Dose the "Firmament" include space ?...are we allowed to enter "Deep Space""..or is it all lies ..like we have been told to some extent ?..I have always been curious about the "Truth" of the "Firmament"..any answers ..I will apreciate..Thank you.. :)

Good morning Catherine In addition to what was shared since the earth is the center of Gods Creation

and since Gods man was supposed to enjoy His creation from earth then there would be absolutely no biblical

reason to go to another planet when man driven by greed and lust has messed this one up. Besides they will

not find any other inhabitable planet like earth because earth is a miracle of the God that designed it.

Hi Catherine In edition to what Chris shared the firmament biblically is also starting in verse 8 heaven and this word

is shamayim[which means heaved or things lifted up]. so all things above the service of the earth are in the

expanse or firmament heaven. Somethings else that has been found beyond the stars they have found large balls

of water as big as planets which proves verse 6, kinda neat.

Hello Catherine. Yes, 'firmament' includes 'space'. In fact, firmament is all the space (sky & universe) above us reaching into deep space with the stars & planets. In Genesis chapter 1, God had created a firmament to separate the "waters from the waters", but that was probably a special event for the purposes of watering the Earth & high humidity levels at that time in history. Otherwise, the Hebrew word for firmament (rakia), means 'an expanse, or an extended surface', which includes deep space where God placed the planetary & stellar systems ( Genesis 1:14-18).

"Are we allowed to enter Deep Space", you ask. Of course, the Bible does not declare an answer to that question as it was clearly an impossible thought then & through most of the centuries since. People have always been divided on whether man should endeavour to leave Earth's habitation & venture & explore (even inhabit) other worlds. My sense is that God has placed us on the Earth He has prepared for us & all other worlds out there are hostile environments in every way, unfit for human life. Therefore, I fear that it may become man's undoing in his quest (or, lust) to reach out further than what was assigned to him.

    Chris,

Thank you again for your wise statements. Genesis says that God created the "great lights" in the firmament, referring to the Sun, Moon, stars, planets, galaxies. This is outer space, outside of our atmosphere.

I, too, believe it is folly to explore outer space. God said in His word, that He determined that earth is where He placed man to dwell.

I do find astronomy so interesting. It makes me marvel at the power and wisdom of God. I do not oppose the sending of satellites or space probes like Hubbel, etc. But I think it is very questionable for man to seek to travel into space or to try to live anywhere else but earth. Now countries are concentrating on making space weapons. I don not think that these efforts will, in the end, help mankind, nor allow man to avoid the reckoning that God will bring to the earth in the end.
