I can only assume from your post that you have received Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Savior. If that is the case, then you have been baptized with God's Spirit. The baptism you are speaking of is water baptism. That does not save you. Being baptized by the Holy Spirit happens the moment you receive Christ. That is His ministry.
In Mark 1:8, John says I indeed have baptized you with water: but He (Jesus) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit.
This is one of the great verses in the bible. John is saying all I do is baptize with water. That is it. That is a tool. I have a message, but I don't baptize with the Holy Spirit, He does, the Messiah does!
Let me share with you this important information about the Lord's ministry:
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is the Lord's ministry. That is what He does. It is not an afterthought. And it's not somewhere down the road. When you are touched by, and saved by the Spirit of God, you are baptized in the Holy Spirit.
That is a Jewish term. So we have to understand it from a Jewish standpoint.
Paul himself said in first Corinthians Chapter 12 Verse 13, "For by one spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free, and have been all made to drink into one Spirit"
When you are baptized by the Holy Spirit, you are brought into the body of Christ. You are saved! When a person gets baptized in the Spirit, it represents the fact that the coming of God's Spirit into their spirit has cleansed them. You are clean. In your spirit, you are perfectly clean, because that's where Jesus dwells!
Water baptism can take place later on down the line. It does not impact your salvation at all. If you've received Christ, He has already baptized you with the baptism that has saved you!
As far as bible study, you can do that at home until places of worship and fellowship open back up.
Let's say satan impregnated Eve, don't you think satan would have chastised Jesus for eternity for being born of the devil? We would have heard much more about it, but we don't. Jesus would not have been able to overcome the grave without being of God.
That's not all 2 Peter 3:8 says, watch closely, let's pick up around vs 3 thru vs 9. and get the context.
2 Peter 3:3-4, 8-9 (KJV) Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation...5.....6......
8: But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord "AS" a thousand years, AND A THOUSAND YEARS "AS" ONE DAY...
Now if the first part of vs 8 makes a day an 1000 years, "very long" Then the other half of vs 8 makes a 1000 years an DAY! "very short" so calculating time using this vs would make a day fractions of a second!!
The setting here is God stands outside of time looking in.
The emphasis is on God's patience, not the length of a day.
Look below at verse 9
9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is LONGSUFFERING to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. I Hope that helps
Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7
Isaiah 6:8
Romans 1:20
Colossians 2:9
Acts 17:27-30
1 John 5:7
John 10:30
These are scriptures of when the 3 persons of the Godhead were speaking to each other.
I was taught that Adams name means, Man. Eve's name means, Man with a womb.
Adam and Eve were of flesh, soul and spirit up until they ate of tree. Then the spiritual connection was severed.
By being Born Again, Jesus restores that spiritual connection through the Holy Spirit who indwells us.
Gen. 1:27 - So God created man in His own image...
6th day Man - (Hb.) adam (no article) = mankind
'eth-Ha' adam (WITH article) is the Adam, and then Eve, who God created on the 8th day, in which Christ, bellybutton to bellybutton comes from.
Also remember that 1 day of our Father is equal to 1,000 years for us (man). 2 Peter 3:8
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Thank you for that very kind, personal , and accurate reply. May the Lord Bless you while we complete our journey, for our Father, abiding in these mortal bodies. Peace be upon you!!
I read your post and I just want to say Amen! And thank you for using 1 Corinthians 14:22. I believe that to be the only verse in the bible that specifically tells us what tongues are for. And I also believe that the only place we see its proper use is in Acts Chapter 2.
They spoke in languages (Tongues) unknown to them but known by those who were hearing them speak. Those "tongues" were actual known languages. They had no clue what they were saying. But the ones who heard them understood. What a beautiful picture of God's Spirit in action. Those who heard them speak in tongues knew that they had no way of knowing their native languages, adding more power to what they were hearing had to be from God.
I personally have never spoken in tongues. But if I ever do, I hope it is the same as those in Acts Chapter 2, God's power working through me to witness the gospel message to someone in their language, perfectly, a language I do not know. And like you, I know I have God's Spirit living inside of me. And by knowing that, I find comfort in knowing that I lack nothing.
And when we talk about "gifts," I believe the only gift we are promised is the gift of the Holy Spirit. I believe that is the only gift we are all given. Everything else is just an expression of God's Spirit and His grace!
God Bless!!!
John also states in John 10:27-29, "My sheep hear my voice and I know them; and they follow me. And I give to them eternal life; and they will never perish forever and not anyone will seize them from out of my hand. My Father who has given them to me is greater than all, and no one is able to seize them from out of the hand of my Father."
Jude states in his doxology in verse 24, "But to the one being able to keep you without stumbling and to set you before His glory blameless in exultation."
Paul in his writings emphasized the keeping power of God's Spirit in Ephesians 1:13-14: "In whom also after having heard the Word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also, after having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance, for redemption of the possession, for the praise of His glory."
