    When is the Sabbath Day?
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Hi Sarah.

The way I personally draw it up.

In Biblical history there is 2 Sabbaths.

One is collectively all the Sabbaths the Lord gave the nation Israel as a day of rest.

Deuteronomy 5:15. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that THE LORD THY GOD BROUGHT THEE OUT THENCE THROUGH A MIGHTY HAND AND BY A STRETCHED OUT ARM: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

(Did you notice the Lord brought them out)

" NO work on their part"

The other Sabbath is the "Lord of Sabbaths In Christ " Who gave Israel rest from their works and Sabbaths which was a deed in itself and was a Shadow of what was to come.

Colossians 2:16-17. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

    Which was the 7th day.

Good luck trying to figure the 7th day today considering they used a 30 month calendar. and you have to factor in leap years and a evening to morning/ six to six end of day.

    God bless

Sarah Look this up and have fun, when the age of grace started it was the end of the law, therefore for the believer all days are sabbath or holy, my scripture Collosians 2: 16-23. I'm not saying don't go to Church or wherever you assemble with other christians im sharing that don't make it a legalistic thing mentally. We walk with God in our Hearts and in our minds. It's not where your at physically its where your heart and head is spiritually. and remember Romans 8: 28-39, and have a God Blessed Day.

    Sarah,

    Here's the answer:

The Sabbath starts Friday at sundown and ends Saturday at sundown.

In 325 AD Constantine changed the day of worship to Sunday, according to pagan gods. All Christian religious holidays fall on a pagan holiday.

Emperor wanted an agreement done between all religious sects and beliefs at that time to compromise and they mixed paganism and christianity then it Got really confusing. Known as Creed of nicea. There's a lot more detail to this. Look up Historically.

Many thanks to all who responded to my question about the Sabbath. Exodus 20:8 - Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments.
