Faith: For he is not a Jew which is one outwardly;neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: but he is a Jew which is one inwardly and circumcision is that of The Heart--- Romans 2:28-29 /--- for they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Romans 9:6

People refer to verses 15-23 to try and excuse themselves of fault for their own sin, but ignore verse 22 where the Lord shows he is long-suffering towards those who are unbelieving and disobedient. Why then is He long-suffering? Because His Word states "Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways for why will ye die, O house of Israel?" -Ezekiel33:11 One of many verses in the Bible proving the Lord rather ALL to be saved. Nevertheless, God's patience and long-suffering towards the lost and unrepentant is not in vain if they do reject Him for He knew who would accept Him or not. If you choose to reject God's better ways for you and continue in your own... know that He has a purpose even for those who hate Him and either way He will be glorified and His will be done as it was with Pharaoh. Blessed be the King of Glory! For who can resist His just and perfect will?

Eccl. 12:12; 12:13- and you find this in God's word (v.13), not in v.12. A 'liberal' education is against God.

In Romans 9-5, Paul states that"Christ is over all". How can that be for God is the potter and we are clay. Christ sought not glory for himself but came to do the bidding of the Father. He exemplifies. How we are to live, which is in the Spirit, for the flesh is as grass, which flowers on day and is chaff the next. I love Jesus for his words were purely from God, and he pleased the Father

Stephende - Paul was directly called by Jesus to preach to the Gentiles. ALthough Paul had compassion for his fellow Isrealites, his mission was aimed at the Gentiles. Paul always followed Divine direction - Jews first, then Gentiles.

If one is going to read the Bible and then 'object' to something in it - God have mercy on their soul
  • Stephende on Romans 9 - 7 years ago
Paul, being the Apostle of the gentile has slanted his arguement in favor of the gentile. For this I object. I believe God has mercy on whom He will, completely, and that Jew or Gentile dose not influence in any way. Neither are pure in God's eyes. I say none are righteous. But God knows the heart. He will have mercy upon the pure of heart. He will have mercy to those with Godly knowledge

Yes our Lord is sovereign in our salvation. His choosing is not based on performance but as we are told in 1 Corinthians He chooses the weak and lowly so that "no flesh can glory in His presence". When we get to heaven we won't be bragging about ourselves but we will be humbly praising and thanking Him for all eternity! We have no bragging rights now or then in heaven!
  • BSP on Romans 9 - 8 years ago
In verse 15 it shows that God has the right to choose who he uses an who he chooses to have mercy on.

God is supreme and does not have to do things according to justice from man's perspective. He does things according to Divine Grace and Plan. His Election is perfect and should not be questioned.May his will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven

Yes, the 144,000 which were sealed from the twelve tribes of Israel will be with Him together with them the shall believe on His name ( from the Gentile age - John 1:10 - 13). We became children of God before we were fleshly born here on earth but by predestination. ( Romans 9:23 - 25 says He shall call us His people who were not His - not in 144,000)

God is not interesting in traditions and ceremonial laws God looketh at the heart that wants to do what is right, walk in the way of the lord and strife every moment to be like jesus .

Romans 9:22, "vessels of wrath, fitted for destruction". Destruction=destroyed for eternity. These people are going to hell.
V.23"vessels of mercy, which he afore prepared unto glory." He predestined the elect for eternal glory in his Kingdom. Amen.
V.28 "The Gentiles were grafted into salvation, though the Jews. Not called "God's people", then God calls them "His people". Children of God.

Exactly what you thought. Nobody can question God. He knew what both of them were capable of doing even their descendants as well.

God loves Jacob Israel and hates Esau Edom, which is the forefather of the Roman Empire. Read the meaning of Esau in Classical baby names and also Genesis 25:25 and down. The vessel made to honor is Jacob Israel and the vessel fitted for destruction is Esau. From 13 down it's talking about Jacob and Esau, but uses Egypt as an example of how he raised Egypt to power and showed his wrath. He also raised Esau to power to show his wrath on Esau.

If is by grace we are saved through faith. The "election of grace" is simply the means that God has established to make salvation available to all through the operation of faith. The only elect and precious one is the Lord Jesus Christ. Faith in his death, burial and resurrection brings us into union with him when we call upon His Name. He that hath the Son hath life. So in Ephesians we read that we are chosen "in Him" - not chosen to be in Him. Many are called to come to Christ Jesus, but only those who are in union with Him by faith are chosen by association. In short, our position in Christ deems us to be chosen and blessed together with Him by grace. To Him belongs all glory, majesty and power - as Paul wrote in v5 of Chpt. 9 "God blessed forever. Amen"

Verse 13 - bretheren beloved of the lord - Now read Romans 9:26. The ones who are "beloved " will be excommunicated from their church!
  • Geoff on Revelation 11 - 9 years ago
It is my conviction that the two witnesses are the first to be "born again ". After three and a half days the spirit of life entered them and they stood upon their feet. In verse 13 it says that 7000 names of men are killed. These are the men to who it was said in Romans 9:26 "you are not my people ". They are the sons of the living God who will also be "born again ". After that they are to bring the 10th part of the city into the storehouse - see Malachi Ch3. The same 10th part of the city that fell. Does the number 7000 fill the requirement in Revelation Chapter 6:11

ROM.chapters 9,10,and 11 are addressed to Israel, and not to the body of Christ. You have to rightly divide the word of God. All scripture is for our learning but not necessarily to us. We are gentiles and under grace, they are Jews and are under the kingdom gospel. God saves Jews today through grace also, but like most people they don't except the apostle Paul's epistols. TOMMY P

Was in Romans 9 this morning and was pondering and meditating over the same scriptures. The Lord impressed on me the same thing - that those things were written although seeming harsh to our carnal mind because he knew how men would turn out, that ultimately they would go away from him. The whole message I believe is really again to emphasise that man turn to God through faith and not works - hence to be a vessel for honour and not dishonour. Praise God!

Verses 10-18 has given me problems understanding. When first read, it appeared God was arbitrarily choosing one person over another to be a follower of righteousness and the other to be the oppressor. Yet, the entire Bible talks of God 's wanting ALL to be followers of His Spirit. My only conclusion at this time is that God knew from the beginning how each person was going to turn out and since He gave man free will, he LET each choose to be either a follower of righteouness or of perdition...with the heart of those choosing a sinful nature being hardened over time by their own choices. Anyone else given thought to this? Can you add some Scripture that might help me better understand?

Romans 9:2:5 is very touching cause Paul genuinely cares for "his " pple, who r also the pple of God. I care for my community alot maybe I too will feel this strongly about it, I pray for them everyday, beleiving that they will ALL come to know Christ be found in Him. The will of Him who sends us is stronger than our will. He wills and works for His good pleasure. It is His good pleasure to give us the Kingdom, and to those who receive Him He gives us the right to become sons of God ... not of bloods, but by His Blood ... not of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of men, but of God. Not him who willeth, not him who runneth ... but by the abundant mercy of God who wills His good pleasure upon whom He chooses.
  • Onyekachi orji on Romans 9 - 10 years ago
God has the final say, lt is not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth but of God that showeth mercy. We cannot question Gods action for we are but a clay in the potters hand.
