I've always wondered why I never heard anyone else mention this:

All, including the Bible itself, say that Jesus was a direct descendant of David; however, Joseph was the direct descendant of David and Jesus was and is the Son of God (due to the Holy Spirit).

Therefore, one would have to consider Joseph to be but the stepfather of Jesus. And that, of course, would mean that Jesus was not the direct descendant of David.

I love my Jesus, and I love my Bibles. But something is not correct, here.

Jesus is like an adopted son of Joseph. I got this from the Jewish Virtual Library about adoption, "Once a child has been adopted, the adoptee must be treated as if it were biologically the adopter's own. The adoptee is required to honor and respect his/her parents in accordance with the laws of the Torah."

As to his earthly identity, it follows that Jesus is indeed Joseph's son and belonging to the tribe of Judah in the lineage of David.

That is really stretching it. No one Loves Jesus more than I; I even have the cross on the wallpaper of my phone. I am also a student of the Bible, but it is what it is. Don't you realize the Jesus is the son of God? Why do you think he is called as being of the family of God? Half of his life is do to the Holy Spirit, which is of God the Creator.

    God bless and take care.
  • Mishael on the LET US who created everything - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 4 years ago
LET US. That is the Godhead (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) conversing with each other. All three created everything.

    Gen 1:26

    Gen 3:22

    Gen 11:7

God willed it; The Word spoke it (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit performed it.

I believe with good faith that The Father (Almighty God), the Word (the Christ Lord) and the holy spirit are ONE.

When God acts it is also the works of the Word and the Holy Spirit

When the Word acts it is also the works of the Father and His Holy Spirit

When the Holy Spirit acts it is also the works of the Word and the Father

God the Father of Creation expresses His will through both the Word and His Holy Spirit

By the Word of the Lord was the heavens created

And God said let there be light

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Michael Rood explains this in Rood Awakening on tv. He is a descendant from Jesse as I recall. Rood explains it in detail.
  • Richard P DiDomenico - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 4 years ago
Who is Michael Rood and who is a descendant of Jesse? Do you mean Jesus?

Come on people. God was the Father of Jesus. He had no earthly Father. He did have a earthly Mother. Mary. Joseph and Mary had no sex until after Jesus was born.
  • Stanjett - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 4 years ago
Half of his life is do to the Holy Spirit, which is of God the Creator. And the other half of His life was human, the son of Mary. He was human, just like you and me. (well, not really like you or me. hopefully you know what I mean,)
