    What is water baptism?

    Colossians 2:11-12:

    "11. In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

    12. Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."

    Romans 6:3:7:

    "3. Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

    4. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

    5. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

    6. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

    Hi Jonesdm1.

    You said you do have an answer for the order, so I will just share my belief.

    Ephesians 4:4-6 says "There is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;One Lord, one faith, ONE BAPTISM,

    One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and IN YOU ALL.

    So, this baptism here speaks of the baptism of the Holyspirit.

    We are now joined to Christ by the Baptism of the Holyspirit.

    We are part of the body of Christ!

    This baptism includes Romans 6:3-4

    3)-Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

    4)- Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

    Verse 3 speaks of the old man within ourselves dying. (Christ was Judged for our sins)

    Verse 4 Speaks of the quickening of the Spirit that rose Christ from the dead and now we are born from above.

    The following verses sums this up.

    Romans 6:5-11.

    For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

    Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

    For he that is dead is freed from sin.

    Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

    Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.

    For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

    Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    There is other verses that Parallels this.

    So I say once you genuinely believe, you are baptized and born again simultaneously.

    You are now justified in the eyes of the Lord.

    Hi Tdianne,

    As to your question you have received several answers, my understanding in the Bible baptism is done only by immersion as the word means. As Jesse said sprinkling did not start until the 1300s and it was for the reason it was so inconvenient. So, this was done just because of convenience's sake, nothing Biblical about it. I agree with Giannis, and we must believe as Jesus said in Mark 16:16.

    All we do is to be done in our Lord Jesus's name, Colossians 3:16-17. Many use Matthew 28:19 but we also see in the rest of Scripture that a person who is baptized in Jesus' name is someone who believes in Jesus as Savior, the Messiah, the Son of God who for us died, was buried, and was resurrected we acknowledge this by being baptized in His name, Acts 2:38 Acts 8:12 Acts 8:16 Acts 10:48 Acts 19:5 Acts 22:16 Romans 6:3 Galatians 3:27 Colossians 2:12 Ephesians 4:5.

    Paul shows the importance of being baptized in the name of Jesus, Acts 19:1-6. God has placed Jesus and His name above all that is in heaven and earth, Matthew 28:18 Philippians 2:9-11. Salvation only comes in His name Acts 4:12 Romans 10:13. The name of Jesus is the source of power and authority for healing, miracles, and deliverance, Mark 16:17 Luke 10:17 Acts 4:7 Acts 4:30 Acts 16:18.

    We are to give thanks in Jesus's name, Ephesians 5:20. Our faith is through Him and in His name, Acts 3:16. We must believe in Jesus, John 3:16 John 6:47 Acts 16:31 1 John 3:23 1 John 5:13. Whatever we ask for we are to ask in His name, John 14:13-14. We are to pray to the Father in His name, James 5:14. Jesus is our priest and the only mediator between God and men, 1 Timothy 2:5.

    My belief differs from GiGi's as I believe that a person has to be immersed in water during the water baptism.

    In Colossians 2:11-12 it says

    So the baptism in water signifies the burial of the old sinful man and the raise of the new man. The baptism is actually the burial of the old dead sinful man. To be buried with Christ into His death one has to be fully immersed in His death/grave/water.

    Sorry but sprinkling with water, in my opinion, means nothing. On top of that the word baptism which originates from greek means immersion/going under. In the Book of Acts (9:26-40) we can read the story with Philipp and that eunuch. Another story is John's baptism. In the NT we don't see anybody to be water baptized by sprinkling. GBU

    An exposition of John 16:8-11

    8And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me; 11and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world has been condemned.

    "And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever." ( Revelation 5:13)

    "Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed." ( John 20:29).

    Starting with the middle verse; I thought it interesting to consider that IF this is to be taken chronologically; IMMEDIATELY after the Rapture and before the onset of the first seal being opened; everyone will praise God and Christ. I had originally noted that this occurs at the sixth seal; when mankind runs away from God and realizes His judgments have begun. This brings to mind what was said in the passage from John; we don't want to wake up in the Tribulation and have to face the horrors of that time and martyrdom to boot which will be the basic change once everything is revealed; the church age is over and the saints are to be overcome ( Daniel 7:25).

    The Spirit reflects Christ in its operation. When Jesus spoke it was often in regard to bringing out the full meaning of the law (lust and anger) as general teaching to the crowd; or specific allegations to a group of Pharisees in particular as well as lawyers.

