    Hi Janice Everything in Gods Word has significance there fore the number 40 represents a period of trial

    chastisement purification and renewal of life I.E. Jesus Christ 40 day and nights wilderness

    children of Israel 40 years in wilderness of sin 40 days between resurrection and ascension

    of Jesus Christ,40 days 40 days and nights flood of noah, Moses was 40 years in Egypt

    this number is mentioned 157 times in the bible and is a fun study in and of Itself.
