My understanding of God's part in salvation is that the sin nature is never removed; if it were, then we would be sinless, as Jesus was, & which of us could make that claim. Our salvation is dependent on God's forgiveness of our sin because of His Son's Sacrifice. In that sense our sins were taken away for He no longer charges us with them nor holds them to our account. Under the Old Covenant, the blood of animals was only a temporary covering for their sin & to secure God's forgiveness each year ( Hebrews 10:4) & pointed forward when the shed Blood of Jesus would be a once only event ( Romans 6:10), Him being God's Provision of the Perfect Sacrifice that gave total efficacy.
"How can the Holy Spirit dwell inside a corrupt temple". One could also ask how could God choose to dwell between the cherubim & over the Mercy Seat in the earthly Tabernacle? God chose to be there in spite of sinful men around & on a corrupt Earth. Our temple might be corrupt & decaying, but the Spirit gives us a renewed spirit with whom He chooses to dwell beside & minister to. The old nature remains, to which Satan has his appeal, & to whom we battle day after day seeking victory over temptation & sin. For anyone to claim that they never sin after being born again, either doesn't know what sin is or is deluding themselves to believing that that is their state. And I'm not talking about a life of sin, but the sins which comes to all of us & to which we may fail to find victory.
After reading more about Lordship Salvation (LS), I actually seem to agree with it, when one considers its antithesis, "Easy Believism", which I certainly don't espouse to. You wrote that LS, as you've recently learned, is heresy. You also wrote about it: "Our attempts at obeying God don't save us from sin! Nor do they "keep" us saved or "maintain" our salvation. Forgive my ignorance, but does LS actually infer that obedience to God saves us/keeps us saved from sin, likewise, disobedience causes loss of salvation?
I couldn't find the above claims by those proponents of LS, rather that it is a correct understanding of Scripture, to indicate that a person truly saved by the Blood of Christ & reborn, will in all seriousness & compulsion, want to live for the One Who purchased him & be His disciple in all areas of life. There will be times of falling into sin, not unrestrained sin of course, but the Spirit within will immediately impress conviction, with great spiritual discomfort & a requirement to seek forgiveness & change. If he should neglect this & continue to persist in disobedience, then his testimony before the Lord might seem hypocritical to us, but ultimately to be judged & dealt with by the Lord & not us.
So, what I'm saying, is that I agree with you, it's just that I'm unaware of LS propagating a teaching of 'salvation through Christ & the keeping of the Law'. Of course, I have other views of the application of the Law in the life of the believer in Christ: but that's another matter for another time. Blessings.
I hope I'm not misunderstanding you, & please forgive me if I am. But the Bible states otherwise than your overall message.
While it's true that many church institutions (& traditions) teach lies, & while it's true that nobody who lives in (I guess you mean habitual) sin is free from sin, not one of us is, has been, or ever will be able, in this life, to be free from sin by trying to obey all of God's laws.
It's impossible for us to do this perfectly, 100% of the time, & under or in any & all circumstances! That's why Jesus Christ did it for us instead, praise Him!
I once thought Lordship Salvation (which your message seems to espouse) was correct, but recently I (& others) have learned that it's a heresy.

Repentance is important in salvation & for sanctification, but repentance (or anyone/thing else, includ. the keeping of the Law) isn't the Savior, the Son of God is.
Jesus Christ is the only one who kept the Law perfectly & was, is, & will always be sinless; He is our perfect & complete sacrifice for our sins!
I pray that you & others would see this truth! It isn't right that anyone should be held in bondage to this legalistic, joy-destroying, Christ-depreciating false gospel.

