Why did God put the angel at the east side of the garden
  • Charles Robert Northup - In Reply - 2 years ago
To guard the tree of life If Adam and Eve would of ate of it before they sinned the world would all be perfect and sinless forever and if after the fall, we all would be doomed forever. It's still there and tell us in Revelations 21 or 22

Genesis Ch 3 V 24 : So He drove out the man ; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims , and a flaming sword which turned every way , to keep the way of the tree of life . It does seem to me , that the east is significant . If u get a concordance , I have a Strongs Exhaustive , u can look up every occurence of the word east in the Bible . Some of the most notable to me r : Lev Ch 2 V 3 , in this chapter we read the order in which the Israelites were to set off as they journeyed through the wilderness , Judah , on the east side of the tabernacle of witness , sets of first . Then in Ezekiel Ch 46 v 1+2 we read about the door on the east side of the new temple in Jerusalem only being used on the seventh day and only by the Prince , the Prince must be Christ , who else could it b ? And of course Mat Ch 2 tells us of the wise men from the east who saw a star in the east . I believe the east is significant based on these scriptures and a few others , I'm just not sure exactly why . My advice to everyone who wants to get intimate with the Word of God , is to get a concordance . Or come on here and try your luck with us . God bless your efforts .

    Hi Joseph.

That's a good question! But it's not one I will be able to answer, So I thought I would share a bit of my confusion.

First of all God placed the Cherubim there to guard the "way" to the tree of Life.

I would like to know why did he put 2 Cherubim there as well, after all he drove Adam out!

Also why haven't anyone found it by now after several thousand years? It shouldn't be to hard to Identify it has 2 Cherubim guarding it!

Perhaps the garden of eve is in another dimension than what we see here, and the tree isn't being guarded against man!!

God definitely wouldn't need 2 Cherubim for me!!

We do know it shows up again In Revelation, And after Adam sinned he was forbidden to eat of it so he won't live forever in that fallen state.

Hopefully we get a better understanding from someone else.

    God bless.

So to continue, perhaps after the Crust of the earth was the. Remade during the flood and all the deposits of plant and animal life were laid down in the muck and mud as the flood subsided. I have read these type of theories. We just don't know for sure how it all happened.

I do believe that Adam and Eve was made and lived on the earth and therefore, that the Garden of Eden was also earthly.

    Hi GiGi.

Excuse my corny humor! No we don't go looking for Cherubim to locate the Garden of Eve.

I agree, we just don't know.

However I don't believe where the scripture says he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, TO KEEP THE "WAY" OF THE TREE OF LIFE. Means God set up a road block of some sort.

It means he set gaurd to keep the way open. My sarcasm was it don't take 2 Cherubim to keep little old me out. Angels are known to be mighty.

And as for Adam and Eve and the garden being here on earth, I've never heard it any other way, I believe the scripture plainly states that.

We also have no scripture on what the earth was like before Adam and Eve sinned.

We do know Adam was "placed" in the garden to dress it. Genesis 2:15. "And the LORD God TOOK THE MAN, AND "PUT" HIM INTO THE GARDEN of Eden to dress it and to keep it". Genesis 2:15

And we do know he drove him out to go back to where he was created to till the ground. Genesis 3:23.

And there they populated the Earth.

Here's another provocative view I have heard.

Here in Ezekiel 28:13-14. If the Garden of God and the Garden of Eve is one of the same this is not the view of Satan we have in Genesis!

In Ezekiel he haven't fallen yet, "If" the Garden of Eve and the Garden of God is one of the same when did Satan have his career in it?

    Also see Isaiah 14:12-14.

Would this fit into the Gap theory?

This is not a rhetorical question.

You and I admit we don't know, We only have "our" Perspective. Perhaps someone can help us.

    God bless.

Agreed, God has kept us from knowing ALOT for our own good, I believe.

Ezekiel passage is interesting. We do not know when this took place or when we are not told.

In Genesis the first day is that day light was created but before this time the heavens and the earth existed. For how long we do not know, but gap theory between verse 1&2 is a possibility. But even if there was a gap, God did not tell us about It except for Ezekiel passage about the fall of Lucifer and his presence in the Garden of Eden. So, for

Me, time to move on to another topic

    S. Spencer,

Perhaps in the pre- flood era, the Garden of Eden was actually on earth and all who lived in that time knew where it was and saw that it was Inaccessible to them. And then, perhaps, the flood destroyed the Garden and afterwards it was not to eat found. The tree of life in Revelations may be the one originally in the Garden or Godcreated it again audit was a created physical tree in the Garden.

God is able to both. Transplant it from the Garden or re-create it.

We just do not really know. We have so little archeological evidence of the pre-flood era. But I do think thatGod does not want us to know a lot about it. And perhaps, as I have read, the tectonics plates may have moved, heaved so violently with the flood that the earths crust was broken up and much of the artifacts were buried beneath these plates as they subducted under and over each other.
