If Joash died in verse 13 and Elisha died in verse 14, how is Elisha talking to Joash in Verse 14 ? Can someone explain this?
13 And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14 Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
15 And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
1st The Bible isn't written in our translations in chronological order. I noticed significant situations like that in Daniel & Ezekiel, while studying recently. It takes really getting into the WORD in deep study to get amazing revelations of dates, related events, truly significant events & people that affected much. 2 Timothy 2:15,
2 Kings 13:1 - 23rd year of Joash._.Jehoahaz begins reign +17 yrs, total for reign) over Israel in Samaria, 2 Kings 13:9 begins Joash son of Jehoahaz, Israel in Samaria) reign, 2 Kings 3:10 *37 th yr of (Joash, King of Judah ) so here the scripture purposeful shows 3 yrs difference in the dates. But search, math reasoning gets us there. I believe you noticed these because you're very observant & the HOLY Spirit may be teaching you.
Joash stil reigning in 37th year, over Judah, Jehoahaz in final three years of reign, as per vrs 1., like King Solomon appointed King as son while King David is still King & alive. 2 Kings 13:10 clarifies reign with the 'eh' in name interesting names in Bible have variations due to translation like Elijah from Old to New Tstmt. However GOD is Awesome with details to clarify who, by those. I've even wondered if there were two sons of Jehoahaz, 2 Kings 13:12 clarifies fought Amaziah King of Judah (son Joash) , 2 Kings 13:13 buried with Kings of Israel (not Judah) 1611 Version has marker at beginning vrs 14. Showing significant difference in paragraph or page, translater notes to start new thought/or similar) it states He died of his sickness, stating he wouldn't survive it. He was visiting Elisha in his last days, weeping. Amazingly GOD has this account for all who doubt the Power of GOD & HIS annointing. 2 Kings 13:20-21, Note vrs 22, jumps back again. 2 Kings 12:20-21, 2 Kings 13:12, 2 Kings 12:19, 2 Kings 14:1-3,
Hopefully these are helpful, the other details around the names help us study & really understand.
