    This scripture posting is intended to shine a light of truth to expose what has been deception sometimes posted here before by a few.

    Some have a problem with what Jesus said about obedience and keeping His commandments. Some may even demean what Jesus said and label these words a "works doctrine" or "legalist". A "Christ follower" attacking Christ. Be careful! End times are near.

    You state: "Do you really think that you will reach that perfection in this life? " Chris, I have faith in God that He would not tell us to do something that we can't do. John 5:14 John 8:11 Nothing is impossible for God! He can change us in the twinkling of an eye! If this is our goal he can help us accomplish it, but it requires Faith and never giving up!

    You state: "And what happens in the meantime, when what he believes is possible, actually is impossible - sin ever revealing itself without abating? " I would answer by saying that if you think that it's impossible, and you CAN'T do it, then it will probably never happen for you, until you exchange Can't do - for Can do. Also speaking for myself, for me to say it can't happen is to call God a liar, because he tells us we can James 4:7-10 So, it must be something we are doing, or not doing.

    You state: "You may have a different take on this, but I see that as with Paul, so also with us, the struggle with sin will never cease." I agree that Paul struggled against sin during his life, as all of us do, and Paul also states Romans 6:6-7 God tells us he will give us no temptation/sin that we can't overcome 1 Corinthians 10:13

    A ever increasing thought: One major obstacle in our lives that may be keeping us from achieving the perfect relationship with God is our death grip hold to this worldly life we enjoy.

    To Plaintalk, I say this in response.

    You quote Job 39:12 and you assign the "seed" to being the word of God. What you are doing is 'spiritualising' a statement of God to Job that was a literal question being put to Job by God that required from Job a literal answer. As Job had none aren't you being somewhat presumptuous here in your claims as to what the seed and the barn mean? An illustration of God's questioning of Job is shown in the verses below:

    Job 39:1 "Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth [their offspring]? or canst thou mark when the hinds do calve? 2 Canst thou number the months that they fulfil [their gestation]? or knowest thou the time when they bring forth?"

    Anyone can spiritualise scripture to make it say whatever they want it to say - but it doesn't mean that it is true. Therefore, I reject what you say about this verse.

    In regards to your view on John 12:24, although Jesus compares Himself to a grain of wheat as you say, His death was aimed to bring "many sons to glory" ( Hebrews 2:10) through the new birth ( John 3:3-8). Jesus could not establish a glorious church on Earth through His people unless He died and was glorified ( John 7:37-39; Acts 2:33; Eph. 1). Christians today are expected to die as Christ did - but NOT in the physical sense but in the spiritual sense:

    - In this, we are to crucify our 'Old Man' nature until "he" is DEAD - Romans 6:6.-

    - If we haven't, then spiritually speaking, God sees us as "walking in the flesh" ( Romans 8:1, 7).

    However, if we are truly "born-again", we will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others so as to bring more lost souls into God's kingdom. By doing this, we (as being that "corn of wheat) will then "...bringeth forth much fruit" - meaning, the lost souls into God's kingdom through personal evangelism, "...some [corns'] an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. 9 Who hath ears to hear, let him hear!" ( Matt 13:3-9).

    New Covenant vs Old Covenant.

    When comparing the two I believe the difference is in fruit barring.

    This is something that can only be done by being connected to the genuine vine. John 15:1-5.

    We can do nothing without Christ.

    These verses and many others is tied to this "working of the Holyspirit."

    Romans 6:5-10.

    Romans 8:11.

    This is the life giving spirit that we get once we truly believe.

    This is baptism!

    This is Christ in us, and we in him.

    Jesus said that those who abide in Him will bear much fruit. That fruit is more than ministry results, it is also the evidence of a life lived in God.

    IF WE'RE CONNECTED TO THE VINE WE WILL BARE FRUIT!

    But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5:22-23

    This is what the natural man can not do and what the OLD COVENANT couldn't produce.

    Galatians 5:17-18 says; "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

    BUT IF YE BE LED OF THE SPIRIT, YE ARE NOT UNDER THE LAW"

    Salvation is inward. It's a new heart that CAUSES you to produce fruit.

    It's not forced by command.

    Christ put his life giving Holyspirit IN you, and that "Holyspirit in you" won't turn you from him.

    It would be turning him from himself.

    Again; This is Christ in you, and we in him.

