The last posting discusses repentance. John 16:8 is a theme I have repeated several times in regard to sin; righteousness and judgment to come being the primary purpose of the Holy Spirit today. In many testimonies there is little emphasis on sin that
someone is saved from; especially a grasp of the sin NATURE. God's love is usually described in some detail; but any concept of a foreign righteousness that we experience (such as with Daniel; Isaiah and John the Revelator when they encountered the risen Christ; or Paul's Damascus Road experience in Acts 9 which brings us flat on our faces is often lacking.
We see these issues especially with the heaven and hell encounters that are described (whether real or fallacious). Trying to
sort out fact from fiction is too involved to have a detailed analysis in this posting. In these type of testimonies especially; but also in many others we see the concept of "losing one's salvation" as a common theme. A general warning here in such a mindset is discarding clear scriptures on the subject as well as taking hope away for those who truly love Christ by causing them to live in constant fear that a particular sin can make them be lost. This needs to be balanced with those who are too confident that they are saved who haven't tested themselves to see if they are in the faith ( 2 Cor. 13:5-6).
It is understandable with a number of young people especially who had an initial faith in God or exposure to the Gospel who repent as a Prodigal son after a time of rebellion may see how the love of Christ was a constant thing in their lives in the background. What we don't see is too many people who clearly understand that we are enemies of God; and alienated from His presence before coming to faith ( Romans 5:10 etal).
And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. (PHillipians 1:28).
2 To make an end of sins (Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law). The verb in the Hebrew text translated as "put an end to" can mean "to seal up". The covering of our sins was accomplished on the cross at Calvary. When he said IT IS FINISHED, he provided us with the garments (wedding garments) to cover our sins. Psalm 32:1-2Matthew 1:21John 1:29Romans 8:31 Corinthians 15:3Hebrews 10:8-111 John 3:5Revelation 16:15.
Is there still sin today? Yes. Will there still be sin and death after Jesus's second coming? Yes. Even during the 1000 years, there will be sin and death until all is made new Rev. 21:1-4 but through Jesus, they are covered and sealed, Rev. 16:15
3 To make reconciliation for iniquity (Reconciliation is an element of salvation that refers to the results of the atonement, iniquity is guilt, crookedness, perverseness, that which is not straight or upright, moral distortion, in the dark. Colossians 1:20-22Isaiah 53:6Isaiah 53:11Ephesians 2:16Titus 2:142 Corinthians 5:18-19.
The word reconcile means to bring back to a former state of harmony Jesus reconciled both Jew and Gentile unto God in one body by the cross and now through Jesus we both Jew and Gentile have access by one Spirit unto the Father no more strangers or foreigners but fellow citizens. Making reconciliation for iniquity concerns our involvement in the work of salvation.
4 To bring in everlasting righteousness. Everlasting, no end, righteousness, justice, mercy, loving-kindness, in conformity to the demands of the covenant and according to God's will, fair and balanced. Isaiah 61:10-112 Corinthians 5:21Romans 3:21-26Romans 5:17-21 1 Peter 2:24.
Thank you again Frankie J for the lengthy comment - I shall pick up on the 'important' matters.
Romans 5:12-14. I certainly agree that spiritual death is seen in these verses, but also that as a result of sin's entrance into A & E & then into humanity, physical death was also the outcome. If this wasn't the case, would you say that A & E would have experienced physical death anyway if they remained without sin? I liken this to what our state will be in the Millennial Rule of Christ & beyond, where sin is finally vanquished & physical death will be no more. Both spiritual death & physical death are results of sin & the human corruption. Absolute purity of life, without any stain of sin can only be attained after we leave behind these bodies of sin.
I certainly don't "imply that the writers of the Scriptures are hypocrites". Rather, they speak of the new birth, the new revived spirit in man & what this means & how we ought to live. Even in Romans 6 as you quoted, where the apostle writes of 'death to sin, crucifixion of the old man, & being freed from sin', can he or anyone who received his message ever claim that sin was now eradicated from every part of their being? Rather, the message has always been not to let sin have dominion over them. What is this? Sinlessness, or through their new birth & abiding Holy Spirit, they should never be servants to sin but to righteousness. Here we have the new God-given life, in mortal sin-affected bodies, determined now by the Spirit's Work, to live for God & doing His Will & not be servants to sinful passions. Has sin left them or ever will leave them? Never. But they can have victory over it & so the great need for that blessed spiritual armor to deal with Satan's onslaughts & not live in defeat. We might now live unto God, but sin will always be at our door & we will always fail simply because the sin nature is still active revealing itself even in the most insignificant of sins; because we know that sin is sin.
