I do not think that Isaac was a carnal believer as you say. He sinned, like Adam and Eve, like Noah, like Abraham, and everyone else who has ever lived. Christians sin,, this does not make them carnal believers. I didn't know Isaac personally, so I can not make such a determination about him like you did. God worked through Isaac, appeared to him, spoke with him, and blessed him greatly. I see no indication in the scripture that indicates that God was displeased with Isaac.