    Ephesians 4:30 is something the law and the Old covenant couldn't do. See; " Galatians 5:17-18"

    Now what you do, it is he that works in you! Philippians 2:13.

    By fruit we shall know them and by it, we can examine ourselves also.

    We can use Galatians 5:19-26 as a guide.

    Ephesians 4:1-16 is what every Christian should keep by his side.

    but if we continue in sin for life, as you have responsed to me, & believe that one cannot overcome sin in this life, than we're not IDENTIFIED with Christ death or resurrection. Consider what you're reading in Romans 6; It's speaking about Grace appearance within our hearts Titus 2:11,12; destroying all the works of the devil, Rom 6:14; by 2 Thessalonians 2:8; the man of sin, alais the son of perditon that rules the Adamic nature, the spirit of darkness who animates the son of disobedience. Daniel 2:22; for this purpose is the Son of God is manifested to destroy him, but what is that for those who continue in sin for life, but there condemnation.

    Jesus name declares His works, Matt 1:21 not in their sins.

    Hi Judy.

    To be baptized is to identify with.

    Jesus was baptized by John to fulfill all righteousness.

    Matthew 3:15.

    John's baptism was a baptism of repentance for the people of Israel.

    John came in the spirit of Elijah to turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers,

    Malachi 4:5-6.

    Jesus is the fulfillment of all God's work in the world.

    He is the goal and consummation of all God's saving activity.

    God sent John as the final herald of the King's return, and now Jesus comes in line with this and fulfills it by submitting to John's baptism.

    ( He was baptized to fulfill all righteousness, He was IDENTIFYING with all what was said of him in the OT. Prophet, King, Priest, ect.

    Jesus was 30 years old, The required age to enter the Leviticus Priesthood.

    Jesus was soon on his way to the cross where he would end that priesthood and covenant by dying and usher in a new covenant and a everlasting Priesthood.

    SIDE NOTE:

    Jesus had no sin so he had no need of repentance.

    John the baptist said Jesus would come and baptize with the Holyghost and with fire. Luke 3:16.

    He done this after his death and resurrection, He gave us an earnest of his spirit and sealed us until the day of redemption.

    We now are IDENTIFIED with Jesus death and resurrection.

    Romans 6:3-11.

    I will give you some of the scriptures that says we died on the cross with Christ and were raised with Christ, the first resurrection.

    2 Corinthians 5:14 .... that if ONE died for ALL,then were all DEAD.

    Colossians 3:3 For ye are DEAD, and your life is hid with Christ IN God.

    Romans 6:6 ....our old man is CRUCIFIED with him .......

    Galatians 2:20 I am CRUCIFIED with Christ: nevertheless I live, YET NOT I, but Christ liveth in ME .....

    Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised US UP TOGETHER ......

    Isaiah 26:9 Thy DEAD men shall arise, TOGETHER with my dead body shall they ARISE ....

    Revelation 20:6 Blessed and Holy is he that hath part in the FIRST RESURRECTION .....

    Thanks Frankie J. Just going through your comments, with my understanding from the Scriptures.

    a. 'You are in State 1, as in Eden before the fall' - I assume slowly progressing to attain the fullness of that state. The only problem with this is that you & I have a sin nature inherited from Adam & Eve, whereas before the fall Adam & Eve had no sin - they were pure. Romans 5:12-14. If we could ever reach that state before death, i.e. of total purity as A & E, there would be no need to die physically as sin would no longer be in our members & the sin nature once given without choice, would be eradicated. But death will come to all of us proving we are still sinners, and should the Lord tarry, our dying will prove without doubt that our inherited sin nature demands the death penalty ( Romans 6:23). For this Christ came, that we might be resurrected into new & eternal life because of His forgiveness of our sins thus giving us clear consciences before God.

    b. Paul never ever reached full purity or sinlessness ( Romans 7:14-25) - he would have yearned for it but he knew that while in this body that desire to be exactly like his Savior would be impossible. And his exclamation: "O wretched man that I am", was his constant sense of failure before an Holy God, but he kept his body in subjection & his eyes fixed on Jesus, aiming for the prize ( Philippians 3:12-14).

    c. I agree, 'being tempted is not a sin', even as Christ was tempted. But Jesus never gave in to it even to the agony of the Cross. Could we ever say the same for us sinners, destined for hell, but saved only by the Grace of God? The Work of the Spirit is constant & should be a witness inwardly & outwardly as we mature in faith & love - but our perfection will only come beyond the grave when our sin nature will be gone & "we will be like Him", both physically & when the flesh will be cleansed from all evil.     Thanks for replying.