Thanks Frankie J. Just going through your comments, with my understanding from the Scriptures.
a. 'You are in State 1, as in Eden before the fall' - I assume slowly progressing to attain the fullness of that state. The only problem with this is that you & I have a sin nature inherited from Adam & Eve, whereas before the fall Adam & Eve had no sin - they were pure. Romans 5:12-14. If we could ever reach that state before death, i.e. of total purity as A & E, there would be no need to die physically as sin would no longer be in our members & the sin nature once given without choice, would be eradicated. But death will come to all of us proving we are still sinners, and should the Lord tarry, our dying will prove without doubt that our inherited sin nature demands the death penalty ( Romans 6:23). For this Christ came, that we might be resurrected into new & eternal life because of His forgiveness of our sins thus giving us clear consciences before God.
b. Paul never ever reached full purity or sinlessness ( Romans 7:14-25) - he would have yearned for it but he knew that while in this body that desire to be exactly like his Savior would be impossible. And his exclamation: "O wretched man that I am", was his constant sense of failure before an Holy God, but he kept his body in subjection & his eyes fixed on Jesus, aiming for the prize ( Philippians 3:12-14).
c. I agree, 'being tempted is not a sin', even as Christ was tempted. But Jesus never gave in to it even to the agony of the Cross. Could we ever say the same for us sinners, destined for hell, but saved only by the Grace of God? The Work of the Spirit is constant & should be a witness inwardly & outwardly as we mature in faith & love - but our perfection will only come beyond the grave when our sin nature will be gone & "we will be like Him", both physically & when the flesh will be cleansed from all evil. Blessings.
Adam there is a verse saying while we were yet sinners Christ died for us Romans 5:6....So before we were born Christ has already died for us....And i was found of them that sought me NOT And made manifest unto them that asked not after me.....k lemme go
Previously; the concept has been introduced as to evidence of good or bad fruit as indicators of true or false salvation in earlier posts. The idea of self; somehow being able to adequately perform the behaviors such as illustrated in the Beatitudes on the Sermon on the Mount (i.e. be a peacemaker; meek; etc) basically demonstrates humanism in some form. I also mentioned the idea of "decisional regeneration". Often; there isn't much thought once we have "fire insurance" as it were; of such verses as 2 Corinthians 13:5 in testing ourselves to see if we are; indeed in the faith. Iron sharpening iron ( Prov. 27:17) is a way that God often uses to chastise us; which He does with all who are truly in the faith. We also should examine carefully the entire message of scripture; in this case the Beatitudes. Here it DEFINES who the meek are; those who are "despitefully used; wrongfully accused and otherwise abused" (my own rhyme giving the gist of the scripture). In the flesh we may put up with this; but expect someone to pity us; unlike what Jesus went through in Isaiah 53. To die for a friend is one thing; but for enemies is something else ( Romans 5:7-8).
The opposite also holds true; people somehow read the Gospels and think that Christ was all about bringing people together; peace and harmony. The unregenerate mind glosses over Matthew 10:34; 10:36; and the 10 times they tried to kill Jesus by various methods such as stoning and throwing him off a cliff BEFORE the cross. The last case was when Lazarus was raised from the dead when he along with Christ were in the final failed attempt at assassination. The world of course has trouble understanding the need for a bloody cross; of the fact that ALL of us are guilty for His death (at least the elect). Ultimately; to believe Christ is God (part of a triune God) has to be given by God ( Matt. 16:17).
Without God we can do nothing ( John 15:5). See also Hebrews 11:6.
I know this has been discussed before and we have different understandings, but just have a couple of thoughts to consider, I will not go over all this prophecy just the first of 9:27.
If I am correct, it is thought the 69th week ended when Jesus' ride into Jerusalem fulfilling Zech. 9:9. Dan. 9:26 says 69 weeks unto the Messiah, should we look over the 3.5 years from when Jesus was baptized and anointed with the Holy Spirit? Look at the multitude that met Him when He rode in, they knew who He was, He came for the lost sheep of Israel.
The antichrist will make a covenant with Israel. We go to Dan. 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: So here we have the last week/7 years and he is said to be the antichrist.
"He shall confirm the covenant with many", could he in this verse fit Jesus? Psalms 105:8-11Isaiah 42:6Isaiah 49:8Isaiah 49:6Romans 15:8Galatians 3:17Hebrews 13:20 I could list many more. The word confirm does not mean make, it shows us the covenant already existed. Confirm means to strengthen, to be stronger.
God made a covenant with Abraham and Abraham said God would provide Himself a Lamb, Genesis 22:7-8, was Jesus this Lamb, Isaiah 53:7John 1:29Revelation 5:6. This covenant is with many, Zechariah 2:11Isaiah 53:11Matthew 20:28Matthew 26:28Romans 5:15,19. Jesus was sent to confirm the promise/covenant made unto Abraham, Romans 15:8. Could Jesus be this he?
"In the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease" Sacrifice and Oblation, the first word is talking about the daily sacrifices, the Tamid, the morning and evening lamb the same time Jesus was on the cross 9 AM the first to 3 PM the last. Then the second word refers to all of the other offerings presented to the Lord.
Do you think the sacrifice and oblation was designed by God to completely cease upon the finished work of Jesus on the cross? Hebrews 9.
