2 Peter 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
  • A disciple on Psalms 22 - 7 years ago
Dear Dan; Titus 1:14 "Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth." I most certainly answered you very well; but you don't like the answer! Why don't you then stay with a crowd you're more comfortable with; like Cain and the Pharisees? But be advised; God scorns the scorner, but gives grace to the lowly, and makes wise the simple.

TITUS 1:14 "NOT GIVING HEED TO JEWISH FABLES AND COMMANDMENTS OF MEN THAT TURN FROM THE TRUTH" Matthew 21:38 "But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance." The Jews absolutely and without apology reject the Lord Jesus Christ, and have entirely set up themselves as the authorities instead of Jesus.

Titus 1:3 3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour. Apostle Paul was given the Words to preach from God the Son. Nobody knew what Jesus was telling Paul, when Paul reveal it in writing, the Jews were shocked in unbelief.

Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. We will know them by there fruits.

God Almighty is God of order and looks at the heart of men, man character qualiftions according to our Lord. Who able to teach the word plus live it in there lives. If You can rule your household then you can not lead the flock.

God give many examples of men who took on more than one wife and how it negatively effected their life... Steve when you read your bible try reading the whole story within its context, don't take bird and pieces.... God has always only condoned one wife, Starting with Adam and Eve, God never changes,
  • Irene123 on Psalms 5 - 7 years ago
There are people on here that say that God wasn't capable of watching over His word as it was being written. Through MUCH devout prayer by the scribes God guided them in the writing. Isa. 55:11; Ps. 138:2; 19:7; 68:11. A God that CANNOT lie, Titus 1:2. Always discount anyone that says anything negative about the Word of God. Do NOT reply; just ignore them.

Concerning Irene123 her question about having one wife there are many places in the bible where God condones polgmany in fact most middle eastern nations know that polgmany is of God .God gave David many wives as well as many great men of God So your answer is it is not for everyone but for some it is,however only men can be polgmanist not women.

As much as is possible - we need to .reason' on here, using SCRIPTURE to prove a point; not get 'upset' by other's remarks, Isa.1:18. God's own will not come back to Him void, Isa. 55:11. Let God's word do it's work - and it will; that's a PROMISE from God; Titus 1:2. We need to ask God to increase our faith; "Lord, I believe, help thou my unbelief", Mk. 9:29.
  • Irene123 on Titus 1 - 7 years ago
    V. 6 - I saw this question on the back pg. comments; "Is it only Elders 'n deacons that can have only one wife or is it all Christians". EVERYBODY in the church is to be an example to everyone else; NO ONE is special in their private life.
  • Ray321 on Titus 1 - 7 years ago
Not by works of Righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Gost; Titus 3:5 Jesus did it all, all we have to do is believe 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 and take Paul's Gospel that Jesus gave him through a revelation. Jesus has chosen Paul for Salvation today, Romans through Philemon explain all this. God bless you ....

"MasterProhet" God does not lie. As believers we should think on these verses also. Titus 1:2 God cannot lie. Heb. 6:18 It is impossible for God to lie, he is immutable (unchanging) James 1:17 No shadow of turning. This is because he is HOLY, HOLY, HOLY REV 4:8. His promises are faithful and true. We serve a truly awesome God. I love reading all the different comments.

No, women are not to be pastors in the New Testament. Every time you find mention of a bishop ( 1 Timothy 3:1-9; Titus 1:7) it is referring to a male. Even when you read the postscript on some of the epistles it will list the bishop's name and it is always a male. God has set forth an order in the home and the church ( 1 Cor. 11:3). The only commandment for women to teach is found in Titus 2:3.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 1 John 4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come and even now already is it in the world. Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Think about....... The Lord Jesus created a pulled a woman out of a rib bone from Adam. A woman with all of her creativity, love, ability to empower her household and position of honor like no other. If the Lord Jesus did made all of that out of a rib bone.....what can be so difficult to believe Him for in your life? Titus 1:2 "God cannot lie "

Yes, just as the word of God says: some who profess to walk with God but have nothing in them to show neither their deeds exhibit Christlike nature. That 's the reason why God said so in the scriptures that it is not everyone who says 'Lord, Lord ' will enter into the Kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. The word of God goes on to say that on that day, many will say to the Lord, 'Lord, Lord, 'did we not prophesy in your name, cast out demons in your name, and do mighty works in your name? And then will I say unto you, I know you not depart from me, ye workers of iniquity. Stay with the word and neither add nor subtract anything from the word. Leave a life worthy of the Gospel.

We must be careful that we follow the teaching on Jesus when appointing men as leader in the church. They must be men of God. They must be good stewards of the gospel and not teachers of themselves.

Hello Enapejeremiah The Bible tells us to 2 Timothy 2 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. There are colleges and universities that are set up for Theology teaching that awards academic achievements in this field of study. In the end, it is the Holy Ghost, the true Holy Ghost with the speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God gives that truly does the teaching and opens up a person s understanding. Whether that instruction comes from within or from a Holy Ghost filled teacher the instruction is still from the Holy Ghost, John 14 26.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Titus 1 - 10 years ago
Hello Enapejeremiah I do not believe that I stated that they should have academic qualifications. I did state both parties should have faith. I would like to add that all parties should be people of faith. They should be guided by the Holy Ghost. The jobs of the offices in Ephesians are the following Ephesians 4 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ . Now there is nothing wrong with education, but make sure that you are getting the right education. In the end, everyone should be striving to get save and stay saved according to Acts 2 38.
  • Enapejeremiah on Titus 1 - 10 years ago
Hello, Enape, Leadership must not be base on academic qualification, rather,Gospel leader must be on spiritual calling by God himself, because ,if God calls you, you will have what it takes in the cost leading reason being that the blessing of God make rich and added no sorrow. Thank you for the opportunity share remain bless.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Titus 1 - 10 years ago
Hello Aleisa You are correct you do allow the Holy Ghost to lead you. However, the church of God was set up with leadership in mind Ephesians 4 11 And he gave some, apostles and some, prophets and some, evangelists and some, pastors and teachers So if the Pastor is a man of faith and the one being appointed is a man of faith then the members should respect the pastors choice in a leadership role, unless the one being appointed is proven to be unworthy.
  • Aleisa on Titus 1 - 10 years ago
When you are called into leadership.Follow God guidelines an allow the Holy Spirit to Guide You.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Titus 1 - 10 years ago
Hello PrentisSutton First of all do they believe that you fit the qualifications of a Deacon found in 1 Timothy 3. Second this is where your leadership comes into play. Your Pastor should inform the congregation that when you are in charge of a project you are in charge. However, if your members are given advice on a project or program respect them however the final decision is yours to make if the pastor has given you this leadership role . In the end it is a delicate balance to achieve in gaining respect of members. However through the power of God all things are possible. Then you have to understand there will always be someone who will not follow you. There will always be someone who will question your leadership role. You just have to remain humble and steadfast on the word of God.
  • Joni G on Titus 1 - 10 years ago
PrentisSutton, ask your elders for help with the lay congregation, members. The church has elders to guide the flock. The deacons help with more physical needs. The elders will tell you what to do. Also, pray to God, through Christ for guidance. He will give you wisdom.
