God bless you all There was a govenour Genral in Canada Spoke 6 diferent languages was an astronaut but as govenour genral was rude and unloving no longer holds the title. 1 Corinthians 13

Though i speak with tongues of men and of angels ,and have not charity,I am become as sounding brass,or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge;and though I have all faith,so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity,I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity,it proviteth me nothing.4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind;charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself,is not puffed up,5Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own.is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8Charity never faileth:but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail;whether there be tongues, they shall cease;whether there be knowledge,it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that is which is perfect is come.then that which is in part shall be done away.11When I was a child ,I spake as a child,I thought as a child;but when I became a man,I put away childish things.12 For now we see through a glass darkly;but then face to face:now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.13And now abideth faith, hope, charity;but greatest of these is charity.

Darnita One other point even in my life I've been to assembles where people were supposedly operating

other spiritual gifts but again so out of order and not lining up with scripture so me and my family just walked

out, no profit. Everything the true God does in an assembly or church should be decent and in order which is

why Paul spent 1 Corinthians chapters 12, 13 and 14 they had major confusion with matters of the Spirit.
  • Rick Mentzer - In Reply - 3 years ago
Darnita Acts 2 :4 and they the twelve apostles were all filled with the holy ghost and again began to speak in tongues as the spirit gave them the utterance. It says they began they did it by the ability given them hence as the spirit gave

them then they acted on what the spirit gave them. It's your operation of the God given ability, also the things of God

are to be done decent and in order which is the way God wants it. If its out of order red flags God is not the author of confusion. That is not to say that if someone does not speak in tongues there not born again and don't operate the spirit, I've seen both sides. Just showing you Gods Word, also in Acts 2:11 Gods Word says they were speaking the wonderworks of God. I didn't write the book. So do what believing God for.

    Darnita,

I have the Holy Spirit in me and I have never spoken in tongues. If I ever do, I hope it is in the same manner as first recorded at Pentecost, where God gives me the ability to speak fluently in a (known foreign language) that I do not speak, so that I might spread the gospel message to someone who wouldn't understand me otherwise in English!
  • What Ministry is. It chooses You. - In Reply - 3 years ago
John 3. You must be born again as to how Jesus explained.

Jesus is the only one who gives the Holy Spirit to the born again believers.

The Holy Spirit speaks of and teaches believers about Jesus Christ. If someone preaches it to you; the Holy Spirit alone confirms it with signs following.

He gives the gifts and operations AS HE WILLS.

As you read the New Testament you'll understand everything about the Gifts. Baby Christians must grow up in Christ first.

We must learn to obey the Known (Bible) Will of God.

Women as preachers and teachers must submit to Christ (It is his church), and sit under the Leadership of that Church. It's about obedience and Discipleship.

Personally, I've done all the gnarly jobs in a church without grouching. Why? Because I was doing it AS UNTO THE LORD. On my job at work; same thing. God is our Employer. If we can't do right by Him; we will not be promoted. I especially AVOIDED gossip and backbiting. It was hard at times because Satan drops by ever so often.

The Holy Spirit is the one who ANOINTS you to be in ministry. That's who you have to please with your progress. You'll be tested on resolve all along, by HIM. If you encounter a lot of spiritual warfare, ask the Holy Spirit for the Gift of: discerning the spirits. But first, learn what that is. YOU hit the books/Bible and learn from it. HE IS YOUR TEACHER.

If you want to see what a lady Preacher looks like. Watch some Iverna Tompkins on youtube.

We have to learn how to pray, seek God for fresh MANNA go his people. It's for us, and it's for them. We need to know and live in Matthew 25. Our priority is to Jesus and pointing His children in a better direction.

I'm happy for all those who do choose ministry.

  • Gigi - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Well said, Mishael

    We are HIS workmanship

So God is the boss of me and you

He directs us. We don't advise or tell Him what to do.

We pray and ask in our limited knowledge, but He always follows His good and perfect will. So, we should be humble and accept His answers, provisions, open or closed doors, wait and grow leading s.

I have exercised the gift of leading and teaching as well as the gifts of helps and service.

I am most comfortable with the latter, it definitely is a "safer" type of work than leading or teaching. But I step into whatever God places in front of me even if it is uncomfortable. There is growth in that as we allow the Spirit to work through us.

We may even find that we are better than we thought we could be at doing something that stretches us.

But humility and love is always the driving force in our service, always endeavor in to be a faithful, godly witness in all we are called to do in the church, our job, our home, and our family relationships

Darnita Scripturally it is the opposite you cannot speak in tongues unless you receive holy spirit or

power from on high, also it is the first display of manifested spiritual ability given by the spirit on the day of

pentecost and available to any Acts 10:26-46 any born again believer along with the other abilities of the spirit.

Remember it is a gift that you operate by the God given ability when needed.

God does not control us we operate the spirit as he allows by obeying his Word.
  • Free - In Reply - 3 years ago
Dear Darnita. If you start by believing in Jesus Christ. So believe that He is the Son of God. Dead and buried and rose again on the third day. That God the Father raised Him from the dead.

And confess it with your voice.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Do this search in the heart for faith? Do you have faith?

The day the Holy Spirit came to us, that day was a promise that the Comforter would come. Jesus promised it to his disciples. All who believe in Jesus Christ will receive the Holy Ghost. And if u will be completely sure of it can u also do what it said in:

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

And belive in the scriptures :). Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

God bless u and yours in His Holy Name Jesus Christ now and forever. Welcome and Love u in Christ.

