Romans 9:13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. 14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

might not know much but this what I understood verse 7-23 is saying that not every body is God children there are those that was promise to the forefathers by Godin their seeds are the chosen ones

This simply means that man has no power of his own to achieve anything or to prevent an event from happening but by God things goes as it goes.

To me Romd9:16 Expkains,in the race of life success,God is the only determing factor, which is a devine secret, though you still have a responsibility to be prepared for it.Apostle Paul,Daniel etc understand by books.

In my limited understanding of Roman 9:16, the Apostle Paul was building on the Words of our Lord Jesus Christ written in John 15:5. Indeed, it is not on our effort that we are successful but the mercy of God working in us.

In my own explanation, Rom.9:16 teaches us that we can do nothing on our own accord except by God's grace. Yes, man has d will power but it's not by man's will that we provoke God to act. It's just by his mercies. In otherwords, all our cares and burdens should be laid at his feet.

This is my response to Beverly's comment dated 9/12/2013 at 10:11pm on Romans Chapter 9 about verse 25):

That's right.. Osee is Hosea because that verse in Romans 9:25 was quoted from Hosea 2:23, "And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God".
  • Beverly on Romans 9:25 - 11 years ago
Is Osee another name for Hosea,or what does the word Osee refer to?
  • Anastacea on Romans 9:28 - 11 years ago
Does this mean He (The Lord) will cut short someone's life?

  • Nisha313 on Romans 9 - 11 years ago
For as it is written without Faith it is impossible to please God. No matter how any situation look, sickness, disease, financial problems, anything. Dont look at your problem just tell Jesus about it and ask Him to strengthen you to get through it. And believe and know in your heart that He hears you and not only will He hear you but is very well able to do that which you asked him to do in FAITH. Just plz know He is the same Forever

The Scripture says what it means. Any attempt to rationalize it is just the flesh rejecting what is plain and simple. God said it I believe it.

It goes to show that we have an unpredictable and kind GOD. It reminds me TD Jakes' "The bad boys, and the GOD who loves them"

If I want to say the truth, the issue of making heaven at the end of our race here on earth is more than by prayer alone, but by forsaking ALL and coming to the throne of mercy, Romans 9:15-18. May you and I be there in Jesus’ name.

First, glory be to God the father of Jesus Christ. These verses state clearly what must not be done, because ROMANS 9:20 confirms the Old Testament.
  • CLIFFORD on Romans 9:16 - 11 years ago
From my own interpretation of what apostle Paul was saying here; success or whatever height one attains in life is not by the effort one makes, but by God’s mercy. It goes to prove that though everyone is created by God, but not everyone is on his mercy list. It also contrasts Solomon’s personal view; in his conclusion in the book of Ecclesiastes 9:11 (talking about time and chance). This implies that man’s willingness or effort without God is baseless.

Elohim does not talk about any nation but the seed of Jacob who the Israelites; only the 12 sons of to whom pertained everything not Esau. Nor Greeks nor the Jews which is no such thing as Jews it was Judah. He said he hated Esau and his descendents. Look up, what is Esau nationality of today and who are the 12 son of Jacob and what is their nationality of today in 2012? The Israelites are the Father’s elect and chosen ones and I am glad I got my identity back. I am Judah a Israelite that’s the word of the Holy Spirit and My Elohim of Love.

We can never be good enough in and of ourselves to make it, but praise the Lord for sending Jesus to take our place and pay a price that we could never pay. That is the real message of this holiday season. Jesus came and died for our sins and was raised from the dead that we might experience newness of life through His victory over sin and death. Look at salvation like a Christmas present handed to every person in the world. It belongs to all, but only those of us who open the present and receive it for ourselves will benefit from what He did for us.
  • Tina on Romans 9:2 - 12 years ago
I think what Paul is saying is that he has great sorrow for the people that are not saved. He has great love for them and does NOT want them to go to hell. He loves them so much and wants them to believe in Christ.