Hello everyone, Had an interesting question asked at our men's Bible group. " Our we sinners because we sin, or do we sin because where're sinners". Would like to hear your comments based from the Bible . Thank you
MountHoreb Response to Leoj:
When reading the bible, A Sinner is someone who has a leaning or urge to go against the will of Jehovah God ( Psalm 83:18)
God Saids one thing; a Sinner is inclined to go the other way. we have an example at Genesis 3
Point: Romans 5:12-15
There is Hope: John 3:16,17; 1 Timothy 1:8-10; 2 Timothy 3:16,17; John 17:3
Jehovah ( psalm 83:18) is not looking for perfection. he is like a father and we are like his Children prone to mistakes.
our father is looking for us to tell him the truth, to be humble, to cry to him and repent especially if it's something that
is to difficult to handle on our own. as sinners we need the spirit of God in order to have self-control in all things. This is why Jesus said what he said at Matthew 6:9-12; 1 Peter 5:6-11
Assurance of salvation: Focus on meaning of 1 Timothy 2:4 in light of current subject matter
The matter of Predestination becomes a thorny one on this verse. On the surface it would seem a Universalist mindset saying that all men eventually will be saved is a logical conclusion but clearly the Bible indicates otherwise. When we examine the same book in chapter 4 verse 10 we see that Christ is the Savior "especially of those who believe" which makes no sense unless we understand that He knows all who will eventually come to Him therefore in that sense while we were yet sinners; Christ died for us as we see in Romans 5:8. There are certain joys and comforts in this life as well for everyone; saved or lost to some extent; the subject being called "common grace" is a cause of no small stir among some; I would prefer to say delayed sentence.
This verse clearly is different when we understand the will of the Father toward Christ and all those predestined to come to the Lord as we see in the Book of John. There are verses in Isaiah where it states that He came to take away the sins of many ( Isaiah 53:12; also see Hebrews 9:28). It is clear also that "few will be saved" ( Luke 13:24).
The focus on much of this should be on God's method of salvation; all man centered attempts to somehow fulfill statements in the Sermon on the Mount may appeal to a humanist or even an atheist in principle; but in reality unregenerate man has no capacity to fulfill the law; let alone the deeper implications; both of omission and commission of righteousness and avoiding sins of those types as well.
His church is a part of His Body in a mystical sense but also in a very real one as well ( 1 Cor. 12:27). He purchased it or redeemed it with His blood; and this in a legally binding covenant as it were. God always keeps His end of a bargain; man on the other hand finds many schemes. Again; the key is if the Lord confesses we are His own ( Matt. 10:32).
Knowing God vs knowing about Him: reflections on Good Friday
John 14:9 shows how Christ rather emphatically questions Philip as to his compression of God the Father when in the presence of His Son. This verse is by no means isolated where He states what seems to be obvious as to His inevitable death on the cross; as well as His divinity. Matthew 16:17 shows what seems to be an incredible swing in Peter's life from supernatural wisdom from the Spirit; to being influenced by Satan himself just a few verses later in Matthew 16:23 when Jesus says "get behind me Satan."
Mark 10:33 as well as an equivalent passage in Luke and others in Mark 9 make it clear that Jesus repeatedly explained His fate.
This should serve as a warning to us; along with of course Peter's prophesied betrayal and denial of Christ (which BTW also was what the other disciples did; without making such a bold proclamation of loyalty as Peter did).
The Pharisees; clearly should have known who Christ was; as well as those residents of Chorazin; Bethsaida and Capernium ( Matt. 11:21-22) whose judgments were to be greater than Sodom and Gomorrah who apparently would have repented seeing such things. This is; to say the least a sobering statement. Clearly apart from Divine Revelation we all are blinded.
Romans 5:7-8 shows how although someone may die for a righteous man; for wicked rebels as us who would want to do so?
But the Father from the beginning had some who would be called His own; and chosen (see John 6:37 and many other verses in John on the subject of Predestination also some of my segments on that subject in discussing John).
As the Spirit strives against the flesh ( Galatians 5:17); we realize that we don't love God in our old nature once the Spirit takes residence. We understand not only consequences of our sin; but that we don't want to grieve the Spirit ( Ephesians 4:30). It must be love which leads us to obedience ( John 14:15). Apart from grace our efforts are in vain.
Thoughts on Christ's sacrifice and how it should mirror our own journey as pilgrims on the earth ( 1 Peter 2:11).
The Lord along with at least 2 Apostles lived with an understanding of their time of death approaching (Paul after being warned what would come to pass in Jerusalem; and Peter after Christ's questioning his love for Him). There was always care to the disciples in the case of Christ; and the church in regard to Paul's ministry in particular but certainly Peter and others as well which superceded their own sufferings. This takes Spirit filled living of course; as well as loving our enemies ( Matt. 5:44). Jesus showed the ultimate example of concern at the cross (See John 19:26-27) when John brought Mary into his home (indicating; of course that Joseph had passed away by this point along with his absence in this passage).
Our natural inclination would be to react as Matthew 16:22 as Peter did to the thought of Christ going to the cross if we are honest. Good Friday is only good to us if we go beyond some ritual commemorating suffering without understanding His substitutionary death results in our atonement and ultimately commenced in victory at the Resurrection. This is how ugly our sins were and of course it demonstrates how we were yet sinners and Christ died for us; His enemies ( Romans 5:8). Christ; of course chose to do the Father's will; He was in one sense the victim of circumstances; but these were predestined to bring us to glory. The Father in Isaiah 53:10 was pleased to crush His Son; we cannot comprehend this as to the Godhead; or as to how great His love is for us.
Therefore let us commit our whole lives to patiently serving God; and believing that He is a rewarder of those who do good and diligently serve Him. ( Heb. 11:6). May we minister to the Body as we are all adopted sons; and no longer of this world. Isaiah 53:11 shows how Christ will enjoy the result of His suffering; Psalm 91:16 may apply to our future as well.
