Mabylissa - Herod sought to kill all children two years old and down, because he was uncertain who Jesus was, There are many of false conceptions of who Jesus was, but you can see here that Jesus as a young child, and was playing in the streets when the Wise men came, this is a good indication he was not born on December 25th and he was not a babe in a manger! Thus Herod was a man interested in killing his adversary, and he was king at the time. If you red it more careful you will also see he could identify the time by what the Wise men told him. One thing you should also know is Herod was a ruthless king, and killed all in his path, and was closely tied in to Rome.
