and we still have the local church! How could you say that the bible isn't overly religious? Have you ever read it? If you truly obeyed and followed the bible (all of it), you would be sinless. We see in the bible in romans 3:23 that we are filthy sinners. Also Derek, 12 books of the bible are devoted to history, which over and over, have been proven.
The son of Hamass went from a son of a terrorist, helping the mass murder of thousands, to a U.S. tourist touring the country spreading the good news of god's word! What happened?? He claims he was invited to a bible study right after he got let go from prison. He converted to a christian! Why? The bigger question is why would he? The muslim (no--caps!) religion rules that the family must disown him and they must never see each other again if a family member converts to Christianity. So, why? The truth you will find over and over is god's word changes lives. What did cari say? The bible was written by 44 men in the course of 1,100 years. That is impossible for men, who were all over the world when they wrote the books, to all write the same message without contradictions! What I am trying to say is that Clearly, God's word was inspired (GOD BREATHED) through the apostles. If you have proof otherwise please write and I would be glad to look at it! Make sure you don't take verses out of context though!

The Book Of Romans is a very good book to minister from and the best verse to say to someone who isn't saved Romans 3:23 For all has sinned and come short of the glory of God But you tell tell it says and the bible that it say you are forgiven thou Jesus Christ
  • Ken on Romans 3 - 14 years ago
The book of Romans is a letter written by Paul, explaining what we must do as Chrsit followers. We must die to the law of Moses, the law of sin, the law of the land, the law that shows us our sind and our neighbors sin. We must be born again into a new law. The heavenly law. The law of Faith and Love. If it was not for the law of sin the how would one know what sin is? A true servent of Christ can look at his neighbor and see no sin for he live by faith and not by the law. You say "but we can not just go around doing what we want, who will hold us accountable if not the law?" The Holy Spirit will hold us accountable, by the Heavenly law.

this has always been one of my favorite verses, it shows us that we really can't live up to what God requires to get into heaven. If you are to read only this verse you might think that it wasn't possible to obtain the Glory of God, but even in His glory he has compassion enough to send His only son to die for us, even the ones that obvisously don't except Him. It is so encouraging to think that MY God is a God of love.

    In response to Tim's comment,

A Christian is not someone is not someone who follows all of the Ten Commandments strictly or
a good honest person. A Christian is someone who
has asked God to wash their sins away with the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible says in Romans 3:23. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

Hebrews 9:22 says,"And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without the shedding of blood is no remission..."

The Lord Jesus Christ (God in the flesh) died on
the cross and shed His blood to wash away our
sins. Then He was buried in the grave and on the
    third day He rose again.

The Bible says, "For whosoever shall call upon
the name of the Lord shall be saved."

We need to ask God to take our sins away with the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him
to help us turn away from our sins.

II Timothy 3:16 says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
    instruction in righteousness."

That means all of the Bible from Genesis to
Revelation is God's Word and is profitable to us.

Revelation is a book of prophecy of things to come. Much of it we will not understand until
some of the events begin to unfold.

The word "revelation" in the Greek means unveiling, disclosure, or revelation.

God tells us throughout the Bible of things to
come to prepare us ahead of time.

The most important thing right now is to be sure that we are a Christian by asking God to forgive our sins and cleanse us with Jesus' blood. That
way you can become His child and be assured of a home in Heaven one day.

What the devil fails to do is confess Jesus Christ as Lord...... That if thou will confess w/ thy mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved...... Again....good works is a manifestation of the Holy Spirit that dwells w/in us not a requirement for salvation.

    Romans 3:28
Therefore we conclude that a man is JUSTIFIED by faith without the deeds of the law.

The most untaught doctrine in the Christian faith today is the doctrine of predestination and election. From the foundations of the earth it was settled..... it was not your intellect, it was not your good looks, it was not your wealth, it was not your works.....for all our works are as filthy rags... it was God and God alone that saved you. That is what grace is.... God's UNMERItED FAVOR.....its not earned.... it is given... to them whom he predestinated to become adopted into fellowsip w/ Christ....

  • Anonymous on James 2 - 14 years ago
Hunh........... I guess Eph 2:8-9 must have been a type O then.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:

9Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ones works are insufficient: Isaiah 64:6
But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as FILTHY RAGS; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

    Romans 3:10
As it is written, THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, no, not one:

Good works are a manifestation of a born again spirit to be sure. But they did not save anyone. That would mean that Christ's death alone on the cross was not sufficient.

    2 Corinthians 3:5
    Not that we are SUFFICIENT of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency [is] of God;

    2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace is SUFFICIENT for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

One cannot earn God's favor (Grace) it is freely given. We only need to believe.

    Romans 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be JUSTIFIED in his sight: for by the law [is] the knowledge of sin.

    Romans 3:24
Being JUSTIFIED freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

    Romans 3:28
Therefore we conclude that a man is JUSTIFIED by faith without the deeds of the law.

    Romans 4:2
For if Abraham were JUSTIFIED by works, he hath [whereof] to glory; but not before God.

    Romans 5:1
Therefore being JUSTIFIED by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

    Romans 5:9
Much more then, being now JUSTIFIED by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

    Romans 8:30
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also JUSTIFIED: and whom he JUSTIFIED, them he also glorified.

    1 Corinthians 4:4
For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby JUSTIFIED: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

    1 Corinthians 6:11
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are JUSTIFIED in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

    Galatians 2:16
Knowing that a man is not JUSTIFIED by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be JUSTIFIED by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be JUSTIFIED.

    Galatians 2:17
But if, while we seek to be JUSTIFIED by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, [is] therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.

    Galatians 3:11
But that no man is JUSTIFIED by the law in the sight of God, [it is] evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

    Galatians 3:24
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to bring us] unto Christ, that we might be JUSTIFIED by faith.

    Galatians 5:4
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are JUSTIFIED by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

    1 Timothy 3:16
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, JUSTIFIED in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

    Titus 3:7
That being JUSTIFIED by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

When verses in scripture seem to contradict each other you must do three things.

    1. Find out what the rest of scripture tell us about the subject. *scripture interprets scripture*

    2. Know the meaning in the original language as some does not translate well from its original. ( 1 John 3:6 and 3:9 are perfect examples) its says one born again is sinless; we know that not to be true it is impossible. A better translation would be to say; anyone born again will not continue in their sinful life style.)

    3. Look at the historical context in which the subject was being written about.

Conclusion: Man has no part in his salvation, it is truly a gift to them that believe.
