WHY DO YOU.......gamble . When I was a child my grandad used to bet on the horses . He only ever bet pennies , literally pennies . Which also meant that if he ever won he only ever won pennies ! I asked him about it and he said he only gambled to make the race a bit more exciting for himself . I understand that . So , if you are a Christian and you only gamble for a bit of excitement does that mean that when you win you give all your winnings to a charity ? I know a few Christians who gamble , it's not really any of my business so I keep quiet . However , I can't help wondering why ? Proverbs ch30 v7-9 . I have to wonder if these Christians have read that . Or Luke ch12 v13-34 . Have they read that ? Phillipians ch4 v11 ? Hebrews Ch 13 v5 ? . I don't understand how any one can read the Bible and be in any doubt at all about what God and Jesus think of money and how They expect us to behave with regard to money . I used to love roulette . I would never do the lottery because I am genuinely afraid of what would happen to me if I won . What would I spend all that money on ? Necessaries ? Or luxuries ? Things I really need to exist ? Or stuff that I just want because I like it . Money changes lives . A local lottery winner here bought his teenage son a quad bike . This young man is in a coma because he crashed . His dad is distraught and feels responsible . Money changes your life and the way people behave towards you . If you are suffering a genuine need pray to God for help , ask your church or your family , get another job , cut back in some way , don't gamble . Trust in the Lord with all thy heart and lean not unto thine own understanding . He will help you .

Hi Adam My thinking is when God tells you to do it there is no risk because everything from him is profitable James 1:17, believing God is no Gamble. That being said I understand your point. In His Service.

Hello, what is your definition of gambling? Taking a financial risk in hope for a more desirable outcome? Do you invest in the stock market? That's gambling. Keep cash in a low interest savings account? That's taking a gamble that inflation rates don't erode the value of the currency and that the bank doesn't go out of business. Do you have health insurance? That's gambling that it will cost you less having it than not having it. Run a business? Gambling that you'll earn more money than you spend. Lots of verses support financial responsibility, but nothing is without risk. Even doing nothing with money is a risk, because most lose value to inflation. I think gambling extends beyond money too to holding 'assets' or any kind of trading, because it's all subject to risk and an uncertain future outcome. Jesus's parable of the talents supports financial responsibility and being proactive despite risk. There are other verses supporting this too. Christian financial educators like Dave Ramsey feel they have lots of Biblical support for being financially responsible. God bless.
