    God wanted to be present among His people. He spoke to Moses and gave instructions how to build altars for Him. He wanted people to remember Him and also not to sin.

    On Exodus 20:8-11 the commentary says One day in seven is to be kept holy The 4th commandment says Remember the sabbath day to keep it holy, verse 10 says the 7th day is the sabbath. Don't be fooled into thinking that you can take just any day for the sabbath. God says a specific day 7th is to be kept holy.

    Galatians 4:10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. 11I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain. - Matthew 12:1, Mark 2:23, Luke 6:1 And it came to pass on the second sabbath after the first, that he went through the corn fields and his disciples plucked the ears of corn, and did eat, rubbing them in their hands.
