What is ment by the term I Shall Not want
  • Psalm 23 - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Psalm 23

I shall not want' means that everything you need, you have. On an higher plane of consciousness everything is available for you. All that remains is just for you to see in faith. It is a proclamation of acknowledging God, the divinity within yourself and the awesome power your mind cannot even comprehend.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. The speaker says that the Lord (God) is like a shepherd to him. Instead, he means that with God as his protector, he won't lack anything he needs. The word "want", means "lack." I shall not lack...

When we're afraid of dying, we don't need a shepherd's rod to discipline us or his crook to pull us back on the path. We can pass through that valley without fear because we know our Shepherd is with us, and we're comforted to know that he's fully capable of guiding and sustaining us.

Every one of us battles this every day, being content. ( Hebrews 13:5) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. It is like the examples in the Bible of sheep fully trusting their master to take care of all their needs.

We must be as sheep, we must accept we are completely dependent on our Shepherd for protection and all our needs regardless of what state we are in. The wolves of this world can easily chase down a sheep and if we rely on ourselves were goners.

Even if we walk through the valley of the shadow of death God is still providing and protecting us. Even if we are struggling, in despair, heartbroken we must remember we are His sheep. This is easy to say and the eyes of desire in our flesh are strong. So when the old if word invades our head; if it went this way, if I had that, if, if, if. We humble ourselves and pray to be led by the Spirit in the faith of Jesus Christ our Savior for strength.

We must remember our promise is not of this world and regardless of what we face in this world, the face we will see when this world is gone will wipe all fears, sorrows, and troubles away. Our faith in Jesus Christ, by the grace of God, and with the gift of the Holy Ghost we may stumble but we will not fall and the joy we will have when we see His Face is unimaginable.
