I guess I would like a prayer, to help me understand God more. To understand what I need to know and feel. My mother is a believer of God and she is always trying to get me to understand God the way she does. I do believe in God, I just have a different way that I see God and I always seem to be told I'm wrong. I listened to some sermons in the past and I always feel like there is always some contradiction. I am told I'm too negative or that I criticize too much what pastors would preach, yet I feel like the personal journey I'm taking to find God is being criticized as well especially by my mother. I haven't gone to church since I was like in my pre teen years. I just wouldn't find comfort or peace in the church I was going to because it always made me feel like I am never enough. It felt like I was made fun of by the deacons of the church for having a bible that wasn't the "correct" bible according to the church. I felt like the pastor would always criticize others in his sermons when yet he was just as guilty as they were of sin. I sometimes feel like I over look everything and don't focus on what i need to. I pray every now and then, I try to be humble and helpful where ever I go, and tho I am a sinner I am proud of the kind of person I have become. Its like no matter how much what I believe to be in my heart it is never enough. I know I will never be perfect, but I at least want to be enough, and I feel like I get criticized by my mother or others of the same faith, because I don't believe in God the way they do. I can't have my own personal journey to God, it has to be the way they say. Am I in the wrong here?
When the sermons make you feel that you are a bad person, that is the Holy Spirit convicting you of your need for Jesus Christ as your Savior. The Bible says plainly that we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Jesus Christ died for us. Admit to God your sinful state, believe in your heart that Jesus, God's son, sacrificed himself for you on the cross, and ask Jesus to come into your life as Savior and Lord. I will be praying for you.
Even good Christians oppose themselves and people they love. (Mom)
You take over your Christian walk. Can't anyone else do it for you. Just say "I appreciate your concern" and then make your exit.
Did you do as described in John 3 ? If so, then you are born again; and the Holy Spirit came alongside to be a daily part of your life. He...is your Teacher; Comforter. If you're veering off course, He will alert you.
Any voice that accuses you and attacks your faith in God; is Satan. You must put on your armor, Ephesians 6, pick up your "Sword" which is scripture you have hidden in your heart; and run Satan out of your life. If you need a bigger sword...keep adding Bible into your armory every day. The demonic are invisible but you can tell when they're around: they accuse, they tear at your personality and any way they can, tear you down. You have no need that anyone teach you but The Holy Spirit: which is the Spirit of Jesus Christ. He will undertake your learning if you ask Him to. Give him all the confusion and the wounded spirit and ask Him to heal you completely.
Generally I suggest you would watch Charles Stanley videos on YouTube; but I'm going to add to that, videos by Charles Capps. He teaches on the Authority of the Believer. Both are fatherly Teachers. You'll enjoy the sermons. Greg Laurie teaches a lot of younger people. You might check out his sermons too.
You have suffered a breach but you are healed of that NOW in the Name of Jesus! Receive it now.
Every time you hear the Accuser; cast him out in Jesus name. Pray for the Lord to undertake your mom's comments. Forgive always! This releases God to be at work in her life. You don't have to do a thing. Give it to Him.

Understand that you don't need a Church to have a relationship with God.
The Gospel is this.
If thou shalt confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and if you beleive with your heart that God raised Him from the dead you shall be saved.
Nothing else is required for you to be saved.
