Why do people prefer Sunday than Sabbath which is mentioned in the Bible?
  • Bendito Palavra - In Reply on Hebrews 2 - 4 years ago
By Jesus Christ's sacrificial death and resurrection we are no longer in bondage to the demands of the law ( Colossians 2).

Hebrews chapter 4 explains our rest (ceasing from our own works and resting in Jesus Christ). Today is the day of salvation.

    Concerning the Law;

The everlasting Law God established with those that desire to be called His children still stands.

    The 10 Commandments still stand.

Any time we sin we are under the Law.

    Everyone sins: Everyday!

Blood ordinances were fulfilled by the death of Christ ( Matthew 26:28, Romans 2:29, Colossians 1:14)

Priestly duties connected to the sons of Aaron were fulfilled in Christ. ( Hebrews 8:1)

The Temple was destroyed; as promised: ( Matthew 24:2)

    Deuteronomy 29:29

"The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children FOR EVER, that we may do all the words of this law."

    1 Chronicles 16:17

"And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an EVERLASTING covenant,"

    Ephesians 2:15

"Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;"

    Hebrews 7:12

"For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law."

    Matthew 27:51

"And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;"

    All has not been fulfilled.

All will not be fulfilled until the return of Christ.

    Believe the words of Jesus.

    Mathew 5:18

"For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

    Concerning works;

Why would Jesus care to evaluate the WORKS of the churches that are on earth at the end times when He comes back if they don't matter? ( Revelation 2:2, 9, 13, 19. 3:1, 3:8, 3:15)

    Also look at:

James 2:14-26 - "Faith without works is dead"

    Revelation 14:13

    Revelation 20:12

    Your Question.

WHY DO PEOPLE FOLLOW SUNDAY RATHER THAN THE 7TH DAY?

Because they have been indoctrinated into the various religions and refuse the 10 Commandments.

They use the day Christ rose as the reason to change the day even though no instructions were left for us to follow in that manner.

They use the Apostles meeting on the first day of the week to authorize the change (even though Paul continually taught in the Synagogues ON THE SABBATH well after Christ had risen).

Because these days it is easier to follow Sunday and not the 7th day.

    Afraid of change.

    Many reasons. None Biblical!

Unless one keeps the Sabbath, the same may not be keeping the commandments. And if one is not able to keep the commandments then the Law requires death.

For this reason Jesus came to fulfill the commandments and enter into His rest. Those that are born again by Faith in His works may also enter into the Holy of Holies and be seated in His Mercy Seat that covers the Law.

We can rest in His commandments, all of them, in love and in faith as God looks upon His reconciled Lamb's account that we by His Justification can live in. Thus the born again believer can have eternal life in comfort like Lazarus the poor man.

And we can gather with brethren of the like, precious faith whenever we can, by His grace and worship freely in Spirit and Truth.

    Carleton,

I agree that we as believers can freely rest and be justified in God's commandments and enter into the Rest that is given through the grace of Jesus Christ.

You say "Jesus came to fulfill the commandments"?

    I disagree.

Jesus came to fulfill the "law" ( Luke 24:44).

One "jot"or one tittle" of the LAW will not pass until ALL is fulfilled ( Matthew 5:18)

These are powerful words from Jesus that should not be dismissed or overlooked. ALL has not been fulfilled yet, therefore the LAW still stands.

Love is the fulfilling of the LAW ( Romans 13:10)

That means that the LAW is still in effect.

Only ONE person that ever walked the earth did not NEED the LAW.

The rest of us need repentance every day, because we break the law every day.

The death and resurrection of Jesus fulfilled blood and other certain ORDINANCES of the Law, but did not abolish the LAW itself.

How can we "rest" in His commandments when we break them?

Our rest comes through faith in our repentance and His promise of forgiveness and a new standing in Him from that.