    You said your faith is in Christ's sacrifice for your sin's. and that's where it should be.

    Abram believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

    He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; Romans 4:20.

    In Genesis 15:6-18 God made an unconditional promise to Abraham and performed it alone.

    The ritual that constitutes the covenant where they cut these animals in half and walk between them together and if one renege on the covenant what happened to the animals would happen to that person.

    God cannot lie so he was protecting Abraham when he entered the covenant alone.

    Issac was Abraham's heir and Abraham knew that God keeps his promises and he knew that God would have to raise him from the dead to keep his promises.

    God is Love but he is also a righteous judge. There is no where in scripture it says God saves us by his love. It says God so loved the world He provided us a savior and that savior was his Son. John 3:16.

    The bible teaches us the wages of sin is death and the gift of God through Christ is eternal life. Romans 6:20-23.

    The lost sinner's heart is energized by the ( Everlasting evil Spirit of this unrepentant world that is being held back by restraint of the Holyspirit.

    I believe in hell and those who go there will be tormented.

    Weeping and gnashing of teeth. Unquenchable fire.

    There would have to be an awareness of pain and agony to Weep and Nash teeth.

    And "Unquenchable fire" is unnecessary if it's unquenchable for no one.

    Matthew 22:13

    Psalm 112:10.

    The bible describes hell as a place of torment.

    You have to be awake to be tormented.

    James 1:15 illustrates the process of sin leading eventually to death. Thus; Adam began to die in all ways once he sinned; spiritually immediately as Ezekiel 18:20 indicates it affects the soul and the death in the body continues until eventually we return back to the dust we came from. Hence; there was immediate estrangement from God when Adam and Eve hid; and God pronounced the resulting curse in childbirth; tilling the earth is sweat with thistles and thorns; etc.

    We must also understand that there are those predestined to be in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world ( Ephesians 1:3-6). The opposite is true for the unregenerate as seen in Revelation 17:8. Christ's death was therefore part of a plan from before Creation where all those would hear His voice who were His sheep ( John 10:27). We must remember that His death was effective from what happened in time and space 2000 years ago. It also is retroactive; as it were in order to allow those who were of old to eventually in time and space have access to heaven (see Romans 6:9). Therefore; at the Rapture ( 1 Thess. 4:15) shall involve the Resurrection of all souls of deceased saints; followed by bodily ascension of those alive and remaining. There are some verses which seem to indicate O.T. saints may arise later on in say the Midpoint of the Tribulation or near the end; there is some debate on that question. Some already apparently were resurrected ( Matt. 27:52-56). This would have been a gleaning of the firstfruits; so to speak.

    My point here is predestination and the fact that God initiates repentance ( Acts 11:18); etc. There is such a thing as godly repentance and worldly ( 2 Cor. 7:10); illustrated by that of Peter and Judas Iscariot. Genuine repentance brings life and brings sorrow at offending a Holy God; worldly sorrow only is interested in consequences of our actions; and in Judas' case he only recognized Christ as having "innocent blood"; not as God's Son to be worshipped.

    John 5:24. actually says exactly that along with a accumulation of scripture when discerning them properly.

    Here's John 5:24. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; BUT IS PASSED FROM DEATH UNTO LIFE".

    Also see John 11:25-26.

    There's physical death and there is spiritual death.

    Everyone will die the physical death, ( Once.) Hebrews 9:27. Jesus took care of the Spitual death on the cross.

    Those who haven't trusted Christ is ALREADY SPIRITUALLY DEAD! There is no sequence to this. You see it in Jude 1:12 "These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, TWICE DEAD, plucked up by the roots;

    Revelation 20:13-14. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

    And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. THIS IS THE SECOND DEATH.

    This concept is spreaded broadly throughout scripture when interpreted right.

    Romans 6:3-11.

    Ephesians 2:1-9. And you HATH HE QUICKENED, who were dead in trespasses and sins: He gave life!

    This is there present condition.

    He didn't say "You whom he WILL quicken!"

    If we don't have eternal life now, we don't have nothing to apply our faith to.

