Knowing that God is completely perfect: in need of nothing, altogether self satisfied in the Godhead, and absolutely independent(under no sense of necessity or forced obligation) and free to do as He wills; then why did He create anything to begin with? He did not need to, have to, nor was he bored, lonely or need someone to love because He has no lack of anything in His Being.

Did you ever consider God wasn't alone and Lucifer rebelled before the earth was created, for example Genesis 2:4These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,5And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.

It says generations, plural read Genesis 1 & 2 notice God rested the 7th day but then look he still works after and makes and forms what he had created for example man male and female in verse 1 but in verse two he forms man from the dust and makes women from man's rib Adam and Eve. Jesus existed before he was born of a virgin. here is how i explain such things, 1 Corinthians 13:12

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." Paul said some word where not lawful for him to speak that Jesus had spoken to him and John was told to seal up the book and was told to eat it. Who can understand the mind of God...............who can know his ways or who can be his counselor. Study to show theyself approved a workman the needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. it also says to avoid unlearned questions for they bring more strife

    Good afternoon Charles

Your post touched on a few different things. So I will respond to just a couple.

First, I do think that the Angels, including Lucifer were created before Genesis as angels and the spiritual hosts are not mortal or corporeal (having bodies made of

    Earthly elements like

Humans). Genesis is the account of God creating the material things in the universe. There is no reason to

believe that God was unable to

create the spiritual realm prior to the physical. But the Genesis account does not say that the spiritual being were created in the six day creation narrative, so I cannot place their creation into those verses.

I do not believe that humans were created as spiritual beings first and then given physical bodies in Genesis as that is contrary to what Genesis says.

Lucifer did not exist alongside God before anything was created. Only God existed then. Lucifer was created.

From the passage in Job it seems to me to imply that these created spiritual being witnessed God creating the physical heavens and earth and rejoiced over what God has done.

The second response I'd like to say to clarify. It is common to say that Jesus existed before He was born into this world. It is true that God the Son existed before He took on human flesh and was conceived and born, but Jesus, being fully God and fully man was conceived and born as a new human Person, unique in that He had an eternal divine nature also. The two natures were united in the one Person if Jesus. Prior to His conception, the Human aspect of Jesus did not pre-exist His conception; the human aspect of Jesus had a beginning at His conception whereas the divine aspect of Jesus existed eternally prior to Jesus' conception. Not meaning to split hairs, but to me it is really important to speak accurately about Jesus. God bless you.

Wow !!!! I dunno , sense we do not have any recall of our spiritual life prior to this flesh life, we all just need to have patience, an understanding that soon , upon his 2nd coming, in a blink of a eye, we will return to our spiritual body take a knee , an then have that total recall ,. I pray that we all stay true, an not fall for the deceit of the anti christ ,.. an we all wait for our real king of kings an lord of lords

    Peace

For man, his desire to create & progress in his knowledge & experience is fuelled by desiring better ways or tools to get tasks done, to make life more comfortable, to deal with crises (e.g. disasters, epidemics, etc.). God has no need to acquire such knowledge & experiences. But His creative Attribute which harmonizes with all His Attributes, expresses itself in what He has created & continues to do. Those beings in Heaven & around the Throne, the worlds suspended in space & even insignificant man amidst all that grandeur, must be products of God's Attributes giving full expression.

If we believe that man's faith without works is lifeless faith, can we not expect that a God with indescribable Attributes that make Him Who He is, would also exercise & express Himself in all manner of ways, one of which being, to create all things for His pleasure? In Greek: He created according to His Will ( Revelation 4:11). And that Will which is inseparable from His other Attributes of Holiness, Love, Truth, etc., is seen in all that He has created. Maybe, one could say that if God didn't create, then His other Attributes exercised in unison would not find their full expression. Just adding my few thoughts to this conversation.

    Thanks Chris,

That explains a lot. I agree that God has attributes we do not nor may never know about since he is infinitely perfect.

I have begun reading up On this, and there are a number of verses that say that God created all things for His glory; other places speak that all things were created for His pleasure.

But I ask what does that mean

    "For His glory"?

I agree that God is sel-existent, therefore Life Itself, and that He is self-sufficient possessing every aspect (attribute) of perfection that identifies Him as the only necessary Being eternally alive. So, if He is self-sufficient and possesses all Perfections without any lack, then He does not need to acquire anything outside of Himself to become complete, because He already is complete. And since He is eternally complete, then nothing can be reduced or taken from Himself. Hmmmm.

I concur that He most likely created because as the perfect, infinite, necessary, and changeless Being, he must be an Active rather than a Passive Being. So, therefore, He would necessarily express all if His attributes eternally. Yet, creation had a beginning, do He must have began time in order to express the glory of His creativity. And in His creation within time, He gave expression to the glory of many other attributes that could not be expressed in the Godhead, like mercy, grace, justice, wrath, generosity, benevolence, anger, compassion (since there is no evil, sin, or unrighteousness in the Godhead for these attributes to be expressed).

So, I will read more on this to better understand what is meant by "for His glory".

I know that this does not mean that God is self-serving , prideful, or narcissistic. He didn't create to show off. He created all for the benefit of creation, so benevolence is expressed in this way.

God is much, much greater than we could ever imagine. Our attempts to describe what is transcendent about Him fall short, but they do help US know Him more and leads us to praise and worship Him

A great succinct description of Almighty God, GiGi. I offer comment based on your words, "He has no lack of anything in His Being". In the midst of other opinions on "why did God create anything to begin with", I would emphasize God's self-sufficiency. In His Holiness & Perfection, is there anything that God could possibly lack? Certainly not love, companionship, etc.

In His self-sufficiency, God has all the attributes that make Him Who He is; many of them we know, maybe many we don't know of. If He made man in His Image, man had the capacity to reflect & use all that God is, save the limitations placed upon Earth-shackled, time-bound fleshly man (e.g. not having all knowledge/power/presence, nor unlimited & instant movement through time, etc.). In that Image of perfect love, mercy, truth, grace, holiness, etc. given to man, I sense the ability & propensity in man to create, to progress & to develop. I think this is God-given as God Himself has been creating from the 'beginning' & we are not instructed to any other of His creative Work that has been going on since.

    Thanks for your input

I do believe that God had the end in mind when He willed everything into existence.

The verse in Ephesians says that the end will show the riches of his grace in His kindness to us.

This explains one aspect of His purpose for creation.

But what about His judgment upon the wicked?

And what about the creation of millions of galaxies and planetary systems?

And why create Angels since they do not receive God's saving grace.

Thank you for your post, it helps some. I think perhaps, this is most likely a difficult query to come to a definitive conclusion. I hope I'll hear from others. We will probably get a variety of responses. That is good! I'll do some research also. I know there are some good reliable sites to look for explanations

    Hi GiGi.

    Good Question.

I'm not sure if this is the answer but We know by scripture Christ was prophesied as the savior to come into the world before the world began.

    Ephesians 1:4.

    1 Peter 1:19-21.

The volume of the book is written of Christ and his redemption plan.

    See John 5:39.

    Also " Hebrews 10:7. "

We that said your question reminds me of

Ephesians 2:6-7. And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"THAT IN THE AGES TO COME" he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

This seems to imply that in the ages to come one would look back and see the love demonstrated orchestrated in these 66 books. which involves creation.

    Just a perspective.

    God bless.