Hi Greg, Jesus made a way for a condemned to death sinner to be protected from the laws requirements by the same putting themselves in the Mercy seat of Christ that covers the Law. That Mercy seat has been fulfilled, and those brave enough to enter in by faith and place themselves in that seat are covered and will not know death eternal but life eternal like Lazarus the poor man. When Jesus paid with his water and his blood for our sins on the Cross, then verses 17 & 18 in in Matthew Chapter 5 come to Life. Jesus has one more work so to speak, to come for His Bride, then there will be the consummation and all will be in all. No one on earth even a born again sinner can justify themselves as living by the commandments in fullness. I think we all know that if we are honest in our hearts. Thankfully we have Jesus Christ, God's Son and his Holy Spirit to lead the born again believer to the consummation in Heaven.

    Hi Carlton,

I agree that Jesus is the way to everlasting life.

I am not sure what you mean by a "condemned to death sinner" being "protected by the Law" by "putting themselves in the Mercy Seat of Christ."

I don't want to live in a society that allows murderers to be justified in the Law because they have decided to be "brave enough" to believe that the Law of God has been fulfilled through the blood of Christ and therefore we do not need to be under it anymore.

Faith in Jesus does not free people from the consequences of sin.

Murderers are to be dispatched back to God.

Forgiveness is up to the one offended, not the offender; and it is based on repentance.

The Law is there for us to follow.

Again, I will state that only Jesus did not NEED the Law.

    He was Perfect.

The rest of us need the Law.

    Concerning the "Bride:"

I don't believe that the collective Christian churches are the Bride of Christ.

The Bride is Jerusalem that God took to wife ( Ezekiel 16:8), and SHE will be renewed and called "New Jerusalem" ( Revelation 3:12, 21:2)

We as Christians make up the collective "body" of Christ ( Ephesians 1:23, 5:23, Colossians 1:18, 24, etc..)

Good evening Greg, My wife and young son went into the wilderness today to see some absolutely beautiful waterfalls created by our great God. Regarding sinners I think you understand that a death sentence was placed upon Adam and Eve and their children. Thus our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. My life had to be sacrificed by faith and repentance outside of the gate like Jesus. Fully believing this was so, like many, I could enter through the torn veil without fear and find my new life in the Mercy Seat where Jesus covers my sins. To continue to willing sin I would be again an unbeliever, but His grace is sufficient. I remain until the end of this life a sinner saved by grace and am assured of this position by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which comforts me when I do well and reproves me when I error.

It seems some of your concerns are outside of the believer's Kingdom (which I refer to as His Church). I love my neighbor as I understand my own unrighteousness and unworthiness. I pray for those who are at fault with the laws of their respective lands that they can repent and find grace with God and man. But for their punishment I leave it to the magistrate. As Christians we are likely the most accountable to the laws of the land because we were bought for a price and do not want to ever devalue the work of Jesus at Calvary.

    1 Corinthians 15:47

The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

Do we as Christians not want to be more like Him at any cost?

    Thank you for your thoughts.

Reply to Greg . Know Ye not that We are the temples of God and His Spirit dwells within us. Verily verily I say unto thee, unless a man be born of Water and Spirit he can not ENTER the Kingdom of God. In my Father's house are many mansions ( enter the Kingdom into my Father's house) I go to prepare a place for you ( He has gone and He prepares our hearts ...now.) so that where I am you may be also . Acknowledge Him and He does direct our paths. See Lazarus, He did not conform to the world. He did not have worldly possessions. He did no works. He sat, He called upon the name of the Lord and He was still and knew that Our Lord is God, He suffered , He was mocked and pushed aside. Much to be seen in the Lazarus. John the Baptist said I must decrease and He must increase ....indeed self must be denied to the death . Penalty of sin is death....all flesh must die! But...Jesus is the ressurection of Life. He enters His chosen in ...Now. Death has lost its sting. There is nothing that can separate us from the Love of God. Yes brother. The church is the heart. If the oil ( His Spirit ) is full. He will see your light like a beacon set on a hill. Be the light that lights the dark places. Love by laying down your life for your friends. Our Lord is no man and no liar. What He has said He has fully performed . Love and Peace Is with you always into forever
