What is a backslider? can a person that has truely repented of their sins and is born again lose their salvation?
  • Stanjett - In Reply on Isaiah 46:4 - 4 years ago
You did say truely. The answer is No.
  • Stanjett - In Reply on Isaiah 46:4 - 4 years ago
    No. But they

    will get less rewards.
  • Frank Garcia - In Reply on Isaiah 46:4 - 4 years ago
Yes if a person rejects the Holy spirit in his life and continues evil living without repenting or doesn't even care he can loss salvation. But that's up to God who knows everything in a persons heart God is the only true judge.

The Accuser is trying to convince you that Jesus didn't do enough to save mankind.

Jesus did! :) You're going to have to stomp on satans head just like Jesus. It was a prophesy written in Genesis 3:15. It was fulfilled.

Fight those voices. Fill your VOICE with scriptures you have memorized. The Bible says we have the Mind of Christ.

You have all you need to make demons run, when you show up. Recognize their FRUIT; send them to deserts and hot places, in Jesus name.

We shall be partakers of Christ, IF we hold the beginning of our confidence stead fast unto the end oh, yes the person can be saved and be lost if he turned his back on God
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Isaiah 46:4 - 3 years ago
    Hi butch,

you say: "yes the person can be saved and be lost if he turned his back on god" i agree!

thank god we have such a great shepherd in our lord jesus christ that want let that happen!!!

the shepherd job is to care for the sheep and ( make sure they dont get lost in the wilderness by wondering.)

    john 10:11

i am the good shepherd: ( the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.)

with that being said i feel secure the "good shepherd" will do his job!!

    how will he do that?

    john 10:7-9.

then said jesus unto them again, verily, verily, i say unto you, i am the door of the sheep.

all that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

i am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

jesus says he is the door of the sheep, there is only one door! you came in by jesus, "you have to slip by him to get lost".

    john 10:27-28.

my sheep hear my voice, and i know them, and they follow me:

and i give unto them eternal life; ( and they shall never perish,) neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

:no man shall pluck them out of my hand is one thing, " they shall never perish' is another!!

no man shall pluck them out his hand, is because they want follow no one but jesus. ( they hear his voice and wont follow strangers.

they shall never perish covers broader protection, he want let them wonder off, get lost,

"he holds them in his hand"!!!

sheeps gets lost by nature, they cant keep they self safe.

thats the shepherds job. and they dont loose they sheep (( because they follow him ))!!!

and this is the work of the holy spirirt!!!

    god bless.

Paul, the writer of much of the new testament; saved and given instruction to help save others by Christ, lets us know that even he could lose his salvation if he doesn't continue to walk with the Lord. 1 Cor 9: 24-27. Please note vs 27.

Our names are already written in the "book of life" ( Exodus 32:32-33, Rev 13:8, Rev 20:15, Rev 21:17) and many, many, more. Just type in, King James Version for the Book of Life verses. So, we have salvation through Christ but we must accept it. Acts 2:41 for example, talks about a few thousand that got saved (accepted their salvation).

However, picking up your cross and FOLLOWING CHRIST will require training given us through the Holy Spirit and many people will not want to tolerate that training for heaven and like the seed without root, wither up and die ( Matt 13:6). Or leave the flock and wonder off into the world. Satan does everything he can to temp and lead others away from Christ. He seems to be very successful by filling our lives with materialism. It can be easier than we want to admit to desire what the world offers if we put Christ second.

Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God in all that you do and I'll see you in heaven.

    :)

    Hope this helps a little.

    Hi GT.

Sorry for the late response to your msg.

The thread that you responded to is 2 weeks old and we touched on quite a bit, However I would like to touch on the verse you gave a bit.

1 Corinthians 9:22-27. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.

KNOW YE NOT THAT THEY WHICH RUN IN A RACE RUN ALL, BUT ONE RECEIVETH ( THE PRIZE? )So run, that ye may obtain.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. NOW THEY DO IT TO OBTAIN A CORRUPTIBLE CROWN; BUT WE AN INCORRUPTIBLE.

"Now lets pause for a second, If this CROWN is salvation and can be lost it wouldn't be INCORRUPTIBLE!!"

    "continuing"

I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a ( CASTAWAY.)

Castaway here is "adokimos" it means unapproved or rejected.

Paul is not talking about turning back or sin, he's talking about PRIZES and CROWNS! This is rewards!!

1 Corinthians 3:13-15. Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

    God bless

Hello, I appreciate what you wrote there and agree with all your points except the book of life. It's my opinion that we're not written in the book of life until we're first judged by God. I think God knows all and might even take notes in such a book.

I think many assume we're 'saved' instantly when we start following Christ. While the Bible says we can have assurance of salvation if we follow Him, but I'm not aware of any verse saying we're instantly saved and will skip judgment and are in a book of life, as if its a guest list for heaven.

I looked up the 4 verses you posted about 'book of life' and they don't say that all Christians have their names written in the book of life, it doesn't say who or when their names may be written in the book, and doesn't say this comes before judgment day. The Exodus reference suggests that Moses's name was written in a book by God. It doesn't call it the book of life. Moses was also a special person appointed by God. God also replied with this: And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. And the Bible says everyone has sinned.

1 Peter 1:5 - "...salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."

Doesn't say you have salvation now, doesn't say you have it instantly and aren't judged, it says revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 1:13 "...hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;"

This says grace isn't even given to us until the end at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 20:12 - indicates the book of life is used on the day of judgment to review what all have done. Either way all will be judged.

    2 Corinthians 5:10

    Romans 2:16

    John 12:48

    Hebrews 9:27

    Revelation 20:12

If you have more evidence that says the moment you say respond to an altar call you're instantly in the book of life, or that the moment you decide to follow Jesus you are written in the book of life, please let me know where... Thank you.

Brother Adam, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

I BELIEVE, Christ is the BOOK OF LIFE just as he is the tree of life, the lamb of God, etc. If you are IN CHRIST and CHRIST IN YOU, then at that point you are in the Book of Life and being made ONE IN CHRIST you become a book of life, ALSO.

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: the SEED is the WORD of GOD.

If you take a SEED and plant it; the part that emerges looks nothing like the SEED that was planted.

But at MATURITY when it is HARVESTED and put in the grain bin; it is EXACTLY like the SEED that was planted. We have the SEED; Christ himself, the WORD planted in us. Now we look nothing like the SEED; but at HARVEST (death of this body) we will be put in the grain bin (Christ body, immortality) and we will be like him; we become SEED to be planted, ALSO.

Matthew 12:37 For by my WORDS (CHRIST) thou shall be justified, and by my WORDS (CHRIST) thou shall be condemned.

If you are IN CHRIST and CHRIST IN YOU; you are being judged NOW.

John 12:48 .... the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him ...

1 Corinthians 11:31 If we would judge ourselves (by the word), we should not be judged.

1 Corinthians 11:31 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

1 Peter 4:17 For the TIME IS COME that judgement must begin at the house of God ...

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we...