    How Many Are Sealed?
10 Jesus said to those in line for this sealing: “Have no fear, little flock, because your Father has approved of giving you the kingdom.” ( Luke 12:32) Other scriptures, such as Revelation 6:11 and Romans 11:25, indicate that the number of this little flock is indeed limited and, in fact, predetermined. John’s next words confirm this: “And I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel: Out of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand sealed; out of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand; out of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand sealed.”— Revelation 7:4-8.
11 Could this not be a reference to literal, fleshly Israel? No, for Revelation 7:4-8 diverges from the usual tribal listing. ( Numbers 1:17, 47) Obviously, the listing here is not for the purpose of identifying fleshly Jews by their tribes but to show a similar organizational structure for spiritual Israel. This is balanced. There are to be exactly 144,000 members of this new nation—12,000 from each of 12 tribes. No tribe in this Israel of God is exclusively royal or priestly. The whole nation is to rule as kings, and the whole nation is to serve as priests.— Galatians 6:16; Revelation 20:4, 6.
12 Although the natural Jews and Jewish proselytes were given the first opportunity to be chosen for spiritual Israel, only a minority of that nation responded. Jehovah therefore extended the invitation to the Gentiles. ( John 1:10-13; Acts 2:4, 7-11; Romans 11:7) As in the case of the Ephesians, who previously had been “alienated from the state of Israel,” now non-Jews could be sealed with God’s spirit and become part of the congregation of anointed Christians. ( Ephesians 2:11-13; 3:5, 6; Acts 15:14) It is appropriate, then, for the 24 elders to sing before the Lamb: “With your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.”— Revelation 5:9, 10.
13 The Christian congregation is “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.” (1 Peter 2:9) Replacing natural Israel as God’s nation, it becomes a new Israel that is “really ‘Israel.’” ( Romans 9:6-8; Matthew 21:43) For this reason, it was quite proper for Jesus’ half brother James to address his pastoral letter “to the twelve tribes that are scattered about,” that is, to the worldwide congregation of anointed Christians that in time would number 144,000.— James 1:1.

Our Father,Creator of everything that ever was, that is , and that ever will be. Thanks and praises be to you, through our Lord Jesus Christ.Amen!

Chapter9 has a very important message to humanity.

1.We should never declare ourselves righteous before God by justifying our works in the law of righteousness. We all fall short of the Glory of God and we should accept the fact that we are all sinners and should therefore:

    2. Seek to attain righteousness through Faith in God, through Jesus Christ and not through our WORKS in righteousness.

"What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, [nations other than Israel] which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; As it is written, Behold, I lay in Zion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." ( Romans 9:30-33) "For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." ( Romans 10:12-13) The gospel of Jesus Christ is for all people, all nations; the only exclusion comes from unbelief. "Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercies; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him all ye people. And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust." ( Romans 15:8-12) Jesus came to save all. "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to do whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." Amen. ( Matthew 28:19-20)Also, Jesus said, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." ( Mark 16:15-17) The gospel of Jesus Christ (salvation) is for every nation, and is for every person; it is for all. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved,

Don't let anyone make you believe or think that the WORD of God isn't the TRUTH! God is LORD. In the begining was the Word and the Word was and is God. God didn't leave Himself out when He said, Let us make man in our image and let's not leave off, after our likeness! Remember Proverbs 8:22 to 8:31 when God created the Earth with Wisdom, a beautifull place for us to live. In 8:31 who do you think was Rejoicing. Not Esau I bet. Romans 9:13. As it iis written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. Read Malachi 1:3 and you only can hate someone and know someone, how? By living and being around them and that is the same when it comess to love as with Jacob. In the very begining before the attempted overthrow of the devil spoken of in Revelation 12, where the satan steals a third of God`s stars, Gods children and cast them to Earth spoken of in Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13 and listen to Jesus from 13:36 to 43. Think of this! The word, REPLENISH! When you replenish, well, 2nd time here! So, when you read in Job 38:when God is telling Job about creating Earth and then in verse 7 where all the souls that where created were shouteing for joy, Just think of you standing there in your spiritual body, yea, it looks just like you here except its made out of a little different puddy, anyway, you can't tell the difference, when you stand with them and they speak, the messengers, they looked just like us.Oh! Looking at Job 38 I saw in verse 32 the word Mazzaroth, that`s the 12 signs of the Zodiac, just a thought. Oh! Genesis 1:2 that 4th word [ was ] is hayah and translated became without form and void, Father got mad at satan. Jeremiah 4:22 on will let you know what happen to our happy place, our beautiful earth. God filled the earth on the 6th day with a lot of folks of all the beautiful colors and then on the 7th day which you could say, spiritual completeness He created the Folks, Adam and Eve, for the blood line of Christ. Well, I'm emailing this from my phone and I got to go, so, take care and God Bless all of you that Love Our Father and I`ll be back! Gary
