This all probably began at the tower of Babel but could have been occurring prior to the flood.
Noah's descendant, Nimrod was worshipped as a sun god and his wife, Semiramis was worshipped as the queen if heaven. When he died she claimed to be impregnated by the rays of the sun. There child is Tammuz she claimed he was her husband come back to life.
In Ezekeil it describes a vision of women weeping over Tammuz and men having their backs toward the temple while worshipping the sun.
This is the worship of false gods, goddesses and sun god worship.
God calls these abominations He loathes them. Semiramis was considered the queen heaven and Tammuz was thought to be the reincarnated son of god, of his father Nimrod (Baal).
These pagans observed all these satanic rituals to appease their false gods.
These rituals involved sexual immorality, perversions, human sacrifice mostly children.
These pagan rituals is where we get most of our modern man made traditions of today.
The cakes that were baked to honor the queen of heaven were made round in the shape of the moon and they would put something on them (probably not candles) to make them glow, thus our tradition of b-day cakes.
Al this done under green trees( our modern day christmas tree) and these rituals involved every other abomination known to man they were committing
I think that Satan is very wiley and has promoted these beliefs in a queen of heaven and a child, and other beliefs such as Isis, Osiris, and Horus and the resurrecting god, etc. to be an imitation of the real plan of God and draw as many away from the true God as possible. But we as Christians bring the truth to bear on these false belies and shine the light of truth to expose their darkness.
Even so, I don't think we really know just how these ancient people practiced their rituals or beliefs, so I don't think that having a birthday cake or a Christmas tree equates to these rituals.

Jeremiah 7: 18-(31)
1:20; 3:6, 1
Ezekiel 8:14; 16: 20; 36; 23:36-((37)39
repackaging so it doesn't appear bad or wrong in many categories. There is a record in the old testament when God
gave the order to take over Jericho in chapter 6:17+18 not to take the accursed things. In Chapter 7 one man
in Israel took 1 Item Idolatrous and until they got rid of it Israel paid by losing Gods protection until they got
rid of it and the Entire family that brought it and stoned and burned them then we read chapter 7:26 and they
raised a heap of stones over it and the lord turned His wrath away from Israel. Bottom line is endeavor not to
get involved with idolatrous practices in any way shape or form. Sincerity is no Guarantee for Spiritual Truth
The whole record is in Chapters 6+7 very enlightening spiritually when it comes to house cleaning spiritually!