The Old Testament was given to Israel and they were supposed to be a witness to the world:
Declare his glory among the heathen; his marvellous works among all nations. ( 1 Chronicles 16:24)
It was also given for us to learn the ways of the LORD by it:
Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. ( 1 Corinthians 10:11)
The New Testament is for the world to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ whereby whosoever will come unto him shall be saved.
The soul that sinneth, it shall die:
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.( Romans 6:23)
There is a second death:
And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. And this was to happen after our first parents, Adam & Eve, sinned against God. But God, in His great Love for mankind, His creation, stepped in with a solution to this sin problem. God can't overlook sin because sin is not from Him but from Satan. And since one way to make payment for sin was for the death of the sinner, the other way, which God planned, was for a substitute to take the place of the sinner. But that substitute had to be pure & perfect, which sinful man could not be (that means man cannot pay for his own sin). The only Substitute that would work for God was to send Jesus, His Son, to make the payment. However, that time was long coming as God had a purpose for withholding Him, so God instituted an animal sacrificial system for His people, Israel, as a temporary measure: so that they would acknowledge their sins & the need to pay for it through sacrifice.
Since that sacrifice was only temporary, at the right time, God sent Jesus to Earth to ultimately give up His Life for us sinners. But every sinner has to accept that offering & put their trust in Him ( John 3:16). So now there is no need for anymore sacrifices as Jesus was the Perfect & only One sent by God. So Jesus' shed Blood & broken Body was necessary to satisfy God for our sins & so we say that "our sins have been remitted" (our sins have been forgiven & removed & we're no longer accounted by God as being punishable ( Romans 3:23-25)); just like a judge on Earth declares a convicted person as no longer guilty & he is free to go. But just as the prisoner still has to pay for any crime he commits later, so a Christian who sins in error is accountable to God & seeks His forgiveness.
The key to victorious living is receiving the truth that we have been crucified with Christ - we were baptized into His death. We died with Him was buried with Him and rose again with. We also ascended with Him seated at the right hand of the Father in Him. Eph 2:6.
He told us to seek the kingdom of God first and then all these things would added unto us. God also tells us to be patient . Wait on him. God never fails he's alway true and faithful . Its people who let Hid down by not trusting in his word and living his word , not just saying your a Christian, but actually living it out the Bible way .
Yes we can all live it . God said in Several Chapters Go an sin No more . Would God tell us to Not sin if we couldn't do it by his help and Grace? No, he wouldn't . John 3 ch. John 8 ch. , John 5 ch. Romans 6:1-2 Romans 3:23-25 1 John 3:1-11 all these and there's more . We all need to be ready when the Lord comes back . Oh what a day of Rejoicing it will truly be fir his Saints .the really saved . Not just say I am when not. Can't go to Heaven with any type of sin in your life at all. None of us . 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 , Galatians 5:16-21.Gid came to show us the way he wants all Souls to be Saved Ezekiel 18:4. If we put God First he will give us also the desires of our heart to . But , we need to very careful what we ask for to have .It can hinder you in walking with God daily or even cause you to go astray from God and never get back .
If you Seek the kingdom of God First Let God Know you truly want to live for him and do as his word tells us and do it from the Heart . Let God know your willing to do it his way . Get o. Hi Jackie, I believe salvation absolutely has to do with what we do or don't do. The reason I believe that is the entire gospel is based on someone taking action. People who do nothing by default will go to hell. Jesus says you must believe. That is an action. He calls people to follow Him- that's an action. He calls people to repent and confess of their sin- that's an action. Loving is an action. Acting like a Christian is an action. God gave us the gift of freewill to choose, which is an action. He loved us enough to give us a choice to follow Him. Good works are not bad. I hear some people saying it's bad to be good and that seems to have the stamp of the devil on it. While it's true we're saved by grace and not by works, we don't have grace if we don't believe or follow Jesus in the first place.
It's possible you meant good works only by your comment, but my point is that our actions absolutely determine where we're going. If it didn't, Jesus would not have spent so much time telling parables about how most people will go to hell and how to avoid that, and to avoid sin, and don't be of this world. There's been false teachings spread around lately among Christians who are saying it's totally ok to sin and be in the world and that's the opposite of what the Bible says.