Free God bless you.A question about speaking in tongues or a concern.Does it not say in the bible that it was to talk in other languages to spread the word of God to other natiions, and sometimes as angels. If as angels they need to be translated for the people to understand. The concern is control through confusion. If the translator is not correct in the translation.Or if the angel is not of God.Never spoke in tongues saw it once and it was just jibberesh, with no translation. But a lot of donations.I am blessed with the gifts that God has given me FAITHCHARITY but the greatest of these is CHARITY.Also dreams ,and visions o o o o o o o o o a dream that the Holy Spirit gave me was there where many people all praying singing praiseing God ,and they had headlights on ,and as they looked up it shone on a bible in the sky with Jesus on the front lighting up the night to bring the lost home. The revivial?

Ohh ill posteded before i was finich. Please forgive me.

I do understand that not all have the same gift. And that is a big blessing if we think in Jesus body.

Some time in a meeting i heard a praise song. And it was wonderful.

All tongues in the congregation is right. And everyone who will hear it will understand. That is right.

But iv heard some other stuff as well and it was not too me, for at say it so.

Baptism of the Spirit is when the Gods Word was open for me. And ill song all day for the Lord moustly and still do.

After that i got only one word. And am not allowed to say it here. Somtimes in spirit when i pray, then i have some secret word.

And special if it about powers of the spirit iv got a lot.

Conclusion. Its th Holy Spirit who drive on in the pray. And sometime i dont understand what i pray for.

And this my friends is a lot of secret. Becouse in that u know that it come from the Lord.

Ppl cant lie in this stage becouse if some have the Spirit of God in them. All other who have the same will understand it.

Ill hope for all of us to be gifted with more Heavenly song and pray. Remember all that the Spirit of God is a gift from He that understand everything. And everyone have the spirit who have said it straight out that u belive in Jesus Christ. In one way or another. Look for it!

God bless free I do believe people speak in tongues of angels as I have heard pastors speak of it in small settings.it must be a wonderful blessing to do.And a great connection to the Holy Spirit! Just something that has not happened yet to me.But I do believe the bible. If a person can see the Spirit in others it would be a discerning gift to know as I am sure that is how God will find us believers when he calls us.

    Listening.

Pray that He come too u.

    And help u.

    Be patient.

  • Rick Mentzer - In Reply - 3 years ago
Jcbu It was not to spread the word of God it was a display of evidence of what they received Acts 10:45+46,

and other places and i have also evidenced this being done in confusion and out of biblical order like other things

of God but that does not make it Gods fault because as Paul states God is not the author of confusion. 1 Corinthians

    14 :40
  • Gigi - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Hi Rick

    Good job explaining this.

The disciples on Pentecost were compelled to open their mouths and speak by the Holy Spirit. They had no preconceived ideas of what to expect. I think that this is the normal way that the Spirit works with this gift.

For some, it comes during times of singing , praise, or prayer. But you are right, in the assembly it is to be orderly, and we do have some control over exercising it once it is received.

I do not believe that everyone receives this gift. Paul's teachngs in Corinthians seems to indicate that the Spirit assigns the gifts as He sees fit. And, giving the body as an analogy, it isn't all made up of one single part, but has diverse kinds of parts. A hand cannot be a foot, or a mouth be an eye. The same with gifts, everyone does not have the same gift, but gifts differ from person to person. Speaking in tongues should not be a litmus test to determine if someone has the Spirit or not. It is the truth of the word that determines this.

It says that no one can say Jesus is Lord without the Spirit. That is the proof.

We should not judge anyone's "spiritual level" by the gifts that operate on a person.

That is being a "respecter of persons".

We just believe that those who claim Jesus as Lord and Savior have the Spirit in them and us working in and through them, whether we "see" it or not.

Gigi My concern with the charismatic movement so to speak is there not lining up what they do with what is written,

my wife and i went to an assembly that were doing some off the wall stuff, then the so called pastor walked out on

the pulpit picked up a telephone back in the day and said when he hung up that God was telling Him what to do

for the congregation. The man who invited us there when everything was done looked like he was on a drug, but I

ask Him one question the whole time there nobody opened a bible! He had no words and we never went back, so

if these are what people are seeing I would think somethings wrong too. Thank God we have the Truth of Scripture.

U have right. We have no need too do nothing. Such preachers are from the master of the dark. God bless u in Jesus Name.
  • Gigi again - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Hi Rick

That sounds like a wild situation. Boy, I'd walk out, too.

I have participated in two charismatic style church fellowships in my walk.

One an Assembly of God and the other a FourSquare church.

I never observed any of what you described. Services were orderly and reverent. So, I think there are wide degrees of differences from one congregation to another, since many are "independent" or "non denominational"

But, we are to test the spirits in such situations. I would not remain in a fellowship that overemphasized emotional manifestations that they attribute to the Holy Spirit over the reading and preaching from the word, singing, praising, and praying in an orderly way.

God's ways for us are not sensual and sensational. We are to have a sober, controlled mindset as we joyfully worship Him and interact with one another in holy ways.

Free for alls are not usually grounded in correctly dividing the Word or being led by the Holy Spirit.

I left this type of church when it was evident that most were readily embracing the. Newest " move of the Holy Spirit" without questioning it. I thought that that was a dangerous way to approach one's spiritual walk.

I still have close friends from those situations who have been dear to me for 40 years.

I am blessed to have them in my life.