    The Spirit causes individuals to have a general conviction of sin because we have a sense of God's holiness against our own condition. The end result of sin is death ( Romans 6:23) and hell. Godly sorrow brings repentance (and life) worldly sorrow death.

    Hi Bryanna.

    It seems you are struggling with the fruit of salvation.

    This is an area we all struggle with to some degree.

    However if you are a born again believer and truly "TRUSTING IN THE WORK OF CHRIST AND HIS SACRIFICIAL WORK ON THE CROSS" those wages has been paid in full.

    Sin brought on death.

    That's why we are to be born Again by the working of the Holyspirit. This is more precisely "Born from above"

    Now we have Christ spirit working in us.

    John 16:8 says the Holyspirit will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.

    He will reprove it or show it to be wrong.

    No amount of preaching, pleading, or pointing of fingers will bring about the conviction of sin, unless the Holy Spirit is at work in the sinner's heart!

    The most basic sin of which the world is guilty is unbelief.

    Once a person responds to the Spirit's conviction and turns to faith in Christ, the other sins he practiced will be taken care of. It is the sin of unbelief "a refusal to trust in Jesus is what is primary.

    Romans 6:20-22 reads,"For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

    What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed?

    for the end of those things is death.

    But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

    For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    Justification, Righteousness and Sanctification.

    We have "been justified by his blood" ( Romans 5:9), and part of that justification is an imputation of His own righteousness.

    Christ righteousness has been imputed over to us.

    Romans 5:8-10. 2 Corinthians 5:21, and Romans 3:22

    sums it up as well.

    That does not mean we automatically do what is right, that will come through the process of sanctification.

    Passover day,

    Passover day starts at sundown, the preparation day for the Feast of Unleavened Bread. When Jesus was here would have been His last day, the Last Supper, in the garden, the betrayal, taken to the priests, Pilot, nailed to the cross and put in the tomb before the sunset. When the sun set that would be the 15th the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread a high Sabbath, a holy convocation, the day they went out of Egypt.

    This Sunday would be the Feast of Firstfruits the day Jesus rose from the grave being the Firstfruits of those who slept.

    Romans 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

    Satan's machinations: The spirit realm continued

    The enemy of our souls has a problem (actually as sick as he is a lot of issues) but I am focusing on one in particular. He can't stand humans; in reality even those who do his bidding but is out of necessity offering many temporary pleasures to turn men away from God and in reality; of course put people into bondage. Since he can't stand God; Christ or His holiness as well as human beings the last thing he wants is to see someone be drawn to Christ's mercy and salvation through God's love. No doubt that sickens him. Some say his primary motive is to have us in hell with him. Since he hates us already having our company there isn't going to make him feel better; and of course he will be too busy suffering himself to care anyway. It may give him pleasure for now; since he misses out on such suffering until the confinement period of the Millennium is over and the final conflagration occurs; to think of men in constant agony. What he really wants as from the beginning is worship. His motive is simply overthrow of God and heaven which his demented mind still thinks can be attained; but at the same time he probably knows better since his time is short. Daniel 8:10 even seems to suggest he tramples on some of his own demonic horde when cast out of heaven in the Tribulation; likely enraged that they couldn't fight hard enough to keep his position up there any longer.

    The whole Satanic mantra (Such as Aleister Crowley's "do as thou wilt") in a nutshell explains all of the enemy's tactics.

    The devil only wants to serve himself. He will use his best tool music (read Isaiah 14 or Ezekiel 28) to delude the masses.

    He doesn't rule over hell; at least after the cross as souls now go straight to heaven and not remain in the paradise under the earth. His contracts with people can't hold water with the shed blood on the cross of His atonement. 1 Corinthians 15:56; Romans 6:23). Christ conquered sin at Calvary.

    1 Corinthians 15:20-23 states, "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

    For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

    For as in Adam all die, even so "IN CHRIST" shall all be made alive.

    But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming"

    What an marvelous saying!!

    The key is being "in Christ"

    This is the baptism he came to perform on all those who accepts him as savior! ( Jews and Gentiles alike)

    This is what Paul is saying in 1 Corinthians 12:13. "unto the Jews first and then to the Gentiles"

    This is what John the Baptist is saying to the Jews when preparing the way for their Messiah.

    THE RESURRECTION.