So we have Mt 14:33, "Of a truth thou art the Son of God." And Luke 1:32, "be called the Son of the Highest."
According to your understanding, using these verses to the exclusion of any other verse that could add to the understanding that Jesus is the Christ, the One born of God & called the Son of God, we would have to overlook portions such as John 1:1-14 as 'secondary' & unworthy for inclusion into the primary meaning & understanding of Jesus Christ. So if you consider the John 1 portion as changing or altering the Truth about the Son of God, then how do you arrive at that conclusion? And if it indeed does so, & we thereby do disservice to the Word by including it with God's Son, then I ask, what do we actually do with such Scriptures? Could this Word of God, both very God & with God & then becoming flesh to dwell on the Earth, not actually pertain to Jesus? Then to whom & how are we to read this & understand this? I've tried looking at with all the possibilities I can, but still it hits me as I read it. Even if I don't understand how this can happen, do I have to conclude that this portion has some other meaning?
Using your Romans 6:23 example: "For the wages of sin is death" as all we need to know about this Truth. So if I then read Isaiah 59:2, telling me that my iniquities have separated me from God only, but not consigned me to death, I would be perplexed.
Or Mark 9:43-47: for me to escape hell fire for my sins, all I have to do is to remove my hand or eye or foot that consigns me to hell. Rather, to help me understand further that my sins result in death (both physically & spiritually), it helps to know that I'm separated & also to deal with the trigger for my sin.
Apostle Paul spoke of this in Romans 6:11-14: "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body....Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you..."
Paul was speaking of that one sin offering that Christ made for us - that He died only once (& no more) for our sin. In like manner we should have this same mind as He did & appropriate our dying to sin as a past experience, but our ongoing quest to not resurrect sin but to yield our mind/our desires/our members towards pleasing the Lord in all that we do. Easy to say but hard to do, eh?
God has not left us without witness & help ( John 14:16-18). We have to grab onto His Holy Spirit & not let Him go until we realize victory over that sin that so easily besets us. We need to first hate the sin & then with the Spirit's Strength to immediately look to Jesus, the Author & Perfecter of our faith, & oppose the enemy's taunts with the Word of God. Why we fail, is not because of any failure by God, but of our failure to Him to despise the very thing that He hates rather we entertain it by giving any excuse.
Our battle in this area is constant - many have made shipwreck of their faith by surrendering the battle. We fight on because we have our gaze on the Lord Jesus & "for the prize of our high calling of God in Christ Jesus". The fight will not be long.
Their faith which looked ahead & our faith also had to ultimately rest on a better Sacrifice bringing in a better Covenant ( Hebrews 7:19,22). Their faith had to find its hope in Jesus, God's Sacrifice, as ours also, post-Cross, does. Their justification & ours also rest in the Holy One from God. There has been no other way for anyone to be cleansed, forgiven & accepted. To the Gentile unreached with the Gospel, Romans 2:12-16 speaks of these who are also subject to the law written within them & by this law they are judged & will perish, as the law accuses them or they find excuse to sin. But why should they be condemned if Christ is not preached to them? Again, are there any readied by God to go to them so they might hear & believe? We have heard of accounts of tribes so grateful for the Gospel to come, as their hearts have been prepared to look for & receive it. Then there have been those who have been violent to the message, bringing death to the messenger. Those such as Jim Elliot & his four companions reaching out to the Huaorani tribe in Ecuador; or John Chau missionary to the Sentinelese people in the Andaman Islands (off the E. Indian coast) were all martyred for Jesus.
Or, to the good, decent people we know of, yet never moved to hear or respond to the Gospel. Will their decency & goodness be sufficient to save them in spite of sin? Romans 6:23 and Titus 3:5,6, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour". Even 'all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags' in God's Sight, so as much as we would long & hope for the ultimate saving of even those still without Christ even in death, I believe the Scripture is clear that a person's response to the Cross in this life determines his fate & sadly that fate is both horrible & eternal.
Romans 10:4 - For Christ is the END OF THE LAW, for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Romans 6:14 - For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye ARE NOT under the law, but UNDER GRACE.
Romans 7:7 - What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Romans 3:31 - Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

What if a woman is Not married, and chooses to live single like Apostle Paul?

Why can't we believe a God who chose to die for the sins of many so we can attain the life everlasting? It could have been us who should be on that cross but no. Because of His richness in grace and mercy "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us". - Romans 5:8

Death is real. Hell is real.
That's why God sent Jesus once and for all to die for many once. He is not going to do it again.
That is why we need a Saviour. We can only be saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

David, I see that we are considering the same precious Scriptures yet with a different understanding. Of course, this is not the medium one can use for a detailed exposition of the Scriptures, so we're limited to a proper development of what was written & how we are required to understand it. Suffice to say, in respect of this matter, I see Romans 6:1, "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?" as the thrust of Paul's discourse. There were those in the Church who had a warped view of God's Grace (for past, present & future sins). Since God's Grace abounded towards them ( Rom 5:20, 21), then "why worry about sin, as all sin gets forgiven under God's abounding Grace". Paul had to refute that with Rom 6:1 & following verses. It is from here we disagree, as you understand that our "body of sin destroyed" (6:6), "freed from sin" (6:7), "dead to sin (6:11), etc. are all referring to both past, present & future removal of the sins & the old nature. I understand Paul was referring to the Law that only pointed to the fact of our sin, & that Law was now removed/cancelled by virtue of Jesus' death, thus enabling the believer to stand before God as righteous & justified based on the Perfect Sacrifice & no longer to be a servant of sin (which is of the Law).
Then in the Rom 7 passage which you believe speaks of Paul's 'previous life' before God, which has merit, except as said before, in verse 25, after all his introspection & abhorrence of the old nature, he exclaims (now, in the present), that through Jesus Christ he serves God (the new Law), but in the flesh (the old nature) he serves the Law of sin (the old Law). For us to include this verse 25 with the preceding verses as Paul's witness of the old life makes this verse meaningless if we're to keep the same 'past tense'.
Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. ( Romans 5:18-19)
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. ( Galatians 2:21)
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. ( Romans 6:14)
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God. For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. ( Romans 7:4-6)
Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law? For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise. Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar. For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all. ( Galatians 4:21-26)
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. ( Galatians 5:1)

