It is extremely important that we don't misuse or alter the Word of God . Genesis Ch2 V16&17 . In the KJV RV thou shalt surely die is translated as : dying thou shalt die , this is worthy of investigation but it's not where I'm going right now . Then we go to Ch3 V3 ,Eve's response : neither shall ye touch it , lest ye die . Why did Eve believe this to be so ? Adam must have said this to her , he added to God's word , when Eve touched the fruit and didn't die that must have made her doubt what Adam had said to her , God didn't tell Eve not to eat the fruit or touch it ,Adam did and he added to God's Word ,therefore giving the serpent a foot in the door to beguile Eve , when we misuse the Word of God we can give occasion to the serpent , to beguile others and maybe even ourselves . What would the world be like now if Adam hadn't said to Eve : neither shall ye touch it , lest ye die ? It's an earth changing moment . Later on in V12 of Ch3 ,Adam has the affrontary to try and blame God for creating Eve ! Eve in V13 gives a straight forward and honest account of what happened and her confession is an honest one .

    Take no thought,

Scripture does not tell us who told Eve, at that time Eve did not even have a name, just woman. It is clear she knew about the tree from what she said. Since God said it was not good that Adam was alone, Eve was made as Adam's helpmeet, maybe that put it Adam's responsibility she knew, but scripture does not tell us. But maybe does not make truth.

Your question what would the world be if? This was Gods plan from before the world was. Adam was a figure of Him (Jesus) to come, it would not have changed the world, for it was God's plan. The first part of your post about surely die, that God and the serpent said, vs just die, that Eve said, may show and answer more if studied. Physical, spiritual, or eternal?

God bless, and may our eyes and ears be open to the Holy Spirit.

1 Timothy 2:14. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. I believe the issue with them was them Knowing that they were naked. " SIN EXPOSED " " " "UNCOVERD." But that's a separate Issue.

    Dear "Take no thought,"

Which one was deceived, Adam or Eve?
  • Dianne - In Reply - 3 years ago
Jesse I noted you research original language usage, a very inspiring piece of work is E.W. Bullingers Figures of speech in the Bible. Remarkable detail he outlines over 400 used in scripture.
  • Jesse - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Dianne,

I have never read anything from E.W. Bullinger. I looked online and noticed there are a few free PDF downloads of his material. I'll take a look (Lord willing), thanks for sharing that. As far as researching the original language (Koine Greek), I've learned to read Greek. I own a Greek New Testament (Textus Receptus) and I read from it from time to time the same as I would read English.

Now, I don't understand every single word, but I don't understand every English word either! But thanks to Brother Chris, my English vocabulary has expanded, and I have to thank him for that. But unlike Hebrew and English, Greek is such an exact language. It is almost impossible to come up with more than one meaning on what the text is saying. I think God knew what He was doing when He chose that language for the teaching and doctrine section of the Bible (NT).

I wish it were a requirement for everyone going into the ministry to have a thorough knowledge of the Greek language. I think we wouldn't be in the mess we're in today if that were the case. As I said, English is such a general language and that's why there are so many denominations, it's people cannot agree on what their English Bibles are saying because it's a general language and words can have multiple meanings. But not so with the Greek.

I love reading and studying Greek. It has helped me tremendously in my understanding of what the English text is saying. I have a ways to go, and I don't claim any special knowledge or understanding over anyone else. I'm just saying that learning the language has been a blessing to me in my study.

Hi Jesse from my little research of scripture the Bible was translated from Greek Hebrew and Estrangelo Aramaic, so its an understatement to say that the translators did a phenomenal work in giving us what we have. It's very interesting research.

Jesse I apologize for my reply thought it through answer is Eve.
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Take no thought.

You said " Adam must have said this to her , he added to God's word "

Where did you find scripture of Adam telling this to Eve?

If there is none then you are adding to Gods word. And I'm sure God spoke to Eve as well as Adam.
  • Take no thought - In Reply - 3 years ago
S Spenser , I think maybe I used too many words in order to get my point across , my point is that adding to God's words and thereby creating doubt and uncertainty ,gave the serpent (sin in the flesh ,disobedience to God's simple commandment ) , a foot in the door and he was able to lead Eve astray . I hope I made myself clear this time , sorry for any confusion .

    Hi Take no thought.

Take no thought is it alright if I call you TNT for short? lol

I Understand, I agree adding to scripture or not considering scripture to shape ones theology hi a issue.

    God bless.
  • Take no thought - In Reply - 3 years ago
S Spenser , I'm so glad you understand ,for me it's a very important principle , I wish ever one could see how important it is . It's ok to toss ideas around in your head , to think things over and try to see beyond the words to take on the bigger picture but ultimately the words must be.....the final word .

Why do people tout their man made doctrines, keep them close to their heart as if they meant something? Even when scripture proves them wrong, they still think they're wight. It's not my burden to reform wayward sheep.
  • Dianne - In Reply - 3 years ago
Samuel sir A statement I heard a long time ago that fits pretty good even in my life on occasion, a man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still. Here's something I was shown in the word that's incredible. The apostle Paul in the book of acts in chapter 20:22-24 he's going to jerusalem but it say he's bound by the spirit, it appears to say Gods telling him to go now look at context, Chapter 21:1-4 Verse 4 other believers said to paul through the spirit not to go to Jerusalem. Further down 21:10-12 then it got to the point Paul in verse 13 I'm going no matter what verse 14 they stopped begging Paul not to Go. I believe this is an example of where a believer in his heart believes He's doing the right thing and be dead wrong. Paul almost lost His life, but as with us God Covered.