Who are those who are left? ( Mt 24:40-41) and ( Luke 17:34-36) Tell us "one shall be taken, and the other "left" ( 1 Thessalonians 1:10) Tells us "which (delivered) us from the wrath to come" The word (delivered) is #4506; it means to rush or draw (for oneself) rescue. So True Believers are (delivered) or (rescued) (saved) from the wrath to come! The True Believers are the ones taken, the ones left will face the wrath to come. ( Jn 3:36) Tells us He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life (those taken), and those who believeth not the Son the wrath of God abideth on him (those left). ( Romans 5:9) Tell us we are (saved) from wrath through him. The word (saved) is #4982; it means "safe" to save, i.e. deliver or protect. The same meaning as the word (body) in ( Luke 17:37) Which are those who are (taken) (saved) from the wrath to come, they are the (body) of Christ. ( Romans 1:18) The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteous of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness. ( Col 3:6) "the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience" ( Eph 5:6) "because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience" The word (disobedience) is #543; it means to disbelieve (willfully and perversely) not believe, disobedient, obey not, unbelieving. (These unbelievers will be the ((ones left)) to face the wrath of God) As for True Believers? ( 1 Thessalonians 5:9) "For God hath not appointed (us) to wrath but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ". Believers will be (saved) (delivered) (rescued) from the wrath to come. He will receive True Believers unto Himself. The word (taken) means to receive near. ( John 14:3) Tells us "I will come again, and receive you unto myself". The ones (taken) are saved from the wrath to come! The ones (left) the wrath of God abideth on them! ( Mt 24:29-31) clearly tells us (when) this event takes place. (Immediately after the tribulation) Truth matters. Blessings.
"And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."
Romans 5:8
" And God commanded HIs love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
1 John 4:16
"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God; and God in him."
1 John 3:1
"Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:"
Romans 8:38
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height , nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Thinking on the love of God this morning. So, so good to know that His love is unfailing, eternal, freely poured into us by the Holy Spirit, and allows us to dwell in God and God to dwell in us.
Even in hardships and sufferings, God's love never fails. Even when enemies, mortal or spiritual war against us, His love never departs from us. Even when we are faithless, His love draws us back to faith. Even when we are discouraged and our hope wanes, His love breaks through these and uplifts us and sustains us.
There is so much to be thankful to God for, but His love stands out as so precious to me. Knowing that, before the foundation of the world, God made an everlasting covenant between the Persons of the Godhead to save mankind from sin as essential to His plan to create the universe and all creatures, mortal and physical. And this covenant was made out of the love that defines God so well. He loved us even before He made Adam and Eve. The elect of God was in mind when He created all things. In love, he determined to create a people for Himself to spend eternity with Himself to the praise of His glory which benefits us to the maximum degree.
When we look at scripture and have say a Word of knowledge or prophetic message it certainly can be done based on scripture alone and incorporate current events as a general principle. When we try to set certain dates or times (such as the Rapture) of course we are violating instructions by Christ Himself ( Matt. 24:36) (note: this could also be referring to the time of the Second Coming as well from the present moment). Once we get much further in predictions; we more often than not see error. Whether anyone alive today has always been 100 percent accurate can be debated. We also have to see that in the age of Grace God has been longsuffering; and that since there are certain promises for the church age (see Matt. 16:18 for example) prayers of the saints can delay or alter certain specific events even if seen accurately as a potential thing to occur. Once again; in surveying Agabus as an example; we not only see specific "bad news" events predicted that wouldn't fly well with som many so called prophets today; we also see it is a specific audience who was given a message; it wasn't blazed abroad for everyone to hear. This would be especially true in the case of Paul being arrested; as no one would want the authorities to perform a "self fulfilling" prophecy-Paul was in enough constant persecution as it was without giving an excuse for further intimidation.
We do well to heed to the exhortation in Revelation 3 given to the Philadelphia church. They had but little strength; but held on which is a type of the church today who has persevered while much of society and indeed others calling themselves believers succumb to damnable heresies. Enduring patiently to the end is certainly a crucial element of saving faith; with that virtue of patience being repeated throughout many Old and New Testament writings. We must trust that God is faithful to remove us from wrath to come ( 1 Thess. 5:9; Romans 5:9). May we endure.
Yes, Jewel, for mankind, This is where sin started. Romans 5:12-15
But even before the sin of Adam and Eve, Satan sinned before God and so did the angels that followed after him. So, sin originated in Satan. But we each choose to sin due to our sinful nature.
The difference in tribulation and wrath? Act 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that ((we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God)). 1 Thes 3:3-4 That no man should be moved by this afflictions: for yourselves know that ((we are appointed)) thereunto. 4. For verily when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know. The word (afflictions) and (tribulation) have the same meaning #2347; it means pressure, afflicted (-tion) anguish, burdened, persecution, tribulation, trouble. ( 1 Thes 3:3 tell us we are APPOINTED thereunto suffer affliction. 1 Thes 3:4 tells us we should suffer tribulation. Now we look at Romans 5:1-3 tells us we glory in tribulations also, knowing that tribulation worketh patience. (The word tribulation in this verse has the same meaning as above, its pressure, affliction, burdened, anguish, persecution, trouble. Now on down a few verses Romans 5:8-9 verse 9 tells us "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from (wrath) through him". This would be very confusing if the words tribulation, and the wrath we are saved from by the blood of Christ were the same thing, wouldn't it be? The word (wrath) is #3709; it means violent passion, or [justifiable] abhorrence, by implying punishment, anger, indignation, vengeance. 1 Thes 3:3 tell us (we are APPOINTED to afflictions, or tribulation). 1 Thes 5:9 tells us (God hath not APPOINTED us to wrath). There is no confusion here because they are different time periods! The (tribulation period) and the (wrath of God) are very different time periods. We go through tribulation but we do not go through the wrath of God, that will be punishment, vengeance on all non-believers in Jesus Christ. Blessings.