    However here's my answer, atleast the short of it.

    As for the People in the OT, they were saved by the same way those in the NT are saved. They were righteous by the requirements given at that time that pointed to the Cross.

    Everything anyone did or do, whether Johns baptism or the disciples baptism "whether before or after" Pointed to one who was coming or came. And that is Christ!

    As for them being clean before Pentecost.

    John 15:3-4 tells us how the disciples were clean. "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

    Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

    Christ was with them when he went to the Father he said he would send them ANOTHER Comforter. Even before Christ was risen the Lord spirit has always been active in revealing truth and saving souls.

    Matthew 16:17 is an example.

    They had the Chief Shepherd with them, When he was smitten they scattered!

    For the same reason the disciples didn't fast like John's disciples.

    Mark 2:18-20.

    As for the example sequence you laid out.

    Quoting you;

    Lets assume your are right about people in Samaria. So how about the apostles? Weren't they born again before Pentecost? But Jesus called them clean during the last supper i.e. in John 13:10.

    When Peter preached to the Jews on Pentecost he said at the end, Acts 2:38, "..., Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.". Shall I assume that Peter said to people to just have a knowledge about Christ then get water baptised and then get born again? Hard to believe. I don't think there is any christian church of any denomination that teaches such a sequence of salvation.

    Question. What is baptism? In Colossians 2:12 says "Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.".

    Also in Romans 6:3-7, "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: ..."

    So the baptism among other is symbolic for the burial of our old sinful man and the subsequent erection of the new man. But we bury something that is dead not alive. Baptism has to come after the death of the old man, not before.

    Lets go to that incident that Paul met those disciples in Ephessus.( Acts 18:1-7). He asks them if they received the Spirit after they believed? Strange question, isn't it? He also asumes that they were water baptised, because he asks tthem in what name they were baptised. (since they told him that they had never heard of the Holly Spirit, he wonders how come they had never heard of it since we are baprised in the name of the Father, the Son and HTE HOLLY SPIRIT). So Paul assumed in the begining that they were also w/baptised.

    God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance according to Romans 2:4. The beginning of this verse asks if we show contempt for the riches of His kindness; forebearance and patience. That meaning could be directed towards those who are nonbelievers; who are "suddenly destroyed without remedy" ( Proverbs 29:1). It also could be talking about those who would use grace as license to sin as we see warned against in Romans 6:1-2.

    I would propose that this also has relevance with today's compromised Gospel which downgrades the fear of the Lord; and our necessary attitude toward repentance. I believe it can be true that someone can be so afraid of say; losing their salvation or thinking God can't possibly forgive them that they have an unhealthy disassociation with their Lord and Savior. The other extreme is probably more prevalent today; however. In those who are given the admonition in Romans 11:22 I would argue that if we are in Christ we will persevere; and that is evidenced by continuing to fear the Lord and that is aided by the continuing presence of the Spirit bringing us to maturity.

    My focus in this post is on those who would want to make the Gospel less offensive. What seems like intuitive knowledge on a human level is paradoxical on the spiritual-God's love is only magnified when the rest of His Word describing His wrath is presented. To "flee from the wrath to come" ( Luke 3:7) certainly is relevant today; for judgment ultimately but the Tribulation as well. The seriousness of sin seems to be disregarded with today's messages; I would propose that we should make people uncomfortable when they are in the House of God rather than comfortable if that means dumbing down the truth. If we show a half hearted faith it is no wonder there is so much lukewarmness in the church today. Matthew 12:34 states out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speakest. May our hearts be sold out to Christ; not with one foot still in the world.

    Matthew 24:21 For then shall be GREAT TRIBULATION such as was not since the beginning of the world to THIS TIME (of the great tribulation), no, nor shall ever be (but this one time).

    Matthew 24:22 And except those days (of the great tribulation) BE SHORTENED; there should no flesh be SAVED; but for the elects sake those days (of the great tribulation) SHALL BE SHORTENED.

    According to God's word NO FLESH can BE SAVED until after the GREAT TRIBULATION.

    Are you saved NOW?

    Yes, you were saved by the RESURRECTION.

    Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ ....

    Romans 6:6 Knowing this, our old man is crucified with him .....

    Romans 6:5 ...we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.....

    Colossians 3:1 If ye be then risen with Christ .......

