    Matthew 19:19

"Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

You can ask them in love if its possible to pay it back via installments ?

Hi John. No, I don't believe it's right to borrow from your parents, or anyone else, & not pay them back. It can be correct to do so if in the course of that thing being in your possession, that the lender instructs you to not return it back to them. Or, if you do return it & they then give it back to you to keep.

I had one instance of this many years ago; a poor man urgently needed a small amount of money to pay a debt. I knew it was a small amount so even if he defaulted in repaying it, I wouldn't have lost much. After a couple of months, he came back to me with the amount he borrowed, which he had put a little aside from a few week's worth of wages. He was happy to have come back to return the money & I appreciated this poor man's honesty & integrity to do so. He could have easily disappeared from the scene. I thanked him, shook his hand, took the money & then gave the money back to him as a gift. I lost nothing by doing this but wanted him to know that by being upright & honest in his dealings, maybe blessings will sometimes come.

Parents might easily forgive their child's debt to them if the child fails to return the thing lent, but the child will gain more by learning to do the right thing & the parents no doubt will be so happy that their son has indeed learned a valuable lesson as a result of their training him.

    Thanks Chris,

I agree. Practicing trustworthiness in our dealings with one another is important. God blesses those who are honest. Those who take advantage of others, borrowing without intending to pay is just stealing from others by a different "name".

As believers, we should care about having a personal integrity that reflects the character of Christ whether we are the borrower or the lender.

Dear John, no is not, Children should not take things for granted, nor should parents. But is it a big dept. it is the parents' duty to provide good conditions. Not like the public bank.

Ill personally will give anything who is good for my Children.

God bless and remember John 1:48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

    Love u in Jesus Christ.
