Hi. I have two questions, first question which bible verse helps with grief from death of a loved one and second question since I am trying to get back into reading and listening to the bible where should I start in the new testament?
Dear, if you want to study, start with the Romans so you can learn what grace we have received. My suggestion is Matthew and all the others. God bless you in Jesus Holy Name.
Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
My condolences for your lose, If you're getting back into reading the bible, I recommend Job as you could relate and find comfort in God's words in there.
But since you asked for new testament, I recommend starting at Revelation Chapter 17 and going all the way to the end (which is like 5 chapters). As you get to the end, you'll see the bright future and promises Christians have.
I lost my dad suddenly, too. It was 33 years ago. I knew when it happened that God chose it to be his time to die and enter eternal life. That has always comforted me. It is a blessing to have believing parents. It is sad to let go of them in death, but we let go of them to God, and that is better for our loved one.
May you be comforted and also hold your mom to you in memories. My dad loved to garden, so every spring when plants bud and begin to bloom or bear fruit, I think of him. I remember seeing him out among the fruit trees just checking them out and enjoying them.
I have a pressure canner he bought for me in my early adult years. I hadn't asked for it and my parents did not have much money, so it was a special gift. He bought it at a second hand store and I still have it. Just can't give it up.
I've used it for canning over the years.
My adult son now wants to learn to can, so I'll be teaching him with this special canner!
I hope you are have many ways to be reminded of your mom. God bless you today.
God comforts us in our loss as well as fills us up with His presence as we walk by His Spirit.
Luke 6.