    The belief in the resurrection of the body is an vital aspect of our faith as we see in 1 Corinthians 15:17-20

    Also the resurrection promotes a "New birth" taken place!

    This is where the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead quickens our mortal bodies as mentioned in Romans 8:11-14.

    So, we are baptized into Jesus death as mentioned in Romans 6:3.

    Romans 6:4-11 gives us our present state by the power of the Holyspirit.

    Verse 11 says we are to reckon "or to recognize" ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    We have been given an earnest of the Holyspirit to will and perform inside us!

    So, We have been given the earnest of the Spirit,

    Sealed and predestinated, with a promise of redemption for the purchased possession. "by the blood of Christ."

    This is what the resurrection means to us.

    More on the Tribulation

    And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. ( John 8:35).

    When we consider the state of the human soul as well as the angelic realm we realize that access to the heavenly abode is only for those who kept their first estate; as opposed to those mentioned in Jude 6 who fell away after Lucifer's deception. Such is the case as well for men; unregenerate men are truly slaves to sin ( Romans 6:20). We find that our freedom indeed puts us into bondage while being a servant of Christ brings victory.

    It is tempting to include some verses from secular songs which at least admit to the dazzling display that Satan appearing as an angel of light uses to delude the masses. ( 2 Cor. 11:14). Since he can no longer magnify God's name; Satan and his minions can only appeal to the nature of man; as he did when influencing Peter to speak as he did about Christ ( Matthew 16:23). Men's thoughts are on self preservation; not sacrificial love. We want to keep close those who are closest to us; which isn't necessarily wrong in itself but is if God is subservient; thus we hate our lives and keep it ( John 12:25). Hence is the paradox of living in Christ and it will come to it's fullest realization during the fires of the Tribulation. It is hard to comprehend just how powerful the delusion will be mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:11. GOD sends the strong delusion! As stated previously; the trumpet judgments still won't deter the world of it's sins; and in Revelation 9:14-21 after the 200,000,000 demon horde kill one third of all of the earth people STILL won't stop their abominable acts. Keep in mind this is well after the sixth SEAL where people at that time are still hiding in caves and fully aware of God and Christ on their thrones beginning judgment ( Rev. 6:16-17).

    This of course will lead to the delusion mentioned in Psalm 2 and Revelation 19 where men come together at Armageddon and eventually try to fight God.

    Essential doctrines

    To know Christ and to make Him known is the theme of the Navigators ministry and correlates with 1 John and other passages.

    This is a good summary of understanding the personal meaning of Christ's sacrifice on the cross for atonement as well as our duties fulfilling our part in the Great Commission.

    I imagine most here know the necessary doctrines of believing Christ is a member of the Godhead and thus Divinity Himself who was the only one who could atone for sins (as the sinless spotless Lamb of God) by becoming a man as we are without sin and remaining so throughout His earthly ministry; then dying on the cross and resurrecting from the dead 3 days later. Finally; He is to return once again physically to rule and reign on the earth.

    2 Timothy 2:8 and 2 Thessalonians 2:2 show we should avoid the error of stating that the resurrection has already occurred or the day of the Lord is at hand. Matthew 24:26 states that the Lord hasn't come yet for those who say He is hiding somewhere and also states the likeness of His arrival as lightning in the very next verse. This should be enough to disclaim what Preterists state that the Lord has already come. Therefore I would contend that full Preterists that state this are far enough off in doctrine that we should avoid fellowship with them.

    Assuming we have the essentials of salvation straightened out; there are many other warnings and admonitions in scripture such as testing ourselves to see if we are in the faith would involve ( 2 Corinthians 13:5). We need to accept that doctrines aren't just what is required to be saved; but also what is necessary to prove that we are bringing fruits worthy of repentance ( Matthew 3:8 and many other similar verses). We are not subject to the law in some sense IF we are truly dead to sin ( Romans 6:11) in one sense; because we have a new nature; but in the same token we DESIRE to obey Christ and love and serve Him as Lord; Master and Savior.

    Romans 6:11-14: in essence here, Paul urges the believers to 'calculate' ("reckon", from reading his earlier words) that you are 'dead' (separated) from sin; if separated, to no longer yield your bodies & minds as instruments of unrighteousness but unto righteousness. To do this, we must not let sin reign (have rulership/dominion) over us, but allow Christ to have full control. But when we do sin, does this mean that we are completely given over to sin & have left Christ (just as some might misuse God Grace, finding licence to sin because of it)? Again, Paul states (v16) that we are no longer servants to sin but unto God: we live unto God, we are His 'servants'. Even if afflicted by temptation & sin, this does not make us servants to sin (that sin becomes our master). Our bodies will always find some occasion to sin, but our longing & desire is to please Him Who gave His all for us, that He will reign in our lives & we should never place our sinful compulsions on our throne.

