It's best to understand the Holy Spirit (& Jesus) as living parts or emanations from the One God. Just as Jesus, before His incarnation (i.e. coming to Earth in human form) was the Word of God ( John 1:1-14), so to the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God sent out to accomplish God's Will. Neither the Word of God (Jesus) nor the Holy Spirit are ever independent of God - all are equally One & eternally One - God wouldn't be Who He is without the Word & the Holy Spirit.
But when we read in the Bible of the Holy Spirit's Attributes & Work, we are actually seeing God manifesting Himself in the out-working of His Spirit. If you look up the following Scriptures, you can see God the Spirit manifested in a few ways:
a. He is intelligent ( 1 Corinthians 2:10,11)
b. He has feelings ( Ephesians 4:30)
c. He has a will ( 1 Corinthians 12:11)
d. He teaches ( John 14:26)
e. He guides ( John 16:13; Romans 8:14)
f. He commissions ( Acts 13:4)
g. He commands ( Acts 8:29)
h. He contends ( Genesis 6:3)
i. He intercedes ( Romans 8:26)
So, the Holy Spirit is not simply a force or a power of God, as some want to believe. He is God Himself because He goes about His Work as God desires (i.e. as if God was on Earth doing it). Nothing the Spirit does is contrary or independent of God, just as Jesus on Earth, perfectly fulfilled God's Will through His Words, His Life, His Work, & His Death (you can read Jesus' wonderful prayer to His Father in this respect). I hope that has been a little helpful. May the Spirit (the Living God) help you as you meditate on these things from the Word.
God is SPIRIT, spirit can not be seen.
God (Spirit) wanted children (sons and daughters) of God; but he wanted them to have a BODY.
God spoke Christ (the Body) into existence. All the FULLNESS of SPIRIT (the Father) dwells in the SON (BODY of CHRIST).
Revelation 3:14 An unto the angel (Christ, the messenger of the Father) of the Church .....these things say the Amen, the faithful and true witness (of the Father), the BEGINNING OF THE CREATION OF GOD(SPIRIT).
We can not even begin to fully understand the GLORY the SON has had with the Father since the BEGINNING.
The word of God tell us that through the works of the CROSS, Christ is going to give us this SAME GLORY that he shares with our Father.
When we come to this TRUTH, we are ready to be present with the Lord and absent this body.
But; our Father CAUSES us to continue SUFFERING IN THE FLESH, until our appointed time to depart this flesh.
Then this happens:
1 Corinthians 15:54 DEATH is swallowed up in VICTORY.
We are then GIVEN the BODY of CHRIST and the FULLNESS of SPIRIT (GOD).
John 17:21 And the GLORY that thou hast GIVEN me, I have GIVEN THEM; that they may be ONE as we are ONE.
Hebrews 12:2
James 1:2-4
John 14:2
Revelations 21:4
1 Corinthians 6:3
Hopefully it's helpful & encouraging.
with the glory that shall be revealed?
Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY and ONE SPIRIT .....
Christ, (which is, and which was, and which is to come Revelation 1:8); IS, the ONLY ONE BODY. The VESSEL of the ONLY ONE SPIRIT. We (the firstfruits of SPIRIT)( 1 Corinthians 15:23)( Romans 8:23) become the BODY OF CHRIST ( 1 Timothy 6:16)( 1 Corinthians 15:52-55).
The SPIRIT (the source of POWER) provides ALL, the BODY does all the LABOUR. Christ has everything needed at his disposal at all times; but the SPIRIT ONLY releases it (the power)to THE BODY at the given moment it is required. I am not saying that Christ IS NOT GOD, because HE IS; it takes both (faith and labour)( James 2:17) to be GOD, SPIRIT (the SOURCE) and THE BODY (the LABOUR).
Everything is done by SPIRIT (the WORKS of the FATHER) THROUGH (the labour) of the SON.
Christ emptied HIMSELF of the Father's glory ( John 17:5) that he had with him since the beginning, and became sinful flesh, to be destroyed.
He does't know in advance the second coming, because he is given what is required, as it is required ( John 5:19)( John 5:30), just as we are ( John 15:5). We are being created like him A VESSEL OF THE SPIRIT ( Revelation 10:11).
1 Corinthians 15:28 When ALL THINGS shall be SUBJECTED to him, then shall the Son ALSO HIMSELF be SUBJECT to him (the source of power) that put all things under him that GOD (Spirit, Truth, Life) may be ALL IN ALL.
