Verse 1- the word Magdalene means inhabitant of Magala. Often in the bible a person’s name has a reference to their origin such as Simon Barjona (Peter) which means son of Jona or john and James Zebedee = sons of thunder which is their fathers name which is the Greek form of Zebadiah or Barabbas = son of father.
