  • Question on Hebrews 4:11 - 3 years ago
Can anyone shed light on Hebrews 4:11, where Paul says, "Let us labor, therefore to enter into that rest" how to labor in this way, without falling into "works consciousness." Is it us laboring? or God laboring in us? Is God's laboring felt or known by human faculties? Thank you.

Question on Hebrews 4:11 Another aspect of our rest in believing is in Philippians 4:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. The more we walk in Him the more he works in us. We need to be as committed in our faithful walk as our brother Jesus Christ that's the rest. Walking by the spirit is more inspiration than perspiration. In His Service

Question Hebrews 4:11 Context is in regards to believing consistently in the accomplished work of Christ, the Children of Israel even though God showed them incredible signs of His power they kept disobeying because of their unbelief, therefore an entire generation fell in the wilderness due to unbelief. When we believe with consistency that God will meet our needs by everything accomplished in Christ we can no pun intended rest assured that all our needs will be met. Philippians 4:19 But my God Shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I put it simply Let Go and Let God. In His Service

At the point of salvation, we enter into God's rest. It starts back at verse 1 talking about God's rest. When we get to verse 10, the writer is going back to creation. He's saying if you surrender to Christ, you will be doing just what God did. You will cease from your own works, your own efforts, at your own salvation, you will cease from your own works, and you will enter into God's rest.

In verse 11, the writer says, Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, and it's as though he's asking the question, do we want to put a focus on something? Have we entered into that rest? Have we received all that Christ has done for us? And have we surrendered to Him?

Lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief, fall short of that.

All good questions Brother Jesse! So how do we know? A Christian at rest in Peace will have a peaceable Spirit and the Grace to go back and make needed corrections when that Peace diminishes. A possible stirring inside one's heart is that Grace to make amends with Man as much as possible and with God so that we remain reconciled by His Peace and our rest in that peace.

Carleton In the scriptures Romans 5:1 Therefore we have been justified by faith we have peace with God through our lord Jesus Christ as long as we are faithful in our walk. I don't see losing the peace of God spiritually but if we get caught up in the things of the world we will lose the effectiveness or fruits of that peace of God.

We have the righteousness of God also we have been redeemed or bought back and we are sanctified or set apart but again if an individual chooses not to change than what he's been given is of no effect.

The work of the walk is an individuals mindset to the word, and the choice to do it Gods way. Most christians do a pick and choose why because it fits what they like. The idea is to Let Go and Let God. Just some of my observations In His Service

Carleton Brother when we are born again we have Peace with God Romans 5:1 through what Jesus Christ accomplished we became sons or daughters of the most High spiritually why would you not have great peace with that.

You ask how do we know I know because It Is Written! to question this is like questioning if your righteous if your justified if your sanctified and the answer to all is ABSOLUTELY that is what was accomplished by Jesus Christ. In 2 Corinthians 5:20 Gods Word says we are Ambassadors for Christ, in 5:19 it says we have been given the ministry of reconciling men back to God. Either we believe the completeness of what was done and act accordingly or we stagnate in thinking this is too good to be true. I'll stick with believing. In His Service

Hello Brother Rick, We never knew what peace and rest were until that born again moment. Peace was always evasive until that moment of repentance and forgiveness by the Holy Ghost at Calvary. Now we carry that peace with us as lambs if we remain faithful to the calling. We know when that peace diminishes yet like a well trained horse for the smallest needed change in direction in order to keep His peace we will gently heed. A blessing of sanctification really and a witness to the thirsty.