    And so we go to Romans chapter 7. After Paul writes about the Law & its exposing of sin in man, he then writes about his personal battle with this & even the present struggle he has in his war with sin rearing itself in him coming against his new nature. But does Paul surrender to "the law of sin (that is found) in his body" (v23)? Some might say that he does, when he writes, 'with my mind I serve the Law of God, but in my flesh, the law of sin'. But knowing Paul's hatred of all things sinful & his urging his readers to think likewise, Paul could never get away from the fact that sin would always rear its ugly head in one form or another. That wasn't the issue with Paul - he accepted that was his lot, as is ours also - what mattered to him was that through the power of Christ in Him, he could now live unto God, with God on the Throne & no longer the sin that had control over him - the old Law gave him no respite from sin or healing.     Hello Momsage. My apologies, and No, I didn't see your other three posts at the time, since they were not joined to the one I responded to (i.e. the one addressed to me). I've now collated the others together & will respond.

    As I read them, in support of your belief, you've used Romans chapter 6 and I'll try to deal with a few applicable verses.

    Romans 6:2: "dead to sin". Death has always denoted 'separation', never extinction. Physical death: separation of spirit from body; Spiritual death: separation of a person from God; Eternal death: eternal separation from God. So 'death to sin' is a separation from the ruling power of sin in one's life - never an extinction of sin or even the capacity to sin.

    Romans 6:6,7: "crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sinFor he that is dead is freed from sin". The Greek word for 'destroyed' (in this instance) is 'katargeo', which means, 'to render inoperative/impotent or abolish'. Or, in another way, 'that the body of sin might cease/be abolished as an instrument of sin'. What we once were, caring little about our sins & its repercussions, now "in Christ" & His Spirit within us, we no longer desire for that life of careless sinful living, we no longer want to be its servants, subjugated to it, but now serving the Lord & dealing with sin as our enemy & not our desirable companion. So "he that is dead (separated, by virtue of Christ's death & our dying unto Him), is freed from sin (not by not ever committing any sin, but freed (having been abolished) from its power, its destructive forces, & its damnable end).     The whole reason you are still struggling with these sins is because you don't believe you can get them completely, totally out of your life. You can, if you believe in the sanctifying blood of Jesus and the strength of the Holy Spirit. We are also sanctified so that our human nature to sin is under the blood and it is eradicated. It has no more power over us as long as we give over to God during temptation and have faith that in Him that we will be able to overcome the temptation so we don't HAVE to sin, not so we CAN sin with impunity because we "can't" help it. This is so wrong. Why wouldn't you want to stop struggling with these sins and eradicate them form your life completely?

    Here are some scriptures that tell this truth to us by God Himself:

    Ephesians 4:22

    "If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye PUT OFF concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye PUT ON THE NEW MAN, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (emphasis' are mine)

    Romans 6:6 "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."

    Romans 6: 12-14

    "Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts.

    Hi Adam:

    I agree there are many people who claim they are "Christians" but don't walk the walk, however, I don't quite understand what you mean that Paul hadn't reached "salvation." Salvation is when we sincerely repent and accept Christ as our Savior and we are in God's good graces, we can trust that Heaven is our destination as long as we continue to walk in the Spirit. Paul was definitely saved, a true believer. It's perfection in the Christian life that we want to reach for, through the perfecting power of the Holy Spirit. We learn how to reach this perfection by sincere, consistent prayer, study of God's word and fasting, in always loving our Savior and by living a holy, righteous life, WITHOUT sin, which we must do. Some people believe that because we are human we are too weak to live without sin (sinning/christian doctrine) but to me that also says that the redeeming, divine blood of Christ is too weak to overcome our sinful natures. Not So! This doctrine ignores that we CAN live without the "old man nature" because Christ told us to. See Eph 4:21-24, Galatians 5:16, Galatians 5:19-21 and Galatians 5:24. This doctrine doesn't differentiate between faults/weaknesses, (same thing), and sins. EXAMPLE: If you are angry and jealous with someone at work and you always want to lash out at them but instead you trust the Holy Spirit to keep you from lashing out and to learn to love this person in Him, it stays a weakness until eventually the anger and jealousy change to the patient love of Christ and the weakness is overcome. But if you give in to the anger and jealousy and are always sullen and unkind to this person this mindset is sinful, your soul is in danger of being lost. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." These two promises don't go together, they are an either/or promise from God. One is for sin, the other for righteousness. God bless :)

