Hello, brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

I just wanted to throw this out to you all, sort of as a trivia question, but do any of you know of anyone else in the bible whose name was Jesus son of the father, other than Christ Himself?

I'll post a response tomorrow that I think you might find fascinating!

    Hi Jesse

    I would guess Jesus Barabbas.

    Yes Jesse,

I heard a teaching from Chuck Missler on it a few years ago! He explained it similar.

He also said he believed it to be a double fulfillment of prophecy.

In John 5:43. Jesus says I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. Also speaking of the Antichrist.

    Interesting.

    Brother Spencer,

That is an interesting thought indeed from Chuck Missler. Many years ago, I used to listen to him every morning on my way to work. Right after him, I would listen to Greg Laurie. And then on the way home I would listen to Raul Ruiz. He used to crack me up with his accent, especially when he said the Jews, he would say the juice!

I also have a book by Raul Ruiz titled "Fury to Freedom." It's a great read and testimony how the Lord saved him. I cried like a baby when I got to the part of the book where his dad received Christ.

Anyways, if you get a chance to read that book, it is very powerful and well worth the read!

    Brother Jesse,

I found material on Raul Ruiz on the web,

I listened to his testimony, Great testimony. I will research more on his Dad.

    Thanks.

    Brother Spencer,

I misspelled his last name. It is Ries. But it looks like you found him okay on the web. His testimony is powerful, as you listened to it. I'm not sure if you will find anything about his dad, but I can share a little from what I remember in his book. It's been over 10 years since I read it. But as you know, Raul grew up involved in gangs and he was a very violent person. I think the Lord had plans for him for sure. He married a Christian lady but his violent behavior eventually led to her leaving with their children. He came home from drinking and she was gone.

If I remember him saying in the book, he couldn't take that she and the kids were leaving and he was about to end his own life. He went into a rage and started smashing up everything in the house. When he went to smash the TV, it came on and it was Pastor Chuck Smith.

Anyway, he started watching Chuck Smith and ended up surrendering his life to Christ. He started his own church and his ministry took off. But his dad was a non-believer and wanted nothing to do with the Lord. This tore at Raul's heart for many years. Here he was as the Pastor of a large church leading many people to Christ, and yet he could never get through to his dad. Several years went by and Raul wanted so much for his dad to come to his church knowing that it would never happen.

But one day, totally unexpected, at the end of one of Raul's sermons, he gave an alter call for anyone wanting to come up to receive Christ. There was a long line that came up and half way through the line, his dad comes forward. The way Raul tells it in his book will make you cry. He didn't even know his dad was sitting in the congregation, and he never expected to see his dad show up, an abusive dad who wanted nothing to do with the Lord. But there he was sitting there. He came to see his son. It must have been a powerful sermon. It's so awesome how the Lord works and how powerful His word is!

JESUS had a great discussion with the Jews about Him himself. JESUS said to them: John 5:v. 37 to 47

37 The Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard His voice AT ANY TIME, nor seen His shape.

38 And ye have not His Word abiding in you: for whom He hath sent, him ye believe not.

39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which TESTIFY of me.

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye MIGHT HAVE LIFE.

41 I receive not honour from MEN.

42 But I know you, that YE HAVE NOT THE LOVE OF GOD IN YOU.

43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not ( John 1:v.11): if another (AN IMPOSTER, A FALSE MESSIAH) shall come in his own name, HIM YE WILL RECEIVE.

44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another(human honours), and seek not the honour that cometh from GOD only?

45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.

46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.

47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Yeah, if ANOTHER (AN IMPOSTER, A FALSE MESSIAH)shall come in his own name,HIM THE JEWS WILL RECEIVE(this prophecy of the LORD will fulfill LITERALLY in near future)even him whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders-2Thes.2:v.9.Verses 10to12 reveal:

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong DELUSION, that they SHOULD BELIEVE A LIE:- believe in the false messiah-believe in the DRAGON(Rev.13:v.11-18);Who will oppose and exalt himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God will sit in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

That they all might be DAMNED who believed not the truth(believed not in JESUS

    S Spencer,

You got it! Barabbas had the same name and title as Christ. What I find interesting is that at every Passover, the Roman official would say I'm going to do something kind for the Jewish people because at that time the Jews were under the Roman government. So this particular Passover, the Roman government decided that they would release from jail any prisoner the Jews wanted as a gift back to them.

So Pilate is thinking "Hey, tell you what I'll do. I'll beat Jesus up some and whip Him some and maybe they'll look at Him all beat up and think, well you know, that's enough!" And he says, I'll tell you what. Now that I have beaten Him I'll release Him to you to fulfill this gift. I'll pronounce Him guilty and then I'll release Him.

I can't help but wonder why in Matthew 27:17, Pilate would phrase it that way? Why did he call Him Jesus the one who is called Christ? They all knew who He was but He said it in a certain way for certain reason.

It is because Barabbas name was Jesus, Yeshua Barabbas. And Christ is Yeshua Ha'Mashiach. Both people were named Jesus. Both had the name Jesus son of the father. The name Barabbas, in Aramaic, "bar" is the word for son, and "Abbas" is the word for father. His name was the savior, the son of the father. Interesting!

They had a face-to-face encounter with the true savior, and the false savior. The other Gospels say that Barabbas was one of the most evil criminals that there ever was. He was an insurrectionist. He was a murderer, he was the thief, and he was in jail for life. So what Pilate did was he pulled Barabbas out and said, they are not going to want Barabbas on the street because he is the worst criminal there is. Verse 16 says that he was a "notable" prisoner.

So, do you want Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ? Which Jesus son of the father do you want? You see, there is Jesus who is called Barabbas and a Jesus who is called Christ.

I just wanted to share this. I myself find it fascinating!
