Calvinism teaches that a great number of human beings created with no chance of being saved-this is not the Christianity of the KJV Bible. And by the way, was Jonathan Edwards and Charles Spurgeon calvinist? and was it truly calvinist that should be given credit for THE GREAT AWAKENING? The internet makes them out to be calvinist-but Rome has men who post slander to even good men who have passed away and cannot defend themselves.
Greetings Dwight - I see your point. If indeed Calvin did teach that some men could not be saved. I do not really know what Calvin taught. I know he was involved with the Geneva Bible.
What does the Bible say about certain people and their salvation? Let us turn to the scriptures.
Malachi Chapter 1: 1 The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.
2 I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? [Was] not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,
3 And I HATED ESAU, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.
Esau rejected the things of God, this is a long study, and as such God rejected him. Can you imagine God said he hated Esau?
Hebrews Chapter 12:14 Follow peace with all [men], and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble [you], and thereby many be defiled;
16 Lest there [be] any fornicator, or profane person, as ESAU, who for one morsel of meat SOLD HIS BIRTHRIGHT.
17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, HE WAS REJECTED: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. ESAU WAS REJECTED OF THE LORD.
Obadiah 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it. (there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau)
Esau married two Hittite women who were of the Canaanite tribes which the Lord had forbidden Israel to do.
Seems harsh, but there it is. Esau rejected the things and blessings of the Lord, looks like the Lord had "returned" the favor. The Herod family were of Esau per Jewish historian Josephus, you know the king who killed all the children in Bethlehem.