    Hebrews 11:1 states: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." In my last post I discussed the concept of repentance and that it isn't something we merely learn by our own wisdom or intuition but that it is a gift from God as many scriptures state. 2 Timothy 2:25 as well as scriptures in Acts; 2 Peter and Romans show how repentance is granted or given by the Lord. As stated in my earlier comments no contrition on our part is able to save us. This is not to say; however that the admonition in Romans 6:1-2 isn't pertinent; we shouldn't seek to sin more for more grace. Our testimony should come from a genuine admission of realization of our state before salvation. We realize that we are no better than a murderer; adulterer or any other sinner that is repugnant to society at large. Of course our NATURE has to be understood; or else we are as Judas Iscariot did just sorry for our actions rather than realizing the cause is a rotten heart needing to die to itself and be rebirthed. Peter had a downfall and Thomas doubted but they recognized the Lord when He made Himself known to them.

    My earlier statements should by no means detract from the importance of emulating external actions which are outflows of GOOD FRUIT in our lives. 1 Corinthians 11:1 (easy to memorize with this numbering) gives Paul's exhortation to imitate him as he imitates Christ. Demonstrations of such behaviors are much like a parent to a child in this case. How we need such examples in church leadership today! How many of these mega pastors live even close to Paul who would work for himself so as not to burden the churches and suffer as he did with deprivation and imprisonment for the cause of Christ?

    We are not to idolize people but those of Godly character should motivate us; and also bring the fear of the Lord and His holiness to unbelievers as Paul did with the prison guard ( Acts 16:30-33). Our lifestyles must back up our words.

    We need to understand that we can criticize someone without condemning them.

    As I understand it, to "condemn" someone means to pronounce that they are lost and going to hell.

    But if someone says to you, "I think you're wrong on this issue," They have not condemned you.

    We live in a culture where criticism is not popular. If you criticize anyone, you're labeled judgmental, hypocritical, and pharisaical.

    In the Christian community we need to be criticized or corrected, "when we are doing something wrong, when we are neglecting some good thing we should be doing. when we are teaching something that is false. ect ect..

    Scripture should always be the standard by which we criticize/reprove and make sure you are the right person to do the criticizing.

    When We Criticize, We Need to do it with Love and probably in person, "Not a letter"

    As it pertains to "condemning," there is certainly a time when we should express to people that they are in a lost condition. If someone is not "in Christ,"

    The bible certainly can be used in this area!

    There is lots of Scripture on the behavior of a true believer.

    " Romans 6:1-4 comes to mind.

    We have to tell them the truth!

    He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue. Proverbs 28:23).

    I would rather display my love by telling them the truth and risk losing them as a friend than to tell them nothing and risk seeing them continue in a Sin that can send them to Hell.

    Perhaps you can ease them into a conversation on Salvation and ask them are they saved, and their answer will give you a starting point.

    Don't forget to ask them, "By what means"

    PS. A unsaved person needs to know the work of Christ on the cross.

    A saved person, "or one that profess to be saved needs to understand the work of the Holyspirit.

    There is absolutely no works to be done for Salvation in CHRIST. Ephesians 2:

    8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

    9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

    Water baptism is not a requirement of salvation. Romans 6:

    3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

    4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

    5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

    When we are Scripturally born again we have been made justified in CHRIST, no longer bound for hell or the lake of fire. We are then called to do the work of the LORD which is called sanctification. v10 of Ephesians 2.

    Salvation is only by faith alone, in the shed blood alone, of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

    May GOD open the hearts of all unto the sufficiency of the Gospel of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

    Pt 1

    There are terms in the Bible such as twice dead and Second death. " Jude 1:12, Revelation 2:11, Revelation 20:14 and Revelation 21:8.

    Paul says in Romans 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

    Which death did he die? The 1st or the 2nd?

    An unbeliever is ALREADY dead! Yet he is still continuous.