    Luke 20:36 ...being the children of the resurrection .....

    The wrath of God; that GREAT TRIBULATION, was poured out on Christ, the Great tribulation was SHORTENED to 3 days, for the elects sake.

    Romans 6:4 - Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

    Hi Natasha St John! If you read in Revelation 7:4-8 It explains that the 144,000 are out of the 12 tribes of Israel. As we read on starting with verse 9 we see that the nations that make up the rest of the world, that have their garments washed white in the blood of the Lamb, are a multitude that no man could number. So the 144,000 are only those that God has sealed, out of the 12 tribes of Israel. Now we know because God's Word is truth and there is a thread in the bible. Isaiah 64:6 says that all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. In Matthew 7:21-23 says that God will say depart from me ye workers of iniquity. Also in

    1 Corinthians 6:9-11 it says, Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. And in Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. So by fallowing the thread of the Bible we can clearly see that the 144,000 are only out of the 12 tribes of Israel, they are washed in the blood of the Lamb and sealed by God. The rest of the world is the multitude that no man can number and is also washed in the blood of Christ Jesus.

    The wages of sin is death.

    Romans 6:23.

    There's no remission of sins without the shedding of blood.

    Hebrews 9:22.

    Jesus took our sins upon himself and cleansed and sanctified us.

    Hebrews 13:12.

    Christ died the sacrificial death for the whole world.

    John 1:29.

    John 3:15-17.

    That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

    For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

    He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

    being saved and being born again are two completely different things.

    I'll be praying for you brother and we both can stand in agreement with each other's prayers. We have to learn how to make correct decisions and anytime we choose not to use no matter how strong the urge is,we have to remember that God's holy spirit is stronger. I know it's easier said than done for some of us. I heard a pastor say stop trying and start training. We need retrained. Romans 6:12 Do not let sin control the way you live, do not give in to sinful desires. We don't have to give in to temptations and we need to let God's holy spirit train us in this way. Maybe God pour out His holy spirit on you brother.

    The manmade doctrine of 100% everyone being "saved" is not only a serious misinterpretation of what the Bible says, but is a lie originating from satan himself. Satan wants people to deceived into believing this so they don't feel they need to obey God whatsoever. It's wrapped up in clever fallacies and false assumptions. All someone has to do to refute this manmade idea is to read the Bible. I'd rather listen to Jesus then a man. Both aren't right, so by definition one of these beliefs is untrue. Is it true that obeying God is "bad"? Is it likely that God wants you to defy him and do the opposite of what He says, or is it more likely that satan wants that? This sounds exactly like what satan would say.

    Those twisting scripture to conform to a narrow cult manmade idea who accuse obedience to God as being "bad" would also be accusing Jesus of the same thing. John 14:15. Satan's signature is usually on pushing opposites of the truth, starting from the garden of eden.

    Satan is clever and whenever I see his lies on a Bible site I will keep calling it out so no one else is deceived. Again, the antidote to this poison is actually reading the Bible, because it says so many times that following the law is GOOD. Obedience is GOOD. Following God is GOOD. Romans 6:15 Someone who claims to have freedom to commit any sin imaginable while having a free get out of hell card is exactly what Jesus warned about when He said depart from me. Matthew 7:22-23.

    The false assumption and contradiction in the cult doctrine is that everything good is "works" and it's all "bad" meanwhile they don't call sinning as "bad" or "works". So, the assumption is doing any good is bad, and bad is good. Wow.

    Alex I think its possible we've already discussed this topic before and your motives are between you and God. He knows your heart and whether you are following Him and believing in the truth. You will have to stand in front of Him like everyone else and account for every word you speak. God be with you.

    I'm sorry if my response did not answer your question. Please allow a second shot at it.

    You asked two questions. First question was if 1 Corinthians 1:18 means that we wear gold crosses around our necks?

    My answer to that would be no.

    Your second question: does 1 Corinthians 1:18 mean that we go to the tattoo parlor and ask for a cross to be etched/cut into our skin.

    My answer to that would also be no. I gave you my understanding of what that verse means.

    Again, your question is "Are we supposed to wear crosses on our necks?"

    I do not know of any scripture that forbids it. There is scripture that speaks against idols and worship of idols. I suppose if a person does not worship or idolize a piece of jewelry or any other material possessions, that person would be okay.