He states again in Ephesians 4:30, "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption." Probably one of the most powerful Scriptures of God's keeping power is Romans 8:38-39: "For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor powers, nor any thing which has come, nor things coming, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
The only way a person can be saved is by a spiritual birth from God; and the only way a person can keep his salvation is through the keeping power of God.
Many scriptures were written to show believers that some among them, who professed to be Christians, were actually not saved. John wrote I John so those who were saved would know that they have eternal life ( 1 John 5:13). In this letter, he listed many evidences, so that salvation could be proven among genuine believers.
In the early Church, the requirement for salvation was the presence of God's Spirit dwelling within a person. Paul instructed, in Romans 8:9, "Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this one is not of Him." In Romans 8:14, he wrote, "For as many as are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God."
And again, in Romans 8:16, he instructs that "The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God." Also, in 2 Corinthians 13:5, Paul challenged the church at Corinth: "Examine yourselves, if you are in the faith; prove your own selves, or do you not know your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, except you are reprobates?"
John, writing in 1 John 3:24 supported this same understanding: "And in this we know that He abides in us, from the Spirit whom He has given to us."
He repeats this same truth, although worded somewhat differently, in 1 John 4:13, "In this we know that we dwell in Him, and He in us, because He has given to us of His Spirit."
From the preceding scriptures, we see that salvation happens only when God's Spirit enters and remains in a person's spirit, thereby causing spiritual birth. Nothing in the Bible teaches that salvation is accomplished by the repetition of the Sinner's Prayer or through the performance of any other kind of human formula.
In addition to teaching that God is the sole source of salvation, the Bible also teaches that every saved person is kept by the power of God. Peter writes, in 1 Peter 1:5, that believers are, "The ones who are being kept in the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
Paul writes on the same subject, in Galatians 5:17, "For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are opposing to one another; in order that you should not do what you want."
I think I understand you but Jesus prayed not my will but thine be done.
Cain, in God's Word, is the first murderer, in His Word.
If your Bible has center of the page references to other relevant scriptures, I read all of those too. Those open up the total picture of Bible people.
There's hundreds of Geneology charts on Google you can look at. Pick the ones that agree with scripture. Prove validity always.

Succoth appears to be given to the tribe of Gad.
"And Moses gave inheritance unto the tribe of GAD, even unto the children of GAD according to their families. And their coast was Jazer, and all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the children of Ammon, unto Aroer that is before Rabbah; And from Heshbon unto Ramathmizpeh, and Betonim; and from Mahanaim unto the border of Debir; And in the valley, Betharam, and Bethnimrah, and SUCCOTH, and Zaphon, the rest of the kingdom of Sihon king of Heshbon, Jordan and his border, even unto the edge of the sea of Chinnereth on the other side Jordan eastward. This is the inheritance of the children of GAD after their families, the cities, and their villages." Jos 13:24-28
Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the RIGHT HAND OF GOD, who also maketh intercession for us.
Romans 8:27
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Folks, this is the Godhead. Jesus did not let Mary Magdalene touch him, because he had not yet ascended to heaven to assume the position of High Priest.
He is in heaven where the 2 scriptures say what He is doing. When this age closes, the Father will tell the Bridegroom to go get His Bride.
The Holy Spirit is on earth now performing His ministry. Jesus went to the Cross to give believers the Holy Spirit who indwells each believer with the spirit of Christ.
He comforts, teaches, baptizes, SPEAKS, strives with sinners, creates, renews, convicts, anoints, guides, empowers, sanctifies, gives gifts, illuminates, reveals, truth of God, and much more.
After the catching up of the Church, His ministry will be diminished.
I would say I have a close relationship with Him. I pray, talk with, worship Jesus, read huge chunks of the Bible daily, sit still until He teaches me what I just read, He sharpens my spiritual discernment, corrects me often. I cannot express the inner JOY it is to covet being in His presence! He speaks to me at home, in the car, taking a walk. He gives words of knowledge and words of wisdom.
why?? Because He knows I am smitten with Jesus, and the Father that Jesus wants us to know. I'm going to do or say whatever he tells me.
My most favorite time is in silence, listening intently for Him. I sing-He sings. One time he sang, "I walk the Line" by Johnny Cash!
Get to know Him! He's a real Person who happens to be invisible to our eyes; but visible in the spirit; to hearts and to our spirit inside, ears. Be as close as you desire. Read 10 virgins story. The OIL is the Holy Spirits JOY.
Write these on the inside cover of your Bible. It comes up a lot.

To me, the better question is why wouldn't you want to be baptized? If the Bible says to do something, shouldn't the normal response for a Christian be to follow it? In the event someone is looking to do the least as possible in order to just barely make the cut to go to heaven, is that a wise strategy and what if it backfires? These are the types of questions I would ask instead. God bless...
Book 1: Psalms 1-41
Book 2: Psalms 42-72
Book 3: Psalms 73-89
Book 4: Psalms 90-106
Book 5: Psalms 107-150
It appears that each of these five books ends with a doxology or a praise, either "Praise the Lord!" or "Amen."
