I am considering reading the Bible in a year, starting January 1, 2022. If I start reading for a year from your site, will it start with the book of Genesis? I was initially thinking of starting with the book of Genesis to Revelation. What is the best way to get a better understanding of reading the Bible? I have tried to read the entire Bible, but never met that goal. I will be reading KJV.

    Hi Donna,

I came to this site a month or so ago to begin in Genesis. I completed it a week or so ago. I am going to begin Exodus beginning January 1st. So, we will be pretty current to one another in our study. That may be helpful to us! If you wish we can kind of keep in touch with each other as you go through Genesis. If you wish to go on to Exodus, then we can keep in touch for that, too.

I found it helpful to read the passage and to read the commentary and then to read all comments before I added a post.

Once I started at Genesis, Psalms & Matthew reading in those 3. It was amazing the revelation revealed while reading old & New Testament together especially when one chapter like Psalms 22, & Luke 23,

It could have been better structured however. Maybe start with ,

    Genesis, John ,

    Exodus, Joshua, Hebrews,

Hosea, Song of Solomon, Ruth, Job, Tobit,

Psalms, Luke, just keep markers in each place, when jumping around.

    Judges

    1 Samuel, 1 Chronicles, 1 Kings, 1 Esdras, 2 Esdras,

2 Samuel, 2 Chronicles, 2 Kings, Ecclesiastes, Lamentations,

Letter of Jeremiah, Baruch, Judith, Prayer of Manasses,

    Deuteronomy, Susanna,

Daniel, Esther, Ezekiel, Revelations, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, Matthew, Jude,

Additions to Esther, Haggai, Obadiah, Nehemiah, Ezra, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah,

Jonah, 1 Maccabees, 2 Maccabees, Bel and the Dragon,

    Joel, Amos, Micha, Malachi

    Proverbs, Ecclesiastcus, Wisdom of Solomon,

Zechariah, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Mark, Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians,

    Galatians, Colossians, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John, 1 Peter, 2 Peter,

    Titus, Philemon, James, Philippians

    Hopefully this is helpful.

Wow ! ..I like your Idea.Pastor St. Greg Fraser... I'm gonna start doing Bible study this way..I have regular Bible study with one of the Sisters at my Church..but she has a family and a job..so I have to wait for her to have enough time..which I do very much understand ..so I'm on my own alot of the time with my Bible and need structure..there is a "Yearly reading plan for every day of the year"..and I have started that too.. but I guess I'm wanting to read more scripture ..and some of the words I don't understand the meaning to.. so I'm writing them down along with what book and chapter and verse, I read in (and don't understand) ..and I did see there's a KJV..Concordance in the very back of my Bible..that helps some of the time..but not all the time...I found "Smite" ..but not "Smote" ..trying to learn the language ..and meanings..of Jesus's word.

    Thank you

    Cathi (Catherine) :)

The best way to read the bible is with the Holy Ghost.

Pray to the Lord for wisdom and understanding. Since I did the same I can understand everything so much better.

You dont need a plan to read the bible, you need to plan to read the bible everyday !

Its the word of God ! Devour it !