True Believers in Jesus are not appointed to wrath! 1 Thes 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which (delivered) us from the wrath to come. The word (delivered) is #4506; it means to rush or draw (for oneself) rescue. Believers in Jesus are rescued from the wrath to come, which means it has not happened when the church, or elect are called to meet the Lord in the clouds. Jn 3:36 tells us if we believe in the Son we will have everlasting life. But those who believeth not the Son will not see life, but have the wrath of God abideth on them. Romans 5:9 Tells us being now justified by his blood, we shall be (saved) from wrath through him. The word (saved) is #4982; it means "safe" to save, i.e. deliver or protect, preserve, be (made) whole. Remember Luke 17:34-37 where we are told one shall be taken, and the other left. And Wherefore the (body) is, thither will the eagles be gathered together. The word (body) is #4983; it means the body (as a sound whole) "safe" to save, i.e. deliver or protect. The word (body) here has pretty much the same meaning as those who are (saved) from the wrath to come. 1 Thes 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to (wrath) The word (wrath) is #3709; it means violent passion, or [justifiable] abhorrence, by implying punishment, anger, indignation, vengeance, wrath. (God pours out His wrath, His violent passion, His punishment on those non-believers in Jesus Christ spoken of in Jn 3:36 who were left on the earth). Eph 5:6 and Col 3:6 tell us He pours His wrath on the children of disobedience. The word (disobedience) is #543; it means disbelief, (obstinate and rebellious) unbelief. While this violent passion is being poured on the children of disobendence on the earth. True Believers in Jesus were caught up to meet Him in the clouds and taken to the marriage supper of the Lamb. The tribulation period has nothing to do with the wrath of God, they are two very different time periods. Blessings.
Six things determined upon Daniel's people and the holy city.
Part 4
To make reconciliation for iniquity
Reconciliation is an element of salvation that refers to the results of the atonement, to coat or cover, Isaiah 61:10Rev. 3:4Rev. 16:15, iniquity is guilt, crookedness, twistedness, perverseness, that which is not straight or upright, and moral distortion in the dark.
The word reconcile means to bring back to a former state of harmony, Jesus reconciled both Jew and Gentile unto God in one body by the cross and now through Jesus we both Jew and Gentile have access by one Spirit unto the Father, no more strangers or foreigners but fellow citizens. Making reconciliation for iniquity concerns our involvement in the work of salvation. God has reconciled himself to us and empowered us by his Spirit to reconcile ourselves to God and one another.
To bring in everlasting righteousness.
Everlasting, no end, long duration, antiquity, futurity, forever, ever, everlasting, evermore, perpetual, continuous existence. Righteousness, God's attribute, justice, mercy, loving-kindness, in conformity to the demands of the covenant, and according to God's will, fair and balanced.
Everlasting righteousness was what our Lord manifested in His sinless life. Jesus by His blood entered in once into the holy place not made by hands having obtained eternal redemption, everlasting, and in Jesus we have everlasting righteousness and salvation, through faith, given by grace from God, by the blood of the Lamb freely offered for us. We have no righteousness apart from Jesus Christ.
Asking the Lord to fight our battles, asking for strong protection, salvation (those not saved), deliverance, healing and guidance and also encouragement and revival in the heart. More love in our hearts too ( Romans 5:5). Asking this for us and all in need.
Hi Michael, the Bible doesn't say we will never be sick or have hardship or suffering. It guarantees we will have them, and says we will even be persecuted for our faith. I think anyone pushing a health and wealth doctrine is pushing a lie.
James 1:12
Romans 5:3-5
Matthew 10:28 - says to not fear those who can do us harm but fear God.
It does say if you pray with faith you will basically get what you ask. I think this means you have genuine and pure faith, not praying for selfish things like a new ferrari. That is my opinion.
I would like to add to what Gigi has already shared.
You asked, "WHO is the CAUSE of suffering ?
I believe the cause of suffering goes back to the Garden of Eve.
All of God's creation was effected by the fall.
We suffer physically and emotionally.
And we suffer persecution because of our new birth.
We have a sin nature in this EARTHY TABERNACLE.
Romans 5:12 says "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and SO DEATH PASSED UPON ALL MEN, FOR THAT ALL HAVE SINNED:
Look at Romans 8:18-23.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
8:21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
8:22 FOR WE KNOW THAT THE WHOLE CREATION GROANETH AND TRAVAILETH IN PAIN TOGETHER UNTIL NOW.
