I have heard pastors say that that your clothes in heaven will be given to you according to your works. I cannot find a bible verse to support this. I greatly appreciate your help with this teaching.
Sounds like the Pastors were combining parts of scripture to make a point that every one will have different rewards, some more than others. Some lights will shine brighter than others. Maybe they were considering lights as clothing.
Revelation 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.
Daniel 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Trudy, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.
He who is born of the flesh is flesh, he who is born of the Spirit is SPIRIT.
Does SPIRIT need clothes, streets to walk on, houses with rooms to live in, windows to look out of, doors to go through, sun to give light, food to eat, water to drink.
Behold all things have become NEW.
You want exist as you do NOW.
You become the LIKENESS OF CHRIST (fullness of Deity), who only hath immortality (life with no end).
Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God,unto a perfect man, unto the measure and stature of the FULLNESS OF CHRIST.
Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be FILLED WITH ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD.
Which is his body, the FULLNESS of him that filleth all in all.
Colossians 1:29 For in him dwelleth all the FULLNESS of the Godhead bodily.
Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery...CHRIST IN YOU....
John 3:13 No man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven (CHRIST IN YOU).
It might be possible that they were referring to Revelation 19:8 that says we, as His bride, will be clothed in white, fine linen. But without knowing the context of their speech, it would be hard to know why they said that?
As Brother Jesse said I believe a verse to consider is Revelation 19:8.
Garments is often used as an idiom for our righteousness. In Revelation the Lord clothes us with Revelation 3:4-5. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Revelation 3:18. I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
The Lord clothes us with his righteousness.
Our righteousness is as filthy rags
Isaiah 64:6. But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Our effort to cleanse our self apart from Chist is as filthy rags.
Thank You!