    Genesis

    Chapter 3

1 Now the serpent was more subtil (deceitful) than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, HATH GOD SAID, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden???

2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, GOD HATH SAID, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: (HE LIED)

5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

SATAN WAS AFTER ADAM'S MANDATE. "As First Adam."

Comment: Satan caused pride to raise its head. Eve desired to be like God. Adam loved Eve very much: they were One. He ate too, but not for the same reason.

Adam lost the Mandate. In Genesis 3:15 we see that in the process of many generations, Jesus would be born. The Son of Man. He was 2nd Adam.

On the day Jesus was crucified, HE TOOK BACK THE DEED TO THE EARTH. He Took captivity Captive, and took the keys of death, hell and the grave away from Satan. He completed the first Covenant. He RATIFIED THE 2nd Covenant with HIS OWN SINLESS BLOOD. He made us eligible to be born again. We have to ask for it.

As we see with Adam and Eve: Satan does not have power over us, unless we give it to him. Only the blood of Jesus can give us the power to resist sin. How? By being Born Again. John 3

    And John 17.

I hope this helps you. Mishael

  • First Adam and Second Adam Jesus - In Reply - 3 years ago
The First Adam, and The Second Adam Scriptures

    1 Corinthians 15:22

For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

    1 Corinthians 15:45

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. (Jesus)

    1 Corinthians 15:47

The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

    Hebrews 10

9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

10 By the which, will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Please show me where it says that God said : neither shall ye touch it lest ye die . You won't be able to find it because it isn't there , Eve believes that this is what God said ,she quotes it as what Adam told her , and because of this miscommunication the serpent sneaks in and takes advantage of the situation .Man mishandled the word of God and it gave occasion to sin , that's how the Bible begins , man mishandling the word of God and the Bible ends with a warning for us ,not to do the same , can you see that connection ? Any one who thinks it's ok to add to or subtract from the word of God is in very serious trouble . I'm very sorry if no one on here gets that .
  • Dianne - In Reply - 3 years ago
Take no thought God didn't say neither shall ye touch it,those were the words of the serpent Gen 3:3.
  • Mishael - In Reply - 3 years ago
I did show it. Those are the scriptures as is, in a King James Bible. Eve replied to what Satan said, perfectly. And then she ate of the fruit; and gave some to her husband, Adam.

Rather than believe what God said, she listened to Satan and the lust of her own heart.

Jesse My apology bro wrong direction.
  • Dianne - In Reply - 3 years ago
Take no thought Eves downfall with the serpent was she never responded with it is written. The enemy got het to consider what he said then add to then subtract from then question then changed it From thou shalt surely die to thou shall not surely die total opposite of what God said. Then she gave to Adam, whats interesting God blamed the serpent but then told Adam and Eve because you disobeyed me you going to suffer. We have ever since

what does it mean that Yahushua was the second Adam?
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Hi Jesus Ortiz.

God's goal for man was fulfilled in Jesus. That is the reason He is called the "last Adam"-the first Adam failed so miserably. The Lord Jesus is also called the "second man," not the last man. God sent Him into the world to become a man, and He is the second one, because after Adam it says, "And Adam begot a son in his likeness." He was a sinner; and ever since, Adams have been sinners. All of us are Adams.

We come into this world as children of Adam. When we are born again we become children of God.

1 Corinthians 15:45-49. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

    We've been Justified,

    We're beeing sanctified.

    One day we'll Glorified.

    I Hope that helps.

    God bless.

    no it really doesn't help.

scripture says that Adam was a type of Him that was to come, and Yahuhuah was the second one of a kind so when were Adam and Yahushua the same?
  • Glenn - In Reply - 3 years ago
No ,.. on the eight day, he created eth-Hoth-Adam ,.. a farmer , to till the ground, a blood line for Jesus ( Emanuel). Meaning God with us ,.. an when satin ( the tree of good sn evil ). Seduced eve , an she became pregnant, God's first prophecy, genius 3 - 15 , he put enmity between thee an the woman ,.. an between thy seed an her seed , it shall bruise thy head , an tho shall bruise his heel ,.. Now we've seen the heel bruise ,.. That head bruise , is next !!!!

I am sorry but your reply has no scriptural references that I know of. Could you enlighten me?
  • Jesus ortiz - In Reply - 3 years ago
Can some one tell me how Adam was a type of Him that was to come? and Yahushuah was the second Adam? please don't say that because they are each the first of a kind i.e. By Adam came sin and death and Yahushuah brought righteousness and life. because that does not make them the same but rather it makes them the opposite. If anything it makes Adam anti-Christ. HOW AND WHEN WERE THEY ALIKE?
  • Jesus ortiz - In Reply - 3 years ago
Sorry but that makes no scriptural sense
  • Dianne - In Reply - 3 years ago
Jesus Both Jesus Christ and Adam had body soul and spirit, Adam in Genesis lost his Spiritual connection with God I.E. sin went against Gods word, Jesus Christ known as the second Adam from heaven because God created life in mary to conceive and give birth to him. Jesus Christ never sinned or went against Gods word so everything he did was spiritually perfect. He bought back mans lost spiritual connection with God. God Bless
  • Jesus ortiz - In Reply - 3 years ago
sounds good but could you elaborate please. I feel that it is vital for us to grasp the fact that He was the second Adam
  • Dianne - In Reply - 3 years ago
Jesus Whats important to grasp is what was accomplished jesus Christ, read Romans chapter 5-8 you'll get an idea of what was accomplished by his sacrifice and resurrection. Even I would like to grasp more than I do. God Bless
