Timothy Wayne George on 2 Timothy 3 - 12 years ago
Paul is instructing his spiritual son in the ministry, Timothy, that he will endure strong persecutions, and that in the last days, perilous times will come. What we are seeing are the birth pains that Jesus talked about in the Matthew 24; when the Apostles asked what will be the sign of the Kingdom. All of the synoptic gospels contain this discussion. So Paul wants Timothy to know that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness, so the man of God can be perfect, thoroughly ready for every good work. So we can be sure that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and it can be trusted to get us through difficult days. So pray and ask the Holy Spirit to teach you as you read it so that you may comfort others.
