According to the Book of Enoch, the "Watchers" became corrupted, during their residence on earth, and conspired together to take wives from among the humans. The mixing of the species of Angel and Man was, apparently, prohibited by God, but the watchers agreed to take any punishment for it, jointly, as they felt that by doing it jointly, they would not be punished at all. They were wrong.