8:23 AND NOT ONLY THEY, BUT OURSELVES ALSO, WHICH HAVE THE FIRSTFRUITS OF THE SPIRIT, EVEN WE OURSELVES GROAN WITHIN OURSELVES, WAITING FOR THE ADOPTION, TO WIT, THE REDEMPTION OF OUR BODY.
We see what it will be like when all God's creation is redeemed in
"For now we see through a glass, darkly; ..."( 1 Cor. 13:22)
There are enough descriptions of the heavenly city; the New Jerusalem to sufficiently convince our minds of the riches of His glory to come. One must; however get beyond what Satan himself beheld before his fall. All the riches of splendor are of no avail when the soul has become proud; corrupted and rotten. Compare this to the state of Adam after his fall when he saw an earthly paradise slowly decay to thorns in his garden; his progeny being about the first murder with Cain slaying Abel; and finally watching the antidiluvian world quickly spiral out of control hastening toward judgment before his own demise.
With both heaven and earth it is; of course God's glory which is the center of attention as He is the Creator of all things. The Spirit within testifies to our spirit that we are the children of God ( Romans 8:16). A dwelling place is being prepared for us suitable for our new roles as kings and priests; and eventually for us to partake in a new heaven and earth where there is no more death; and sorrow ( Rev. 5:10; 21:4).
Our earth at present is contaminated; ripe for judgment because of the sin of men; and fallen angels. Psalm 140:3 states that the "poison of asps is under their lips." There are numerous other verses about wicked men; and the fact that we were all enemies of Christ before being granted repentance ( Romans 5:10; 2 Tim. 2:25; etc.) Once we are saved; we stop looking within and focusing on ourselves; and we can look to Christ and His church as part of a future; a heavenly calling and thus truly be free to serve and love our Creator. The rest of the world; of course is caught up with created things; forgetting that the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God ( 1 Cor. 3:19). Thus; all the A.I. world with it's endless violence; cyber fantasies and other vain imaginations will as a vapor pass away as will all we hold dear to other than God in this world.
Leviticus 20 - NO ONE CAN SAVE THEMSELVES FROM THE JUST PUNISHMENT FOR THEIR OWN SIN
Death begins its work in us from the moment of our conception. Even while our cells are dividing and multiplying and differentiating into various types of cells to make up bones, blood, tissue, nerves, organs, etc. our sinful nature is corrupting every aspect of our being and death is acting on our physical matter. Throughout our life our cells die off and are replenished. Our soul is dead to God from the moment of conception because of the corrupted sinful nature. From the very start we are separated from God because He is so holy we cannot be in His presence and live. We need His mercy from the very start of our life and every moment after that.e
But, just as through one man, Adam, we all sinned (for he is our federal head-the effectual representative of all persons to ever descend from him); also, through one man, Jesus Christ we made alive because of His perfect obedience. Death came by Adam, life came by Jesus. Condemnation came by Adam; justification came by Jesus. Corruption came by Adam, righteousness came by Jesus (who is federal head of the Body of Christ). ( Romans 5:12-19)
We are not sinful because we sin, we sin because we are sinful from the start. We all need God's mercy and salvation that comes from the substitutionary death of Jesus on the cross to bring forgiveness to all who put their faith in Him. Jesus bore the eternal capital punishment (which we deserve) for the sins of all men, that even though we suffer under physical death, we will not die eternally if we are in Him.
In His first coming, Jesus came not to bring condemnation to humankind, but to bring salvation. John 3;17-18) in His second coming, He will bring judgement upon all human beings, eternal life for those who are His by faith, and eternal punishment in the lake of fire for those who refuse to turn to Him and reject His provision for salvation for the sinfulness of each person.
2. 2 Corinthians 13:5. "Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith..." This verse should be a warning given after any profession of faith. Warnings need to be associated with that in regard to producing good fruit ( Gal. 5:22-23). We of course don't want to present a "hyper-grace" type message in any form that we are now free to sin since grace "abounds" as stated in Romans 5:20 and subsequent verses. Here are several things one should look for after a genuine salvation experience and are evidences of SANCTIFICATION; the next stage in the process leading to GLORIFICATION. Romans 8:17; however talks about part of the necessary process "provided we suffer for Him."... This is not to suggest that we are all going to be martyred; but it DOES assume that we are crucified with Christ ( Galatians 2:20) and our life is now in Him. This means a death to our PRIDE; which of course is based on a whole bunch of subpoints (materialism; self grorification; esteem; reputation; status; etc.)
There used to be a song by Amy Grant "you've got to count the cost if you want to be a believer." as one of the lyrics. I could say more here; but I will leave it at this: such advice is sorely needed today if someone seeks God; and we must live it out ourselves.
3. Warnings of specific things the enemy is likely to place in your path to make you fall. I don't know how I could write this without reference to a primary target Satan is going after; namely marriages and family. If such things as personal vows taken in God's name (such as a marriage Covenant) are NOT taken as being DEADLY serious; then we can certainly understand why the confessing church has about 50 percent divorce rate par with the rest of the "pagan" world. I cannot understand how a covenant with God where the specific vow "until death do us part" can be violated. I don't wish to be flagged for the debate here on the "escape clause" in 2 places in Matthew
Proper view on imprecatory Psalms and other scriptures on the wrath of God
In Psalm 2; we see that God laughs at the calamity of the wicked. This is repeated in Psalm 37 and 59 and I believe elsewhere in scripture. We don't have the prerogative as the Lord does for such an attitude. This doesn't mean; however that we won't rejoice in God's judgments of the wicked. Also as Isaiah 66 makes clear; we will see those in hell and they will be an abhorrence.