Hebrews 2:8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put ALL in subjection under him, he left nothing that IS NOT PUT under him, But we see NOT YET (but we will see; at the resurrection of the dead) ALL THINGS put under him.
Obadiah 1:21 And SAVIOURS ( John 17:21) shall come upon mount Zion to JUDGE the mount of Esau (the world); and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.
Isaiah 26:9 ....when thy judgements are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world WILL LEARN RIGHTEOUSNESS.
Romans 8:14: "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God". Often we read this verse as given, but I like to also read it backwards: 'if you're a child of God, then you WILL be led by the Spirit of God'. A similar rendering, but the emphasis being on 'being led'. We could add, 'where the Holy Spirit wants to go, we will go as well - what He wants to do, we will do as well'. His indwelling us is more than an earthly temple to dwell in, but to get the Work of God accomplished through us. But it's a sad day when we resist Him. Every blessing brother.
Acts 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
Matthew 22:41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
Matthew 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the SON of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which IS in heaven. (IS means present time)
44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
You are correct; when God purposes something, it's good as done.
1 Timothy 2:4 Who WILL HAVE (God's WILL; will be done)( Matthew 6:10) ALL MEN TO BE SAVED, and come to the KNOWLEDGE OF TRUTH.
1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labour (in the WORKS OF GOD; not our work)( Colossians 1:29) and suffer reproach, because we trust ( Ezekiel 36:27) in the living God, who is the SAVIOUR OF ALL MEN, specially those who believe ( Philippians 1:29)
1 Timothy 4:11 There things COMMAND and TEACH.
God IS NOT searching for those who want to SERVE HIM; because if it were up to flesh, NO ONE would serve him. He has already CHOSEN US ( Ephesians 1:11); he is BRINGING US TO THAT TRUTH ( Ezekiel 36:27).
Flesh WILL NOT serve GOD; it is enmity to SPIRIT ( Romans 8:7) .
God has CHOSEN (through casting the die; if you will)( Ezekiel 20:37) a select FEW to be KINGS and PRIEST ( Revelation 5:10) with HIM in his kingdom.
Those, CHOSEN TO BECOME the IMAGE of GOD ( Romans 8:29)( Ephesians 4:24), will become judges with Christ' at the resurrection of the dead, back to their flesh ( 1 Corinthians 6:2)( Revelation 2:26-27). They (the dead) will be THEN brought to TRUTH.
Isaiah 29:9 For when thy judgements are in the earth, the inhabitants WILL LEARN RIGHTEOUSNESS.
None of this is a reproof to you, my brother in Christ, I am just ADDING to your comments.

Positive thinking was started by Phineas Quimby who hypnotized people. He believed that the body was a reflection of the mind and all illnesses were a result of false beliefs. He had conversations with Mary Baker Eddy (Christian Science founder) and influenced her to believe that 'right thinking' in accordance with scripture could cure any ailment. I don't think that 'positive thinking' can be aligned with the word of God.
Philippians 4 says 'by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving', not by 'positive thinking'. I believe Matthew 6:34 is in relation to submitting to God and trusting in Him, something atheists do not do. It was not meant to just say "don't worry about tomorrow" (which would be worldly wisdom) but "trust in the Lord" which is Godly wisdom. I would argue that psychology says "trust in yourself" and the bible says "deny yourself", two viewpoints which are incompatible.
I would say counseling is good as long as it is biblical. Shouldn't everything center around the Lord and His word? If you talk to a counselor and they do not point you to the bible and Godly wisdom, the only other option is they are pointing you towards worldly wisdom. The bible says we have a heart issue, not a mental issue. Jeremiah 17:9-10.
1 Corinthians 1:18-25. Acts 17:10-12. I think everything needs to be tested against scripture.
Thanks for the discussion Adam, I appreciate you.
Most people are taught by the traditions of man, very few study themselves and let the Spirit reveal the truth to them.
Romans 8:20 For the CREATURE (CREATION) was made SUBJECT TO VANITY (evil), not WILLINGLY, but by REASON of him who hath SUBJECTED the same (creation) in HOPE. (Becoming ONE with their CREATOR).
Ponder on the tree of KNOWLEDGE of good and evil.
That knowledge exist TOGETHER, you can't have the KNOWLEDGE of good without also having the KNOWLEDGE of evil.
After partaking of this KNOWLEDGE of good and evil, God said, behold they (creation) have become like one of us to KNOW good and evil.
This KNOWLEDGE is necessary to become LIKE GOD.
