I need help with analyzing the cross over from Judaism to Christianity. How do they really compliment and connect. Additionally, how do they divide from each other.
Robert Rogers That's like oil on water, Judaism still believes in doing the over 400 laws in the old testament to be righteous for God for sin committed.
Christianity paid for by Jesus Christ accepting what was accomplished by God through Him which was actually fulfilling the law of Love. Gods love Mathew Love God with all your heart soul mind and strength and thy neighbor as thyself. Can't be done without being born again and walking by the spirit better known as agapeo in the church epistles.
7. Know ye therefore that they which are of FAITH, the same are the children of Abraham.
8. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify THE HEATHEN through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall ALL NATIONS be blessed. [Jews and Gentiles]
22. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them THAT BELIEVE.
23. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24. Wherefore the THE LAW [Moses] was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26. For ye are all the children of God BY FAITH in Christ Jesus.
27. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28. There is neither JEW NOR GREEK, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all ONE in Christ Jesus.
29. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
If you will search the scriptures in the New Testament on, THE ELECTION, you will learn that by going to the Cross, Jesus RATIFIED (put in force, as in Legal) the New Covenant.
The Old Covenant was torn (in the Temple) from bottom to the top. The veil was enormous, and only God could've done that.
We await for the TIMES OF THE GENTILES to be completed. We're close! It has been almost 3000 years.
Mishael comment: I believe that when the New Testament believers are 'caught up in the clouds' by Jesus;
The ELECTION will pass back over to the Jews.
The sudden absence of the Jewish believers in Jesus Christ, will show the Jews left behind that Jesus was indeed, the MESSIAH they had anticipated for thousands of years!
Scales on eyes and ears will fall off. They will experience the Election.
Some will stoically cling to disbelief. they will suffer for it.
When it comes to salvation, Judaism and Christianity are in opposition to each other. I'm not sure that they complement each other at all. One is salvation through keeping the law (Judaism), and the other is salvation by grace (Christianity).
A great study on the difference between the law and grace would be Galatians. It was written because false teachers attacked Paul's ministry and message that salvation was through grace alone, without the deeds of the law.
The Judaizers professed to be believers in Jesus as Messiah. Their doctrinal approach was that the Gentiles were not in a position of Sons of the Covenant to receive the promises of God until they became Jews and they followed the Law. The first law they said that Gentiles must keep is circumcision.
The form of the letter of Galatians was different from all of the other letters written by Paul. It's the only letter not containing a commendation. Paul did not commend the Jewish believers in Galatia because they were mixing law with grace. It is the only letter written by Paul that's addressed to more than one church.
Galatians is a very important book that gives us the difference between Judaism and keeping the law, verses Christianity, salvation by grace alone, through Christ alone, apart from the law.
Galatians is a shorter version of Romans. Romans is considered the Constitution of the Christian Faith. If we only had the book of Romans, we would have everything we need to know about the Christian faith. Galatians is considered to be the Declaration of Independence of the Christian Faith. Our independence and freedom comes through Christ, not the keeping of the law.
Back then, when a Jew would crossover from Judaism to Christianity, it would cost them dearly. Their family would disown them, they would lose their job, and they would not be allowed in their own temple. They would be persecuted. It was as though they were dead to their fellow Jews. It's not much different today!