Romans 5:10 indicates how we all were enemies of God. We are commanded to love our enemies; as well as "pray for those who despitefully use you" ( Matt. 5:44). This isn't possible; of course apart from the Spirit living in us. But we note as well that we are aware of who our enemies are; namely those opposing Christ.
We need to differentiate as well between that which is spoken to the masses (those called) with an individual message (to those who are chosen). We are all in a STATE of sin; which is common to this world system; as is described in James 3:15 as the "world; flesh and the devil." The world which promises "freedom" makes us captive; whereas when we are servants of Christ we are truly set free. To hate the sin and love the sinner therefore is more of an aversion to the state of sin even than to their individual participation in it. We can flip the tables on this and state that the love of Christ is more focused on the BODY of Christ than any individual member of it; that is if we wish to find a church with balanced gifting.
Ultimately; then the final fate for the unregenerate is in a perpetual state of sin; and therefore they are just one of a whole pile of garbage; spiritually. Hence is the allegory of Gehenna in scripture given as a comparison to eternal hellfire; where they used to toss the trash outside the city. Rev. 11:18 is even fitting for environmentalists; God will "destroy those who destroy the earth." Animals as well will feast at Armageddon.
DJ Grim, ONLY word tree in Psalms 105: in verse 33; "He smote(struck)their vines also & their fig trees; & brake (splintered) the trees of their coasts(territory)". Absolutely Nothing about being nailed to a tree. Praise goes to Jesus for our sins that HE was nailed to said cross.! Furthermore, He, God/Jesus remembers them (our sins) no more. We ask God for forgiveness in Jesus name hence 'through HIM we are saved'. To GOD be all glory *The word cross is mentioned 28 times in new testament. Esword dictionary states: From the base of G2476; a stake or post (as set upright), that is, (specifically) a pole or cross (as an instrument of capital punishment); figuratively exposure to death, that is, self denial; by implication the atonement 'of Christ':-cross. 'The cross' is the place where all the wounds of sin are healed. If you suffer from emotional problems--guilt, anxiety, depression, anger, or whatever-there is healing in the "cross of Christ". If you are going through tragedy or suffering, there is comfort in abundance as you contemplate the sufferings of the 'spotless Savior' on your behalf. Who was standing by "the Cross of Jesus"? Many a witness that HE was nailed to "a cross" Simply put, the meaning of "the cross" is death. "The Cross" is a great contradiction. A simple upright post with a transverse bar used crucifixion. It's a symbol of death, but so much more. Death and life, hate and love, violence and peace, accusation and forgiveness, sin and purity, brokenness & wholeness, all is lost yet everything is gained, destruction & restoration, defeat and victory. Once the cruelest form of execution, *yet now it is a symbol 'of abundant life*'. The Life JESUS gave to save anyone willing to except Him for dying for their sins. God showed great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners ( Romans 5:8). I feel, it's the unbelievers way to demean Jesus death & resurrection by calling it a tree. He died4U & loves you, RESPECT HIM PLEASE.!!
Hello Javier. That's a good question. It is my understanding that Jesus became Jesus (i.e. given this Name) at His Birth ( Matthew 1:21). I don't believe Jesus was known as Jesus prior to His incarnation, rather, the Bible (in the NT), speaks of Him as God's Word ( John 1:1-14). As you know, God is One ( Deuteronomy 6:4); God cannot be divided up into many gods. Yet God can do something that we humans can't: He can send out His Word & He can send out His Spirit. So we don't get three gods, but the One Holy God manifesting Himself in other forms (for our sake). We can't do this; I can speak or write my thoughts for another to heed, but in the end, they are only words. And I certainly can't send out my spirit to do a work on my behalf - even if I could, I would then be spirit-less, therefore, dead. But God is wholly a Spirit-Being ( John 4:24) & can do any work & be anywhere as He Wills - something you & I cannot do as our spirits are confined to bodies of flesh.
So, at the appointed time ( Romans 5:6), God sent out His Word for His people (Israel), just as He did by the mouths of the prophets in the Old Testament days. But this time, God clothed His Word with flesh, so that Israel might not only hear from God directly to them, but also witness that this One from Heaven has come to be the supreme Sacrifice for them. Their other sacrifices were only temporary until the coming of God's Sacrifice: Himself (His Word made flesh).
Then to your question: for Jesus (the Word out of God's Being) to live as a man, suffer & die as a man, he would have had to lay aside those attributes of Divinity that could never permit Him an experience of pain & death. Philippians 2:5-8 gives a perfect explanation of how Jesus had to humble Himself, not hold onto His equality with God before men , instead became their servant. Jesus now is God's Son, & as a man with human feelings, would rightly call out, in prayer, to His Father in Heaven; & He will always be God's Son seated beside His Father.
Fierce opposition may be something in this country that we are not normally accustomed to but one has to ask why in light of 2 Timothy 3:12-17; John 15:18-21; 2 Corinthians 11:26 etc.