This is a copy of the Covenant Law that defines sin according to God's Covenant Law that He gave to Moses to give to the Israelites. Under this Covenant Law, yes, all the things you mention would be sin if this Law was transgressed by the person that believes this Covenant Law applies to them.
I had to delete the copy of the entire Covenant Law because the discussion site said external links were not allowed.. I was hoping that would be the quickest and easiest way to explain the Covenant Law versus the Law of the land in which one lives
Here one small section of Romans where Paul preached freedom from this Covenant Law for all those that believe it applies to them.
Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
It appears to me that you have not believed with all your heart, mind, and soul that Jesus died for the sin of mankind on the cross. In other words according to what you have written, you believe you
If you feel compelled to take your first step towards God, you can do that right now wherever you are.
1. Acknowledge the Problem: We have all sinned, and that sin separates us from God
No matter how good you think you are, no matter how many good things you try to do, it is still not good enough to get into heaven; it can't be earned but is a gift.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

2. Discover the Solution: Jesus
The only way for God to bridge the gap between Himself and us is through His Son, Jesus Christ. His death was a substitute for us; He paid the penalty for our sins.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God." I Peter 3:18
"Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4:12
3. Respond: Believe, Repent, Confess, Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior
To be saved, we must believe that Jesus is Lord and believe that He died for our sins. This confession acknowledges before God that we are unable to attain righteousness on our own and that we accept His plan for our lives.

What of Matthew 1:21 He shall save them from sin. How can we be saved from sin if we continue to do it? The answer is you can't. God is not accepting those that are actively sinning into His kingdom or Heaven. In the beginning, Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden of Eden for their sin. Any that sins in the present tense is not in the kingdom of God. And living free from sin after repentance is possible through God's power not ours. Last thing, repentance is sorrow and gaining God's forgiveness from sins in the past, not ever for the present or future. If you sin presently, God's forgiving grace is voided by your disobedience. And if you harbor desire to sin in the future, God sees your intents and will not accept your repentance.
I believe the opposite of what you stated, because of what I see in the scriptures. God forgiving our sin and cleaning us is different than claiming someone cannot sin- that it's impossible. That's a logical leap into a whole different territory in which there's a mountain of scripture warning us against sin (including Christians) and no scriptures saying it's impossible for us to sin. It's also different than God 'not seeing sin' due to grace covering us as long as we're following Christ (a Christian). The old testament verses above do not mean someone cannot sin. If no one can sin, what's the point of asking for forgiveness? If no one can sin, what's the point of avoiding sin and striving to be perfect like Jesus said? If no one can sin, what's the point of spreading the gospel? If no one can sin, then you can ignore the Bible and just follow the world and do whatever sin you want with no consequence? The Bible already said that's not the case. Paul wrote about his fleshly struggles to sin- if there was no sin would it make sense that he would write that? If no sin, does that mean you can't blaspheme the holy spirit, either? Why would Jesus preach and challenge his followers with all these instructions if they couldn't sin and their actions were irrelevant. Satan is the father of lies and one of these teachings is truth and one is a lie. They are not both true. So, if satan was going to deceive someone is it likely they would deceive someone into being 'gooder' than they need to be or to be 'badder'- to convince them it's ok to sin, that you will surely 'not' be punished for it. To me that sounds like the same being behind the 1st temptation in the garden of eden- the father of lies is always not far away from any false teaching. Once saved, always saved is another teaching people often distort in order to justify sinning and blaspheming against God.

For example, I'd love to have premarital sex tonight, but I haven't before because I read in the Bible that it's a sin of fornication. So, if I follow your advice, since you say all future sins are forgiven, does that mean I can go ahead and have premarital sex tonight without any consequence from God?
Read Ephesians 6. Demons are invisible. But we can see their fruit when they are around. For you it is addictions and unable to stop it from destroying your life. It's name is bondage.

Loose the Spirit of Adoption on him.

Read these scriptures so you will understand that Satan is your problem. The demon of bondage is going to fight back, but you must rely on and plead the Holy Blood of Jesus of Nazareth over you and your family. Don't give up.
Cast the demons into outer darkness and dry places.
