It wasn't just the Israelites who behaved badly, coming out of Egypt. Moses killed a Egyptian and was on the run.

I tend to think because Moses killed in cold blood, he too was excluded from entering the Holy land. Just a gut feeling.

    ( Exodus 2:11-12)

11 And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

12 And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

    Hi Esther.

You would have to ignore and reject the reason given to hold that view,

Numbers 20:11-12. And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

    God bless.

The fact that Moses committed a capital crime should be of worry to us all. For every action there's a equal and opposite reaction. I'm sure Moses was dealt with for his sins, no stone left unturned.