John 17:21 That they (creation) ALL may BE ONE; as thou Father, art ONE IN ME, and I IN THEE, that thou also may be ONE IN US: that the world MAY BELIEVE that thou has SENT ME.
Colossians 1:27 ... this mystery....CHRIST IN YOU.....
Revelation 4:5 And out of the throne (you are the throne of CHRIST)( Revelation 20:4) proceeded lighting, and thunder and voices: BURNING ( Isaiah 4:4) before the throne (you are the throne of CHRIST)( Revelation 20:4), which (lighting, thunder, voices) ARE the SEVEN Spirits of God (now in you).
Isaiah 11:2 And the (first is the) SPIRIT of the LORD (Father) shall rest upon him (Christ (in you)), the (second) spirit of WISDOM, and (the third spirit of) UNDERSTANDING, the (forth) spirit of COUNSEL and (the fifth spirit of) MIGHT, the (sixth) spirit of KNOWLEDGE and (the seventh spirit) of the FEAR of the Lord.
When we no longer have to SUFFER IN THE FLESH we will BE ONE WITH THE FATHER AND SON.
The Law was given only to Israel & coupled with sacrifices, were to point them to God's Mercy upon them. At Jesus' crucifixion, the Law which only brought condemnation & death was annulled, as Christ ushered in the New Covenant in His Blood. Hebrews 7:7-13, where the old has gone & the new has come in, where the Law is now written in their hearts & minds ( Jeremiah 31:31-34). And Paul takes this up in Romans 8:1-4: "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." The Decalogue could never give this ability & freedom to fully obey God in all respects.
Therefore, I don't believe that the apostles or the Church were instructed to obey the Ten Commandments, that which was given under the Old Covenant & only brought death. Under the New Covenant, the indwelling Spirit instructs us to all of God's requirements for us & enables us to be alert to them & keep them.
And finally to your other point, those who say they have faith & continue to "live in worldly sin" are fooling themselves with spurious faith - none with the Holy Spirit can live that way, bringing shame to our Lord. Blessings.
God Knows And Searches our hearts ( Acts 15:8; Romans 8:27), And His Spirit "Prays For us," Even when we "don't know what to pray for!" ( Romans 8:26):
God's GRACE In our infirmities:
(1) Read Romans 5:1-5, especially take note of verse 3, "we glory [rejoice] in tribulations." We are not instructed here to glory in spite of the trials of life we find ourselves in, but we are to rejoice because of them. That is to say we are to thank God for allowing times of suffering into our life. This passage of Scripture expressly states that The Lord uses the tribulations of life "to conform us to The Image Of His Son" ( Romans 8:29). To this end, He uses all things "to work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called According To His Purpose" ( Romans 8:28). As we grow mature in The Lord, our Savior is Glorified. As believers in Jesus Christ it is given us "in behalf of Christ, not only to believe on Him, but also to suffer for His Sake" ( Philippians 1:29). (Borrowed from brother Ed Bedore) My study:

Therefore, cleaving to the Cross & cleaving to the Law simply cannot work. The Law will always condemn us & we will fail from God's Grace. And the vice versa is true: God's Grace & the keeping of the Law negates salvation through faith. Romans 8:1-5. There is a Law after the flesh & there is a Law after the Spirit. I believe that whenever we read of believers obeying God's Laws in the NT, it can never refer to the Letter that kills, but to the Laws imputed in our hearts by the Spirit. And His Laws are far greater in volume & personal application than what any Law given to Israel could ever do. If I restrict my obedience to the Decalogue, then I'm subject to it & I remain in my sins without hope of salvation. Every blessing brother.

Our obedience & faith-generating works are manifest by the indwelling, out-working Holy Spirit. Romans 8:1; Galatians 5:16, 25.
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the CARNAL mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the FLESH cannot please God.

Hebrews 11:6 (View whole chapter)
But without faith it is impossible to PLEASE him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Mishael: the 11th Chapter of Hebrews is known as "THE BOOK OF HEROES OF FAITH".
We all walk by faith and not by sight.
And God tests us in little things first. Tithing is a total work of faith. On Christmas Eve, I and my son were sitting at a traffic light. We saw an old man cross in front of us; head down in the freezing rain. All the money I had was 20 dollars for Christmas dinner. I asked my 8 yr old son if we should, and he shouted YES. I jumped out and gave the old man a hug and said Blessed Christmas and gave him the 20. We both thought upon him the next day. He was our Christmas blessing! Friends called and said to come over and eat with their family.
It doesn't take great faith. Just simple obedience to the Holy Spirit; who IS God. He never asks us to do impossible feats of faith: just ordinary things.
