Oil in the Bible usually represents the Holy Spirit or the anointing of the Holy Spirit.. ... You know, a lamp that runs out of oil can no longer give light, and is useless in that condition.

The center column in the Bible references to 2 Timothy 3:5 (or 2 Tim: 1-7) which begins with "This know also, in the last days perilous times shall come"

Verse 5:Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof, from such turn away.

In Jewish weddings the Bridegroom goes to the Brides home and picks her up to go to the Wedding. She's supposed to be ready to go THEN. Not be wrangling with foolish virgins who failed to go to Walmart before it closed.

We are to be wise virgins. Have our lamps full, all the wedding gear, and awaiting for a knock on the door. Listening intently.

Why would we make ourselves miss the knock, chasing around with scatterbrained virgins?

    ******************

Mishael was on my birth certificate by mistake ? when I was born. It was corrected to something else that means the same thing: WHO!!! is like God.

    Hi Mishael,

Do you know what your name means? I never saw that before. Is it a form of Michael? I hope we can discuss this in a godly manner.

    YOU:

The oil for the lamps is the Holy Spirit.

    ME:

In this parable, did not ALL the virgins have oil at one time and why are they called virgins? The five foolish virgins had oil but then ran out. Where the five wise virgins had oil but ALSO

Mat 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

Mat 25:4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

    Mat 25:8 and the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out;

Mat 25:9 and the prudent answered, saying-Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go ye rather unto those selling, and buy for yourselves.

Jesse, Good try, but consider this. Is there a logical transition in Matthew 24:16, that turns the conversation to the Jews? The discourse begins with Jesus and his followers (disciples), which Mark 13 says included Peter, James, John and Andrew. The message of Christ is to Believers. To His followers. Mention of Judea, which happens often in the NT, is not enough.

The Pulpit Commentary might shed some light on this.

"Christians seem to have taken this advice when the city was attacked by Costius Gallus, about A.D. , some three or more years before the siege under Vespasian. Gallus had appeared before the walls, and apparently had every hope of taking the city, when, for some reason not certainly known (either owing to a supposed defeat, or ignorance of his own success, or the advice of his generals), he suddenly withdrew his forces (Josephus, 'Bell. Jud.,' 2:19, 6, 7). The Christians, bearing Christ's warning in mind, and having, as we may conjecture, seen the predicted sign, took the opportunity of flight from the doomed city, and made their escape to Pella."

I don't know why prophecies have historical "shadows" of what is to come, but clearly, mention of Judea does not mean the message was for the Jews. We can't argue in favor of something, from silence. At best, we can say Christ mentioned Judea because He was in Judea. Matt 4:25 says, "Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him."

As most likely with you, I was taught a dispensationalist view of Scripture. And there are things in that that make sense. But, Christ is warning all of us that the Coming and our gathering up to Him will be Immediately After the Great Tribulation. That's why He goes on to warn us to be prepared, in Chapter 25. There is no Pre-Trib Rapture. As Bob Hilt pointed out, if there were, then there would have to be more than 2 resurrections. Two are mentioned. One at the Coming and Rapture of Christ and then the 2nd.

    Hello Carlos,

I'll be quick in my response. First of all, I know that Matthew was written to Hebrew or Jewish people. And I am not saying that we as Gentiles cannot find value in it, as there are many teachings that we can benefit from. But it was written to the Jews. Secondly, I am not going to engage back and forth with you on the timing of the rapture, as our last discussion thread got shut down by the moderators of this site.

I believe in a pre-tribulation rapture and you believe otherwise. I respect that. No issues here. Wouldn't it be nice if every single believer believed the exact same thing? But that will never happen. As far as commentaries go, there are many out there. I read commentaries from time to time, and there are so many of them out there. But no matter what topic you look up, not all commentaries agree with each other. So which commentaries should we believe, only the ones that match our own understanding?

I do appreciate having conversations with you. We're not always going to agree with each other, but I'm sure there are some things we can agree on?

Type this title PRE-TRIB RAPTURE: TRUE OR FALSE? in the youtube search. I should be the only one with this name. highlight, copy and paste it into the youtube browser so you had all the spacing right.

I'm just getting the channel started and learning the software so bear with me. It would be great if you subscribe and also take the two minute survey and maybe pass it on to others to take. I'm trying to do a survey on end times that has never been done. You can put your answers in the comments section or email them. I'm not going to say I know it all as none of us do. But I have put 5 to 7 years into really studying the history of the view I held to for over 30 years to find some serious problems. I hope to help others see these same truths.

Hope to have you on board.
  • Robert Marino - In Reply on Matthew 24:38 - 4 years ago
Appreciate that. I have about 200 pages of notes fine-tuning things I have learned over the last 5 to 7 years. The Holy Spirit has really opened my eyes on this subject.

If you type in PRE-TRIB RAPTURE: TRUE OR FALSE? I am buried even though that is my channel name. try typing in one of my actual video names. here it is Questionnaire Poll on YOUR view of End Times Theology

EXACTLY THIS WAY IN THE YOUTUBE SEARCH BOX, YOU SHOULD FIND ME.