    ( 1 Timothy 5:6.) This is a very common NT idiom. The word (noun) for "dead" is "nekros" and is used of physical death (obviously) but also spiritual death to describe an unsaved person who is physically alive but spiritually dead. Here are some examples:

    Matt 8:22 - But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."

    Eph 2:1 - As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

    Eph 2:5 - made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace you have been saved.

    Eph 5:14 - This is why it is said: "Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.

    Col 2:13 - When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins.

    Eternal Salvation is life! It is separation from this Body/Tabernacle of death.

    In Romans 6:3 we see the sacrificial Lamb at work.

    In Romans 6:4-5 we see the NEW BIRTH and the first fruit of the Resurrection. This is the 1st Resurrection.

    You are either dead right now or you have life right now!

    Those who have life has already died once and has been born again, never to die again.

    "Eternal life speaks of "spiritual life and death".

    That's the only death a believer has. "He's already been born again"

    Those who are dead is already spiritual dead and their bodies will soon die, and they will remain spiritual dead throughout eternity.

    The bible doesn't say anything about being unconscious after the body dies. It has lots of scripture describing conscious.

    If the grave is Hell, the Bible never says anything about the saved going there.

    Dear sir, the Bible says we are dead to sin! When Jesus Christ was crucified, we were. When Jesus was buried, we were. When Jesus rose, we rose! When we get saved, we are (Spirit) baptized into Jesus Christ! This is all laid out perfectly in Romans 6:1-10 (Please read.) What are we to do now that we know the wonderful truth? Finish reading the chapter. We are to simply reckon it to be true, and yield are bodies to God, our precious Saviour. This is the truth of what GOD said. Believe him and rest in him!     Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Here, we see a gift of God being given, and that gift is eternal life. Since God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are eternal, and I receive the gift of the Holy Spirit as it says in Acts 2:38, I believe I can say I have received eternal life. I can say that I have the eternal one living in me, and He has promised to never leave me.

    Eternal life for me began the day that I was born of God's Spirit, the day I received Christ. Now if Christ is not eternal, then I cannot say I have eternal life. But if Christ is eternal, and He lives in me, then I can say with confidence that I currently have eternal life. Jesus said that He would never leave me nor forsake me. So, the question I must ask is when I physically die, does Jesus also remain in the grave with me and sleep?



    Ronald, my apologies if this was too long. I do thank you for sharing what you believe. We both know that we will not always agree with each other on everything, but you have shared many things that I do agree with you on, and I hope that I have done the same.

    If I may add a few points to this subject, I know we have different understandings on this and I hope you will not be offended, these are questions I have asked myself. What does Scripture support, our soul is an immortal entity that consciously lives on after the death of the body or does it sleep in the grave until the resurrection? Is the definition of death a separation of the soul from the body or is it the end of life, a permanent cessation, and the grave is our home until we are resurrected?

    John 3:15-16 Without the belief in Jesus we will perish the Greek word apollumi means destroy utterly, to put out of the way entirely, abolish as in Psalms 37:10 Psalms 92:7 Proverbs 10:28-29 Job 20:4-7 Malachi 4:1-3 2 Peter 2:12.

    Matthew 10:28 we are to fear the one who can destroy the body and the soul in hell, the Greek word for destroy is apollumi same as perish, a permanent/absolute destruction. Hell, the Greek word is geenna the fire and smoke that goes up and burns forever that never goes out is a reference to the lake of fire. Job 17:13 the Hebrew word sheol is the same word translated as hell. Job 17:16 the word pit is the same Hebrew word.

    Our first death is sleep, Psalms 13:3 Daniel 12:2 Acts 13:36 1 Cor. 15:51. If all souls are immortal which means they have eternal life, the question must be asked, what is the gift of eternal life we see in John 3:15 John 6:54 Romans 6:23 Titus 1:2 1 John 2:25 Jude 1:21? If our soul is immortal, why do we have to put immortality on as said in 1 Corinthians 15:51-58?

    Where in the bible does it say that the soul will cease to exist? If anyone ceases to exist when they die, can you please answer these questions. I will be the student here, so you have my attention. If you choose to answer these things, I do thank you ahead of time.

    In Matthew 25:46, Is this not describing two classes of people, those who received Christ and belong to Him, and those who have rejected Him? If those who reject Him die and cease to exist, how can they go away into eternal punishment if they do not exist?

    Revelation 14:11 says that the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and they have no rest, day or night. How can this be for someone that does not exist?

