This means that the Shunammite woman had nothing special to request from the higher powers of the land, as she was self-sufficient, living among her own people who would readily provide for her, if the need arose. Yet, Elisha pursued his desire to give her something for the hospitality she offered him & Gehazi. And so she, in due time, gave birth to a son. And you know the story from there.