Thumbnail picture should say "End Times Theology with Brother Bob" in this video. I corrected the thumbnail but they still have the top letters chopped off for some reason. Let me know if this works. It should as I just tried it. Get many others to join if you can.

Perhaps this is a good moment for churches to reflect on how we will be able to communicate in times of persecution. Perhaps this Pandemic will make us realize that there will be a time when we won't be able to meet publicly. And we will have to learn to use the tools available to us. I don't know anything about the dark web, except that it is virtually untraceable. Will Christians be able to use it to communicate with each other during persecution. Organizations like ISIS are masters at this. They use the dark web to avoid detection. Is there a lesson there for Christians?

Churches have been forced to use Social Media to continue their Sunday and other services. But these sites are easily traced, tracked and censored. During a time of persecution we will have to communicate in a way that avoids detection, to support, encourage and help each other. It seems so silly and incredible that things Jesus told us would happen, are materializing before our eyes. But is the Tribulation Fiction? Clearly not. Christians as suffering persecution and tribulation as we speak. No one can tell them they are not now living the Tribulation. Christians are being persecuted everywhere. But the suffering of some is greater.

What must we do to prepare? Is the dark web a beginning? Perhaps Christians should begin using this tool now. Get a VPN, Download the App TOR and set up a private chat everyone can access.

Many will see this as Fiction and laugh. Others will think it is ridiculous and farfetched. But people all over the world are using it to warn others of impending arrests (Taiwan), to inform (on persecution and Pandemic), to set up meeting places, etc. Does it hurt to build up defenses? How many Pastors see this Pandemic as a threat? How many even believe persecution is possible in Western Developed 'Christian' countries? Their biggest concern is not persecution. It is finances.

What do you think? Please comment. Pros and Con are always a good thing.

Here I am, at the Church Parking Lot. It is empty. I am here because God impressed on me that as Christians, our greatest duty is to come together to Worship God, to share in His benefits, to Hear and Learn His Word. To Worship Jesus. But what have we done? We have sheltered in place over a Virus. We have hidden from the Commandment. Where have we gone to seek shelter from the storm? To whom have we turned for protection? We have stopped going to Church, willingly, to shelter in place at home and the local supermarkets. Costco, Walmart, Publix, Fresco, Walgreens, CVS are packed. Lines circle the block, in some cases, to get in. We will wait an hour for a can of Baked Beans. But our Churches are closed. No one in sight. No one waiting to get in. Have we missed the significance of Church? Of why we gather?

Of all things in life, Church should be the most important for Believers. It is there we find Healing for out souls. Strength in time of need. But we have abandoned it for our personal safety. Where do we go to taste the fruit of the Lord, if not in Church? What shall it profit a man if he gain the world, but loses his soul?

Suicides, domestic violence, child abuse, drug abuse, frustration, desperation, hopelessness are all on the rise. But the only place where they can get help for their needs, the Hospital of the Soul, is closed. The Church is not accepting any more patients, till further notice. Initially I thought the Pastor in Florida was wrong to open the Church for Services. But God showed me today I was the one that was wrong. What will we do when times of persecution come? When things get really rough? Will we shelter in place? Will we hide in Walmart? Or will we stand firm to Proclaim the name of the Lord Jesus, come hell or high water? Will we cower or Stand in the Strength of the Spirit?

There isn't a venue more important than Church during this Pandemic. But we have all taken a vacation. Jesus died on a Cross and we fear a virus?
  • Mishael - In Reply on Matthew 24:38 - 4 years ago
I heard a prophetic word that stated IF the Body of Christ would stand together corporately, their faith would rid the virus's effects. I didn't get a witness in my spirit about it.

We need to do deep down all out spiritual warfare; armor of God in place; sword of God in our mouthes. (Word of God)

Protect our families, Church, Community, Nation, President, Planet: speak it out!

Holy anger is useful to make demons flee. A whole Nation of people on fire with Holy, righteous anger, spewing scripture like lightning bolts, would work. Right now our faith is violated. Quivering on the ground. People are afraid.

I had to do some spiritual warfare at 4 am. Demons do not want the people to follow Jesus, get free and fight back. I did a whole Bible search on Bible wars: victories and defeats, as a new Christian, 32 yr ago. God is with us in our prayers. We DONT have to take this! Jesus said, LEAVE him, to a demon infested man, and those demons scattered!!

If you add "It is Written" to your scripture, demons will leave. Sometimes they come back to see if you really meant it?

You don't have to drive across town to pray for someone. If you can get some other prayer warriors to join you corporately ? The Lord will use you mightily.

I had a vision 2 years ago about the White House. It was in a conference room. There was a podium on my left arm. No one was on it. Right arm, many people, reporters. Ahead of me, a Very Dark corridor along a wall of windows. I stared at it and began to sense the pure evil in those shadows. I knew people were in there. I couldn't see their faces; but I could see their Fruit. Like a deep pool of evil. Later I was sure of one face but I will not say it. God will reveal it.

We are close to the end of earthly things. Make your comment room useful. Dare I say it? Evangelize. Not to stampede. By the Holy Spirits compelling. Come, let us reason together.

I am not connected to prophet groups

Only the Holy Spirit. I don't know why
