That is a great question. I would also like to know the answer to that because I am not sure what the answer is. I know what baptism is and what it represents, but as far as who can do the actual baptism, I hope someone can give an answer to that.
I do know that baptism has been around long before the church came into existence. There are several different rules today on how to conduct baptisms. But in the old days, before the church was in existence, the person being baptized was the only one who went into the water.
The other person performing the baptism did not go into the water. That person was just there as a witness to make sure the person being baptized was fully submerged in the water. Even if a single hair was sticking up out of the water, they would have to do it all over again.
Hopefully, someone can give a little more clarification on whether or not a woman can be a witness!