What will we do if the Holy Spirit taps us on the shoulder and asks us for a small act of faith?
The right answer to your question of what pleases God, is to be a person of faith. Like Jesus.

Heavenly GRACE/Mystery fellowship, today? ( 2 Timothy 2:15; Romans 16:25; Ephesians 1:3-9; Ephesians 3:9)
I can't believe that I'm sharing this s testimony today. I was just a silent reader of this page and it is where I searched for encouragement during my review. For a non-native English speaker like me, IELTS exam is really a challenging one. especially because I'm working and at the same time reviewing. During those times, I tried to do everything on my own. I forgot to pray and I completely immersed myself in my review. Finally, when I decided to take the exam last Septemeber 4, 2021, I asked my supervisor if I can take a 1 week leave just to finalize everything before the big day. Unfortunately, He just approved 4 days for me to sort everything out and get done with my exam. So I began to pray to God. I said," God, if it's your will, then may your will be done and not mine." I was reminded by the promise of Romans 8:28 that God works for our good "in all things" is reassuring. It means that no matter the circumstance, there are only two qualifiers for God to be working all things together for our good. ... Those who love God are called according to His purpose. So I hold on to this promise.
The moment that I surrendered my exam to God, I felt peace in my heart. a peace that is so satisfying that I completely feel that whatever the results of my exam, God will work it for my good. on the actual exam, I wasn't nervous, in fact, I listened to music before the exam started. I was so calm and I just kept saying Lord, Your will be done. you know the desires of my heart but may your will be done. After the exam, I was a bit unsure if I'm gonna pass because It was really a challenging one and I didn't expect that I'll pass. but then when I received my results after 4 days, I can't believe my eyes! my scores are more than what I expected to get. and that God truly kept His promise. I will be forever grateful to the God that I served. Even if it is impossible with man, but in God everything is possible. To God be the glory and Honor.
" We are more than conquerors through him that loved us. "
Romans 8:37
In days of unrest and and strong racial feeling , we need above all a new discovery and living experience of the love of God. Let us anchor our hope in the thought that "God is Love." God's power by which He rules and guides the world is the power of an undying, persistent love. He works through the hearts,

Great question, We have the verse you mentioned.
God
1 Peter 1:21. Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
Holyspirit.
Romans 8:11. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Jesus.
John 10:17-18. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
God bless.
Thus, the Armour of God ( Ephesians 6:13) given to us by the Spirit is not only for our daily spiritual battles but for the most severe of battles, so that we can always be confident & strong in the Lord against all odds: not only to "withstand in the evil day, but having done all, to stand". If all who claim to be Christians are so accepted, then we do great disservice to God's Word which reminds us in Romans 8:9: "if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." Therefore, if the Spirit is resident, He won't leave rather will strengthen the believers' resolve to stand against all of the enemy's attacks, whether from doubts, fears, considering other philosophies, or the pull of the world. This then becomes a very personal question & one for introspection: how have I handled such 'attacks' by the evil one? Was it just a passing temptation that I was able to deal with, with the Spirit's Presence & Power, or did I start to succumb & give in? Resisting anything not of the Lord is not just the joy of the 'super-spiritual, super-strong believer', but of all who have the Holy Spirit indwelling. It's the Spirit's Work in the believer to always make us aware of the nature of the battle & the Divine Resistance that we have against that evil. Victory is our goal & the Spirit is given to us to ensure that. We might falter in getting there, but getting there we must. Those without the Spirit, offer no resistance to the evil. Every blessing Jesse.
Amen, Precious brother Luke. Here is a little more of the "Gorgeous" All Others:
God's GRACE In our infirmities
(2) After Paul [our #"pattern"# for Today!] prayed 3 times for his affliction, the "Answer he Received," According To The Scriptures, Was:
"And HE [CHRIST] Said Unto me, MY GRACE Is Sufficient For thee: For MY Strength Is Made Perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory [cp] in my infirmities, that The Power Of CHRIST May Rest Upon me!" ( 2 Corinthians 12:9) cp ( 2 Corinthians 11:23-30)
(3) Compare With GRACE Scriptures: ( Romans 5:1-5) ( Romans 8:18) ( Romans 8:26-29) ( 1 Corinthians 10:13) ( 2 Corinthians 1:3-4) ( 2 Corinthians 4:17) ( 2 Corinthians 12:9) ( Philippians 3:21)
#"pattern"# = Paul = ( 1 Timothy 1:16) ( Philippians 4:9)
