    The number seven stands for completion. Elijah has just completely destroyed the prophets of Baal, and has told the servant to go look to the sea seven times. On the seventh time, he is to tell Ahab to get on his chariot, “that the rain stop thee not”. The Lord is using Elijah to turn the hearts of the children of Israel away from idolatry, to worship the Lord God of their fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Israel.
