The name Cephas is from the Aramaic word kepha for rock or great boulder. The name Peter is from the Greek word petra, which also means rock. Peter is Aramaic Kepha for rock/stone. In Matthew 16:18 Jesus called Simon, Peter, and in John 1 and other New Testament books he is mentioned as Cephas. Simon's name in Hebrew meant listen or hearing, I would give the Greek meaning but that may start a debate. If you see Simon, Simon Peter, or Cephas it is the same man, one of the apostles of Jesus.