    Also, Luke 14:27 does not address your question. "Whosoever does not bear his cross" doesn't mean whosoever does not wear a cross around his neck.

    What does it mean to bear ones cross?

    Here in our culture, basically people understand it to mean whatever hardships I have to go through today, I'm just bearing my cross for Jesus. Except that whether you are a Christian or not, you are going to go through difficulties. It is not what it means.

    When Jesus died on the cross, He died my death.In reference, you can read Romans 6:1-14, and Galatians 2:20.

    What does it mean to take up your cross?

    You see, when I received the life of Jesus Christ, I also received His death. That's why Paul can say in Philippians, "Oh that I might know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings."

    Power to live and power to suffer go hand in hand. But they are not my sufferings. They are the sufferings of Christ. But when He died on the cross, He died my death. He died in my place therefore I have died. But my biggest struggle in life is that every day, my flesh is trying to get down off that cross.

    Leviticus Chapter 20-Penalties for Disobedience

    Verse 7-8"Consecrate yourselves, therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD, Your God. And you shall keep my statutes and perform. I am the LOTD who sanctifies you."

    This chapter refers back to the commands of Chapters 18-19, listing all the sins that are deserving of capital punishment (death). At times, God will is the one who executes the penalty by causing the death of the offenders, but in this chapter, God is instructing the Israelites to perform the penalty upon those who commit the sins spoken of in this chapter.

    How hard it would be to put your child to death for disobedience to a parent! But God commanded them to do so and to not do it would be a sin as well.

    So, it seems that all of the sins spoken of in this Chapter require a penalty of death. These sins would be considered to be capital crimes. Pretty sobering to consider.

    I read that Capital crimes reflect a given value system. That is, acts that are called capital crimes are those which are considered most evil, and thus reflect the value system of the one (or ones) making the laws. Since capital punishment is the most serious penalty, then these crimes are viewed as those acts which are the worst evil.

    Capital crimes in Leviticus 20 reflect God's value system. If we are troubled by what God has condemned as worthy of death, then we must recognize that our value system must be "out of sync" with God's. What then are God's values which are the basis for His choice of "capital crimes" (sins deserving the death penalty).

    Well, actually, God views every sin as capital offense worthy of death. When Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit does that seem to us to be such a heinous crime that it brought about not just the death of Adam and Eve, but for all of their offspring.

    Romans 6:23 "The wages of sin is death." Do we truly believe this? Do we concur with God that each and every sin brings the penalty of death to the sinner?

    Hi Guy.

    In John 1:29 John sees Jesus and says "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

    And then in John 1:33 John says Jesus "is he which shall baptize with the Holy Ghost.

    BAPTISM MEANS TO IDENTIFY WITH or IDENTIFICATION.

    John's baptism was to Identify the Jews with the coming covenant which would be brought in by Christ death. see Hebrews 9:15-17.

    Jesus baptism was Identifying with us. see Romans 6:3-6.

    Jesus was baptized because He was taking our place. This reveals His perfect identification with us; He took the place of the sinners.

    The account in Matthew 3:15 Jesus says it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness"

    He was made "sin for us, who knew no sin" ( 2 Corinthians 5:21). I think the explanation is found in that. He's identifying Himself with the human family in the baptism.

    Leviticus Chapter 15 continued

    No, we enter heaven with a resurrection body that us our earthly body purified, changed to be incorruptible and immortal, freed from the sinful nature, and completely restored to the perfection of Adam and Eve before the fall.

    This chapter reminds me that we all needed to be cleansed by the washing of the word and the blood of Jesus to be acceptable in the sight of the Father. We should not want to bring our filthy bodies, soiled clothing, nor stained handiwork to present ourselves before God. The bathing in this chapter reminds me of the cleansing power of the Word, the washing of the clothing reminds me of the white raiment of Christ's righteousness we are clothed with, and the cleansing of any of our handiwork reminds of doing every work unto the glory of God.

    The Israelites were instructed how to be cleansed in such a way to stand in the tabernacle before God. The idea of being unclean until evening (which is the beginning of the new day for the Israelites) reminds me that whenever we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from sin, thus starting anew just as the Israelites could start their new day clean before God having completed the requirements of this chapter. Behold, I make all things new! ( Revelation 21:5)

    "even so let us walk in the newness of life" ( Romans 6:5) just as Jesus was raised to life from the dead.