Perhaps I made this statement earlier in the Psalms discussion; but we need to distinguish between unconditional love and the fact that "enemies" still exist. Romans 5:10 and apparently 29 other verses show that indeed we all are enemies of God prior to our conversion; hence all unregenerate remain in that state.
There is something to be said for the O.T. times when the mindset was more "an eye for an eye"( Exodus 21:24). In terms of today; Christ demonstrated no personal condemnation for a particular individual; but He certainly spent chapters excoriating the Pharisees and others which caused multiple attempts at His life along the constant persecution.
Again as I stated in other Psalms regarding David's multiple hiding periods from Saul he showed respect for him by preserving his life multiple times when he could have ended it; and also he mourned over his death when the Lord finally made Saul reap what he sowed. When someone tries to kill you 21 times as Saul was said to do (not to mention other enemies of his); then we can understand a desire to see justice. Christ alluded to judgment with unbelief among the places that had seen mighty works such as Matthew 11:21 (the "woe to you" term was also used with the Pharisees).
Individual judgment to come or the fate of nations is not something we should gloss over. We as watchmen are responsible to sound the alarm ( Isaiah 52:8 and other verses in Jeremiah; etc). In evangelism warning of a national fate seems to be generally disregarded as opposed to warning individuals as to the wrath to come. I can't see studying how Christ preached that it can be ignored. We can study scripture and history to see how Isaiah and Jeremiah for instance were martyred for such messages.
That's 1 way to look at it. Day definition as span of time. Psalms 90:4, 2Peter 3:8,
Genesis 3, Also a Spiritual death, that happened immediately, the results of which were immediate fear, instead of trust to their creator. Feeling naked before GOD, & man etc. Matthew 8:22, Luke 9:60, Romans 5:12-21,
The last posting discusses repentance.
Part 2
2 To make an end of sins (Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law). The verb in the Hebrew text translated as "put an end to" can mean "to seal up". The covering of our sins was accomplished on the cross at Calvary. When he said IT IS FINISHED, he provided us with the garments (wedding garments) to cover our sins. Psalm 32:1-2 Matthew 1:21 John 1:29 Romans 8:3 1 Corinthians 15:3 Hebrews 10:8-11 1 John 3:5 Revelation 16:15.
Colossians 1:20-22 Isaiah 53:6 Isaiah 53:11 Ephesians 2:16 Titus 2:14 2 Corinthians 5:18-19.
Isaiah 61:10-11 2 Corinthians 5:21 Romans 3:21-26 Romans 5:17-21 1 Peter 2:24.
See Part 3
We might now live unto God, but sin will always be at our door & we will always fail simply because the sin nature is still active revealing itself even in the most insignificant of sins; because we know that sin is sin.
Blessings.
Psalms 105:8-11 Isaiah 42:6 Isaiah 49:8 Isaiah 49:6 Romans 15:8 Galatians 3:17 Hebrews 13:20 I could list many more. The word confirm does not mean make, it shows us the covenant already existed. Confirm means to strengthen, to be stronger.
God made a covenant with Abraham and Abraham said God would provide Himself a Lamb, Genesis 22:7-8, was Jesus this Lamb, Isaiah 53:7 John 1:29 Revelation 5:6. This covenant is with many, Zechariah 2:11 Isaiah 53:11 Matthew 20:28 Matthew 26:28 Romans 5:15,19.
Hebrews 9.
God bless,
RLW
Point: Luke 24:45-48; Romans 7:7-25
Hope these scriptures help. Thanks
Romans 5:5
How precious is our election!
But even before the sin of Adam and Eve, Satan sinned before God and so did the angels that followed after him. So, sin originated in Satan. But we each choose to sin due to our sinful nature.
Part 4
To make reconciliation for iniquity
Reconciliation is an element of salvation that refers to the results of the atonement, to coat or cover, Isaiah 61:10 Rev. 3:4 Rev. 16:15, iniquity is guilt, crookedness, twistedness, perverseness, that which is not straight or upright, and moral distortion in the dark.
Colossians 1:20-22 Isaiah 53:5-6 Isaiah 53:11 Ephesians 2:16 Titus 2:14 Romans 4:7 2 Romans 5:10-11 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 Colossians 1:19-22
Isaiah 61:10-11 Hebrews 8:12 Romans 3:21-26 Romans 5:17-21 1 Corinthians 1:30 2 Corinthians 5:21 1 Peter 2:24

James 1:12
Romans 5:3-5
Matthew 10:28 - says to not fear those who can do us harm but fear God.
It does say if you pray with faith you will basically get what you ask. I think this means you have genuine and pure faith, not praying for selfish things like a new ferrari. That is my opinion.
God bless
We see what it will be like when all God's creation is redeemed in
Revelation 21:1-4.
I hope this helps.
God bless.
Join the party my friend.
None of us are worthy! It's all God's mercy and Grace!
Titus 3:3-7.
No one had to qualify.
We had to believe on him whom God sent. Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.
God bless you.
2. 2 Corinthians 13:5.
Let us preach truth in love.
Genesis 3, Also a Spiritual death, that happened immediately, the results of which were immediate fear, instead of trust to their creator. Feeling naked before GOD, & man etc. Matthew 8:22, Luke 9:60, Romans 5:12-21,
Eternal life, reference too Psalms 82,
Hopefully this is helpful
