Where or what is heaven in the bible?
  • Glenn - In Reply - 3 years ago
Heaven, is where ever God is , currently, we have two sides for those who pass in the flesh , sn it's our Father's decision to which side you go to , till all souls have had a chance to be born of flesh , one side for the good , one side for the not so good , with a gulf in the middle that you cannot pass ,.. seek the story of lazeris an the rich man ,..

David I will show you what the scriptures say then it's up to you. Genesis 1:6+7 talks about the firmament and where it was and what it divided, verse 8 God called the firmament heaven [the word firmament is expanse raqia and the word heaven is the word shamayim which means heaved or raised up things] when you read from verse 8 to verse 14-17 anything above earth is called heaven according to what God is saying in Genesis I.E. entire solar system and beyond basically space. The word Firmament is used primarily in Genesis all in chapter one from verse 6 to 20 and even calls the sky firmament the rest of the usage of firmament are in Psalms 2 Times Ezekiel 5 Times Daniel once. Prayerfully this helps.

David, it depends on where and how it is used in scripture. Metaphorically or Spiritually? The Heb. meaning is simply "heights" the Jewish belief is a 3-part: (A) the firmament, Gen.2:19, 7:3,23, Ps. 8:8, (B) "the starry heavens", Duet. 17:3, Jer.8:2, Matt. 24:29, and (C) "the heavens of heavens or the 3rd heaven", Duet. 10:4, 1 Kings 8(or) 6 (forgive me I can't remember) somewhere around verse 25-27, Ps. 115:16, 148:4, and Paul mentions it in 2 Cor. 12:2. Another def. is: a future dwelling place for the righteous. Hope this helped. God Bless.