    Hebrews 9:27 tells us that it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment. How can anyone who dies and ceases to exist be judged since this judgment comes (after) death?

    Revelation 21:8 identifies a class of individuals who will end up in the lake of fire, and it also mentions that this is the second death. If they went through the first death and ceased to exist, how can they experience a second death if they do not exist?

    2 Thessalonians 1:9 says that they will suffer the punishment of (eternal destruction), away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might. How is ceasing to exist considered suffering?

    Jema, since Romans 6:23 has been quoted which says that the wages of sin is death, how do you get cease to exist out of this word death when the Greek word used (Thanatos) means separation, not cessation of life? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say that at death, there is a separation from our physical body since this is what the word death means?

    Revelation 14:10 talks about being tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. Who is this for and how long will this torment last?

    Dors not cancel what Jesus said or what Paul says to sin no more. 1st John 1:8 is not at all saying "if we say we have no sin that we commit everyday we deceive ourselves. 1st John 1:8 is referring to 1st John 1:3-4 writing to people how to have fellowship with John to be called a Christian and not a sinner any more as all sin is of the devil period 1st John 3:8. When we come to Christ we where all sinners as all has come short of the glory of God Romans 3:23. John is giving out the plan of salvation how to be saved.

    All means all not just one or two things in your life. Jesus never died for one sin or two things he died so all sin can be washed forgiven and forgotten.

    Get out of get into verse 9 to confess your sin. If you want to be in verse 8 be my guess, you are going to roast, you are going to burn. Verse 9 tells me he is just and able to forgive all sin and NOT just not one or two things.

    1st John 1:9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

    [10] If we say that we have not sinn((ed)), we make him a liar, and his word is not in us

    According to the bible in 1st John 1:6, you are the liar as you claim salvation, you claim fellowship to be a brother of Jesus Christ, and yet you are still walking like the devil hand in hand with him. Obviously, you were told a lie believing you are walking with Jesus when in reality you are walking with the devil in sin.

    1st John 1:6] If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness,((sin)) we lie, and do not the truth:

    [7] But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

    We are to be dead unto sin once Romans 6:10-12. Jesus died unto sin once and not over and over to sin and repent as you are calling Jesus a liar and putting him to an open shame. No sinner can make heaven no matter how you slice it as all sin is of the devil.

    Again a very backwards teaching as we are washed from sin not cleansed. The reason why you sin and can't stop sinning is because you are a slave to it a slave to the devil. The apostle Paul preached in Romans 6:18 "Being then made free from sin ye become the servants of righteousness" (Jesus) The apostle Paul is just like me an ex-sinner saved by grace.

    John 8:34] Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

    [35] And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

    [36] If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

    The apostle Paul did not say he sins daily. He dies daily and not to sin, but to the things of the world. We have to die daily as Paul picked up from Jesus teaching.

    John 9:41] Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

    We are to be blind remain dead to sin but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. The wages of sin is death/hell firer and brimstone. The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of heaven. This eliminates 99% of all Christians as they claim they can not be righteous free from sin.

    1st Cor 6:9] Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

    Romans 6:[20] For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.

    [21] What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.

    [22] But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

    Good luck in being heard as God does not hear the prays of sinners. We see this everyday people dying in the hospital or looking for an out because of their pain and God hasn't heard them yet. A saved sinner means is a righteous person.

    If nobody is without sin then nobody is going to heaven. Jesus told people in John 5:14 "go and sin no more." The Bible says in 1st John 3:8 "he that commith sin is of the devil..." no such verse as you sin because you are of God or Jesus. The wages of sin is hell fire and brimstone Romans 6:23. It pays to sin, it pays to serve the devil, your wage or payment is called death and not life eternal. Sinless people after the cross as Christ came to wash away sin and not make a new type of sinner called Christian sinners.

    The apostle Paul just like me is an ex-sinner saved by grace Romans 6:18. If nobody can be free from sin, Jesus died for nothing. The Bible makes it clear God does not hear the prayers uttered by sinners John 9:31.

    Romans 6:16] Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

    The apostle Paul was free from sin after he was saved, Peter, John, James, etc. All ex-sinners as they knew that sin is deceitful and only brings death. Why sin? Why walk in sickness, darkness, and death?

