    please explain Collosians 3:15
  • Rick - In Reply - 3 years ago
Good Morning Laverne When we confess Romans 10:9+10 we are born again of Gods Spirit and at that time we become spiritually His child and we have the Peace of God John 14:27 which passes all understanding.

If we don't endeavor to build Gods Word and walk by the spirit the cares of this world will effect our peace, and let the peace of God rule this means[to be president or dominate all decisions] to which ye are called and be thankful[ in everything]. The more we renew our minds to scripture the more we let Gods Word dominate our thoughts we will develop the fruits of the spirit, love joy [peace] longsuffering meekness temperance against such is no law. This is not automatic its happens over time. Prayerfully this helps.

    Laverne,

Colossians 3:15 starts out by saying "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts." Please notice that all this comes under "put on the new life." If you're saved and Christ is in you, it's a matter of deciding what way you're going to go. We're to let the peace of God rule in our hearts.

Romans 5:1 says that after having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. That's positional. We always have peace with God, but we don't always experience the peace of God. We are no longer His enemy. We are at peace with Him.

    But we're told to let the peace of God rule in our hearts, to the which also you are called in one body;

The word peace, EIRENE in Greek means to be united. The peace of Christ, and the peace of God, it just means to be at one with Him. When I'm under the influence of God's Spirit, the unity that's already existing flows from one believer to the other in one body.

The next command: and be ye thankful. That's not a human practice. That also is a ministry of God's Spirit. It's part of the new life. Just put it on!

Yes, united. We are reconciled to God; peace has been made between us and God through Christ, whereas before we we saved, we were separated from God; in opposition of God, and under the bondage of sin, which accused us and would not allow us to have peace.

Also, in Jon 14:27, Jesus, at the Last Supper, said to the apostles tat he was giving them His peace and that He was leaving His peace with them, knowing He would die, rise, and ascend to heaven soon. The Holy Spirit effects our Lord's peace in our hearts when He regenerates us and unites us to God. Jesus also said that His peace is different than the peace the world offers. It is the result of something the world could not effect, reconciling us to God. It is through Jesus, our Prince of Peace, that we rest in the peace of coming to God for and being freed from the bondage of sin, therefore, no longer having the condemnation of our sinful nature causing us distress. Hallelujah!

    Amen and Amen, Brother Jesse!

    Thank you Earl,

I also concur with what Rick has presented. He makes a great point about the "cares of this world" affecting our peace. This comes from the word MERIMNA which is the only weapon Satan uses against us. The words care, anxiety, worry, and stress all come from this word. Once we surrender our lives to Christ, the next step is to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Satan knows he has lost us forever to Christ. He knows he can't take us away, so what does he do? He chases us, pursues us (DIOKO) in order to tire us out and make us want to give up. He keeps our minds occupied and distracted with the cares of this life in order to stunt our growth process in Christ Jesus. He can't take our salvation from us, but he can hinder our growth process!

Jesse Good stuff that unfortunately most believers don't believe, to me that's n]make false move and your no good again

    but that's my head.

Hi Jesse I view walking by the spirit as literally a step by step day by day decision to focus on walking on what we have

    been given

by the grace of God and not turning back to look at the past at all. Dwelling on the past, nope can't change that, thinking your not good enough nope we are the righteousness of God In Christ Jesus. Looking in a mirror And judging yourself by what you see nope in Gods eyes we are complete in Him. Got bills to pay economies not doing good nope my God shall supply all your need. Gotta buy new car and go into debt to look good nope trick of the enemy to put you in debt.

Pleasing everybody but compromising a little bit nope Love God with all our Heart Soul Mind and Strength and Love your Neighbor as Yourself We will never do it perfectly but the journey is tremendous joy and rewards will be beyond our thinking. Just some stuff.

    Amen Brother Jesse, thank you.

The Spirit has revealed these things to me, as it has to you. Satan, by the Spirit Of God has been cast out ( Matthew 12:28) of me. I have nothing but peace and assurance.

Our labour of love is to bring this KNOWLEDGE to others.