    John 9:31] Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

    Christianity all around the world believe for the most part God loves them and they are saved by grace and yet they still sin. This is not what the bible says at all in John 9:31. The blind man was kicked out of church for preaching the truth. This is something that was known and not some new doctrine or directive issued by the church council or church meetings that God does not hear the prayer of sinners. The ex-blind man who went to church all his life never read the book of the law as brail was not invented yet for people to read. Yet, he heard something from behind the pulpit that stood out in his mind, unlike any other verse or scripture. I believe Isaiah 59:1-2 was reinforced into his mind over and over again in order for the ex-blind man to come up with the truth.

    Isaiah 59:1] Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

    [2] But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

    The ex-blind man was excommunicated from his church for preaching the truth. You go down and preach what the ex-blind man in John 9 preached and you will be out in the street. Churches don't want to hear God does not hear the prayers of sinners. Churches want to indulge in their riot with their ungodly events and way of living for the devil up to their neck in sin and unrighteousness. To get churches to go back to the old ways of revival like Jeremiah 6:16 will never happen, as they have tasted too much of the world and the devil's delights and are not interested in engaging with the words of Jesus Christ which are spirit and life John 6:63. All sin is of the devil 1st John 3:8. Tge wages or payment is called hellfire and brimstone Romans 6:23. I am an ex-sinner saved by grace, an ex-sinner is a righteous person Romans 6:18.

    Hello Bmccaugh58. The answers to your questions are actually found throughout the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation), because the Bible essentially shows us how far mankind has fallen away from his Creator (because of sin), the repercussions we face from living in such a sinful state, & what God has done to offer correction & help, or else, judgement. So, one merely has to read through the Bible (even in your daily devotions/readings) & will see how people, yes all of us, have done wrong towards God & man & what subsequently entails from that. Some will learn & be corrected & then restored - others will persist in their evil ways & face God's Judgement.

    So, here are some passages to start you off, but in your reading of the Bible, God's Spirit will alert you to what you seek or even where some action needs to be taken in your own life.

    For "Consequences", see: Genesis 2:15-17; Genesis 3:16-19; Deuteronomy 28:1,2,15; 1 Kings 11:9-11; Job 4:8,9; Isaiah 59:2; Jeremiah 17:9,10; Matthew 27:3-5; Romans 6:23; Romans 13:4; Galatians 6:7,8; 1 Timothy 5:8; James 2:10; Revelation 20:12-15.

    For "Correction", see: Proverbs 22:6; Proverbs 29:15; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Galatians 6:1; Ephesians 6:4; 2 Timothy 4:2; Hebrews 12:5-11; Revelation 3:19.

    These are just a very few Scriptures, reminding us that there will always be consequences for our actions, not just in our dealings with each other, but more importantly, as we stand before God.     I disagree: the Lamb takes away this single "SIN" not the penalty of this single "SIN" and if this single "SIN" is not purged out of US: the PENALTY STANDS

    This is the ONLY "SIN" not covered by the Lamb's blood.

    God's word tells us what this single "SIN" is.

    John 16:8 And when he is come he will reprove the world of "SIN"

    This is the same single "SIN" and same world of John 1:29

    This is the same single "SIN" that keep the children of Israel from entering the promised land, the PENALTY: they DIED in the wilderness.

    And what purges this "SIN"

    Proverbs 16:6 By TRUTH and MERCY iniquity is PURGED.

    Christ is the spirit of TRUTH, and when he IS COME he will reprove the world of UNBELIEF.

    Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins (plural) of many and unto them who look for him shall he appear the second time without "SIN" (singular)(unbelief) unto salvation.

    Those are actually very good questions.

    Yo asked; Do I sin?

    Then you stated the following and asked another question;

    "You will say, but I confess my sins and ask for forgiveness."

    Your second question;

    What happen if you miss one sin, and asking forgiveness, of just one sin you might have overlooked?

    Jordyn, When I came to Christ I confessed that I am a sinner and in need of a savior.

    I wasn't let off the hook when God saved me.

    We know there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. Hebrews 9:22.

    The wages of sin is death.

    Romans 6:23.

    John 1:29 says The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the "SIN" of the world. That sin is singular. This speaks of the penalty of sin.

    That takes care of the deficiency of this body of death that is waiting for redemption.

    The question today is did Christ pay the redeeming price for our sins before we sinned or after.

    He paid the penalty for our sin "before" we sinned, and this was ordained of him before the foundation of the world.

    So, I may have missed a sin but he certainly did not.
